Just been reading about that guy who jetskid from Scotland to Isle Of Man, and then got arrested. Should have been given a medal.

I saw that, the bird he did it for seemed like a right cunt. Probably bullied him into it.
Regarding the vaccination, as harsh as it sounds I do question vaccinating people of 90 plus years of age.
There was a woman in a care home in Wales who got the jab last week - 108 and she'd lived through the Spanish Flu as well. What the hell is going to kill her??
The older they are the higher the chance they will die from it, so you have to start with them if getting the numbers down is your aim. Will some of them die within weeks of getting it anyway? Probably. Will Magic say this is evidence of the Vaccine being a global pot to murder the over 60's? Probably.
Covid-19, potentially.
This is why you vaccinate the very old first:

We’ve a list of 14 groups and I’m number 5 on it. Not sure when that’ll actually be though.
You're over 65? Didn't see that one coming.
He's in Ireland, they'll have a different set up I imagine.
Twas a shit joke on my part. I'm sorry.
His diet and lifestyle is why we're in this mess.
Not quite yet. We have a section for “Workers essential for economic activity”.
Teachers are 12th which is just another in a long line of slaps in the face they’ve got through all this.
Wouldn’t even let schools finish up last Friday. When one in Kerry had 9 cases last week and decided to close the principal was dragged over the coals and ordered to stay open.
Dont worry fellas we are still accepting flights from the UK.

You've already got the 'new variant' over there haven't you? Wash your hands you dirty bastards.
Yeah we have all covid types.

I like the R0 stockmarket they have going on in that article. Sell everything at 1.17.
Is teaching social care? If not then they’re last.
Nowhere, except those in the age categories. The only job titles are health workers and carers.
Haven't Australia effectively banned all flights from everywhere since about May with the quotas on people who can actually come into the country?
Must be the same setup as there where they’re playing on the “everyone hates teachers anyway” thing. The media go to town on them.
I think it is Australians and famous people. But I reckon for the right amount anyone could fly in. We have had a shit fight keeping South American flight crews in their hotel rooms.
New Zealand is allowed to fly into Qld, NSW and NT.
:Edit: There are exemptions for non Australians.

There are a lot of people who have to work with people. Construction staff, transport staff, people who work in shops, people who work in warehouses, people who work in factories. There's no difference between them and teachers and if they started ascribing one in the vaccine list there would be all sorts of arguments to be had. It's much easier to just designate the people who are actually near the virus because of their job (i.e. health workers and carers) and stick everyone else in one pot.
There's another new'un in Sith Africa.
Denmark killing 15 million minks in a effort to control covid sounds like a lot of effort.
A friend's daughter got a notification to self-isolate yesterday, based on a contact from Dec 10th. She's 'allowed' out on the 24th. What's the point of that?
Particularly when they buried some of them in spitting distance of a water supply and had to dig them all up again.
Didn't they dig themselves up zombie-apocalypse style?
Not sure what or where Medway is but lol at their figures. 23% positivity rate. Scrubbers.

Why aren't the deaths going mental?
The deaths chart is the thing to watch from here on. If the deaths start decreasing pretty soon (and they should) then it'll be a first sign that we might be getting rid of this thing via vaccine.
Might have another couple of Tally Tuesdays first though, starting today.
237 000 people from NSW have applied for QLD border passes since the weekend.

Nobody is disputing that health workers and care workers should be the priority but teachers have a far different ride than the roles you mentioned.
Nobody else is isolated with 30+ other people facing them without masks or PPE, or even enough sinks in the workplace for everyone to keep on top of hand washing adequately. Children may be fine (if you ignore the VIRUS CARRIERS tag) but school staff are not.

On the chart I'm looking at the deaths seem to have been pretty constant since about mid November. If the panic from government is correct you'd expect them to rise fairly sharply over the next two weeks.
But carers and health workers are being prioritised to protect the people they care for, not to protect them per se. Teachers don't run the risk of infecting the old and the vulnerable, and the teachers that are old and vulnerable themselves will already be covered under the existing priority system.
There's a good argument for it but you can make the same argument for supermarket workers in particular (in America both of these seem to be above the elderly). I think they're just prioritising the groups who are actually dying in numbers, rather than the groups at perceived risk, which has to be about right.
Lady on the news just said we are currently 1000 lower than Aprils hospitalisations and on track to exceed it next week. Welp.
Text received, daughter been in contact with someone with Covid. Has to isolate until the 27th. She also has "a cold". Fuck. Sake.
