I love this stage of Cage's career.
I love this stage of Cage's career.
Is he likely to have a Keaton moment?
If he eats his own pig at the end of that movie, absolutely.
If Nic Cage is in it, I watch it.
Sopranos prequel.
Isn't Gandolfini's son playing young Tony?
Yep. You can see his mannerisms in some of the shots.
I never did finish The Sopranos. Is it on any of the streaming things? I guess I'd be better restarting at this point if I was gonna do that.
Looks like NOW TV or HBO on Amazon.
I watched series 1 but it felt like such an anticlimax that I never bothered going any further.
I'm a twit
That's a mistake.
Movie looks dull, just looks like a mafia movie not a sopranos thing. Even the colour palette is a joke.
I watched Nobody, it was pretty rubbish.
Really doesn't work. Bob as an all out action figure is just weird.
Watched Black Widow tonight.
I really enjoyed it, especially David Harbour's character.
Also, Winstone really needs to work on his Russian accent. Failing that he should have just kept one accent going throughout the film, he seemed to jump between about 30.
Me and the boys watched the Kickboxer sequel with Mike Tyson and Ronaldinho yesterday. Truly one of the worst films I've ever seen. 2 hours long and I couldn't name you a character and I'm not sure why/when anyone was in/out of prison. I was saying to one of my friends that it feels like a movie made by someone who has never seen a movie but have been explained the basic concept of one.
This outrageously bad stunt scene was the best part: https://streamable.com/2ta1u1
That's some textbook, "We'll get it in the edit."
Falling Down is on Netflix
I watched The Dead Don't Die last night. No idea what the point of it was.
I've said here before that I'm a bit of a sucker for even a shit zombie film but this was just boring, and trying to be weird without being genuinely odd or funny enough to pull it off. Why they bothered getting that cast in for it I don't know.
The Old trailer looks proper shit.
Yeah even as a big Bill Murray fan, The Dead Don't Die feels like something Jim Jarmush scribbled on a napkin and then made without actually fleshing out. Makes me even more wary he is making Ghost Dog 2 next.
Watched Fear Street:1994 on Netflix last night. It was a strange affair, the intro was good. Directly after the intro was a bit wobbly, trying to cram as many 90s songs as possible into a short sequence was very distracting but once it got a bit of time to breathe it was a lot better. Of course it's a horror story adapted from a Goosebumps book with ultra gore thrown in and trying to pay homage to a lot of other horror films at the same time: not everything will work. Interested to see how the next two parts go and then review the series as a whole.
Yeah, I tried The Dead Don't Die last weekend and it was terrible. I can't remember if I fell asleep during it, switched it off cause I was bored or just lost interest and got distracted by my phone.
I see Midsommmar has dropped on Netflix. An absolute must.
Really? I felt it was a big step down from Hereditary and there was some questionable villifying of a certain character for me. Maybe it was Ari Aster's intention, I know whenever it is mentioned on the horror facebook groups I am in it usually degenerates into a shit show and gets deleted
It's a roaring, cathartic, monster of a film. Bang up there with The Lighthouse in recent years.
I haven't seen that yet, it's on the list.
Just watched Hunter Hunter as per DS's recommendation in the WDYTOE thread and it is excellent.
I'm fully on the Midsommar as a shitshow bandwagon.
Kandisha, a new French horror on Shudder.
Nothing new, but enjoyable enough. A friend in a group summons a mythical demon, and shit goes very wrong. Decent kills, its short and solid acting
I have reactivated my Shudder subscription so will check it out. I liked Summer of 84 but saw it was a bit marmite review wise.
I never ever expected to but I enjoyed Palm Springs.
Did someone post a knockout tournament of action films on the forum somewhere?
The Raid won, Bloodsport was a beaten finalist. I wanted to look through the whole tournament and download any films I hadn't seen but I can't find the big picture someone posted a few days ago
Cheers
I've finally got a copy of the below, which is supposed to be incredibly fucked and is causing a stir. Been chasing it for a while. Its not available anywhere, really, so if you want the link let me know.

I replied, gorgeous
DS back offering his foul sweets from his dirty van.
Ladybird on BBC 1 in 30.
In another life, DS would've been the bloke giving my Dad those kung fu VHS' from his car boot. I'm pretty sure that's how I saw Robocop at 7.
I still haven't forgiven you for the film that ended with a dad raping his entire family to death. Something about Siberia I think? Or the film where the priests all sit around eating shit with with the kids in their noncery.
Keep your links to yourself fella.
Not Siberia, Serbia I think?
A Serbian Film, aye. It's almost a black comedy.
What was the other one? Pretty sure it was Italian.
