Nomadland is pretentious art house drivel.
Promising Young Woman might be my favourite movie this year.

"I'm as feminist as they come, that's why I think we need to identify the gays and let them know there are all these lovely women they could be into."
Great, now I've set that post to the Blind Date theme tune. "Here's our Graeme with the contestants ...."
Watched Tenet last night. Stunning visual and audio, an interesting concept but ultimately sucks it's own dick a bit too much. Hopefully Nolan back on form next time round.
Isn't the audio notoriously not stunning?
Yeah I thought that people had piled onto that as they normally do with Nolan's films and all their big crescendos of waily noises (forgive my overly technical terminology.)
The audio was fucking awful.
The video was awful as well to be honest. Complete load of bollocks.
It was a really shit Bond film. Which is going some.
I watched the second Borat film. Not dreadful, just more of the same.
I'm a twit
Nolan's best film was Memento, and that wasn't anything more than good.
I'm not the biggest fanboy but he's got a better hit rate than most. Batman Begins is the high point of comic book cinema and The Prestige was one of the films of the decade.
Inception was great, and from what I remember Interstellar was very good as well.
If you ignore the superhero shit, most of Nolan's work is really good.
Great: Following, Memento, The Prestige
Very good: Interstellar, Inception
Ok: Dunkirk
I haven't watched Insomnia and I just found out that there is a new one out.
World War Z
6/10
Watched Ran last night, a Japanese adaptation of King Lear from the 80s. Wouldn't usually watch shite like that but we're working our way through the imdb top 250 and it's on Prime
Fucking shite. Hated it. Really boring. Nice scenery though.
IMDb is well off the boil. Does RT do a similar list?
Is there a better film from a tv programme than the Mr Bean one?
You ruined it with the edit.
The last one sounds like one of his dodgy Cherno porno's.
Edit: is cherno the right word there? I'm not googling nonce terms.

There is some absolute dross in there. Theres a fair few Japanese samurai sort of films that are essentially the same and they are all shite.
Im on about 245 right now... Ive been within 2 or 3 I think at peak. The list just keeps churning up new shite for me to squint through.
Theres some corkers in there but be prepared for many, many similar outings as above.
Case 39 - 5/10
Contagion - 8/10. Obviously, we are living in a much better version of this movie today. It was good though on the origins and all that.
I watched Soul and it's good in that way most Pixar films are now. Objectively a lot of things about it (looks nice, well acted, writing, etc.) are very good but just comes together to be less than the sum of its parts. None of the old magic.
Watched Solo yesterday (Star Wars thing). Was fine overall, but Clarke can't act and I didn't really find the main character likeable. Chewy was boss, as was Phoebe W-B and Glover.
Yeah Emilia Clarke just isn't very good in anything I've seen her in.
Emilia Clarke has never been able to act, there is a reason she was in one shit straight to dvd film before Game of Thrones: she was cast because she looked the part and was willing to do full frontal nudity. Fair play to her for making the most of it, but it was amusing to get on her high horse about it in later seasons because she would have got nowhere near the job if she didn't get her kit off, she is no Lena Headey.
Her casting as Sarah Connor was entertaining as well, like somebody had read a fan saying what a great job she was doing as slightly unhinged warrior woman 'Dany' but had never actually seen the show, and she's trendy so she's perfect for this!
Admittedly a good performance from her wouldn't have saved that film anyway, but still.
Hello Manc. icheckmovies looks like some 2010 shite (it is), but it's fantastic for finding new films n shit. It offers multiple different lists that you can pick from, ranging from the poncey hipster stuff, to safe classics of the canon to more specific stuff like Ebert's great movies list etc etc. If you look at any individual film's list, it will immediately show which top lists (i.e., NOT lists made by random mopes) it appears on, which you can then in turn use to find films of a similar quality/genre etc.
Actually, I like the simplistic design.
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/t.../?sort=runtime
that's the last list I was using - they shoot pictures don't they's top 1000 (determined by thousands of end of year critics BEST OF lists that some fantastic dorks amalgamate with algorithms n shit). Sorted by runtime natch, cus i can't hack long films.

Fantastic work.
I wonder what the issue with older films that are still quality moving to streaming is? The legendary ones have moved over of course but I feel like there is a big vacuum of 80's/90's films that are just unavailable anywhere except physical media (and then older formats). Seems odd when the main platforms seem to be rotating the same lot of films between them.
Anyone know where I can get Threads? @Dark Soldier ?
Don’t bother mate. Find an old episode of Corrie on UK Gold instead.
I'm a twit
Threads as in nuking Sheffield?
That newest Borat film is absolute turd.
Made to watch Instant Family. Better than I expected, if not formulaic.
Watched Gladiator on 4K UHD Blu-ray, great looking transfer but the major thing for me personally was I'd never seen the extended edition of the film before, to my mind the major scene cut from the theatrical version could have stayed and made things more fitting for the ending.
Bam Margera is spiralling out of control again.
Seems he's been told he's off Jackass 4 and now is posting drunken videos of him wanting to crowdfund a movie to beat Jackass 4. Sad times. Worrying times.
