People will break it. It's free money. And hitting people in their wallets is a bigger deterrent than the wellbeing of their fellow human beings. The third wave stuff is probably right. We don't know how many people have been infected over the last year so there could be a sizeable chunk left who grab the virus. They're unlikely to wind up in hospital but can't entirely rule it out.
It's the kind of caution I wish adopted right from the start but whatever. Lockdown + vaccines has really, really put us in a good spot but the last year has taught me nothing entirely goes to plan on this.
We aren't, or at least not even slightly to the same degree that the continent is. They are slightly 'concerned' (word of the year) about the South African variant being there in force, but the vaccines are also effective against severe disease in that, at very worst.

Sounds like they're priming the elderly for the winter. So they'll get their second jabs now or summer-ish and then they get the booster in September. It has to be all up in the air with the second jabs trickling through in favour of speeding through the first doses.
