Mason Mount to the rescue
Mason Mount to the rescue
Alisson returns. The front 3 and Jota playing too. Goals are the order of the day.
I wonder if there's any chance of anything at all happening in the remainder of this match.
I'd be interested to know precisely how much more anonymous Pogba is going to have to get before van de Beek starts getting some of the chances to play that Pogba currently does.
Must be at least a year by now.
Top top top player.
It seems mad that United spent 40 million quid on a CL semi-finalist this summer, who’s played about 7 minutes and it’s barely mentioned.
That was extremely dull.
Bit disappointed with that, we set up to play against the Famous Man United rather than its current incarnation who are a mid-table outfit. I guess if the VAR people did their job we might have won 1-0, and the defending was better, but we were too timid going forward.
Fair play to both of them, some feat to serve up that shite with what must be a billion pounds worth of talent on the pitch.
The white people above ganging up on Pogba, lads, this is why we're out on the streets.
I thought they looked a far better side when Pogba came on. Fred is absolute human garbage, the sort of stuff that floats in sewers and even the rats don't touch. Maguire was bailed out by Lindelof about 400 times as well. Shaw did well enough. McTominay is always a major pest in these games but not sure what he offers when United are meant to be the better side (whenever that may be).
Cavani made me shit myself about three times as well despite being useless. His old mate Thiago Silva stuck to him well otherwise it was 1-0 and a Tardelli charge into the corner flag.
That Mendy bloke looks quite good. Lampard is still a bin man
It's pretty damning that the game should have been seen as very winnable for both and yet neither team really tried to win.
I don't understand why you wouldn't see Maguire and Lindelof and decide to just pressure them as hard as possible until the inevitable mistake happened.
And you're right about McTominay as well. He's a very Fletcher-y type who's good for the big teams but a bit pointless against a "lesser" (lol) team.
Phwooooar.
Evra vs jfh is amazing.
God I love that man (not the motormouth Frenchman).
Surely that’s outside of the box?
They're just making it up now. Gets the ball. Makes the point moot.
And not even a foul. He clearly gets the ball. I must be going crazy.
Stone wall penalty, that.
Jk, it wasn't even a free kick
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for Liverpool to be on the wrong end of all manner of shit calls, but this is all getting a bit silly.
Tuned in, "pen" given, tuned out.
I need a new sport.
Very good from Sheffield United so far. The Liverpool 2 rather than usual 3 in the middle is being over-run. I can't remember many times we've held the ball long enough to get the fullbacks in a threatening position.
Apparently the penalty was only ever looked at as an "inside or outside" no one actually checked if there was actually a foul. That may play against Sheffield United in the 2nd half though. Refs can often fall into the trap of the sympathy penalty awarded the other way.
The thing with VAR is it might get marginal calls like that wrong still but at least it prevents really horrendous challenges and clear calls going unpunished.
I think a shit 0-0 probably suits both parties. The last thing United needed was a defeat setting them back, which was probably why Ole Gunnar Binman played it safe with his selections, and Frank Lampard gets to wave a clean sheet at the FRAUD lobby.
THE MIGHTY BLADES looked like their old selves again today. Keep on like that and we should be fine for survival.
Ampadu is a lovely player and needs to play in midfield from now on.
Whoever has the CD-Rom for VAR 2020 should run through all the great moments in the history of the sport and see which ones should be void. I'd hate to be recognising illegal goals.
That United game was absolutely dreadful yesterday. I suppose the draw can be sold as a better result for Chelsea, and taking the game to United is probably playing to their one strength, but I can't help but feel that Chelsea have been pretty gutless in all of their bigger games this season. They were woeful against Liverpool, and 0-0s against Sevilla and United hardly set the heart racing. Am I missing any where they haven't been guff?
I might have to move into the team sceptic on Havertz (still sticking with him in FPL for now Jimmy!) as I'm not sure a no-position-flounce really works for a top, top team, even if he is technically superb. Mount is probably the better player even though he has about a quarter of the [technical] ability. Turbo Timo also looks a bit pants if teams just sit deep.
Werner you could see proving useful if he isn't used as MRC by some fat cunt. Havertz could be a solid Didi Hamann regen too
Havertz needs to have the team built around him a la Grealish. The little touches of class are there but he looks a bit lost on the right and probably still getting used to the idea of teams using physical force against him, as that sort of thing is very much frowned upon in German football.
He's at least filling the dreamy eyes quotient now Kepa has been banished to the margins. Pulisic looks our best attacking threat at the moment but his legs are made of jell-o.
When Havertz and O'Werner nearly linked up early doors to put the latter through on goal I had the feeling that was setting the tone for the game but apparently that was a bit too close to somebody trying to win because after the players just reverted to re-enacting something slightly less interesting than that bit of football in The Simpsons.
Timo looks a bit chubz too, possibly lacking fitness.
Big Havertz has more goals/assists than all but three people in 2020. He’s clearly doing something correct. He’s just managed by a bin man.
I think I know why Taz was so quick to ask Jimmy for his address now ...
Something I have noticed is that Kai and Timo (I'm good friends with both, Giggles) always seem to be talking to each other and never anyone else. Frank really needs to get some team bonding sessions going, difficult in the bubble I know as bowling and laser quest are both off limits but perhaps some kind of trust exercise would work, or an illegal club night out.
Southampton starting with Bednarek and Vestergaard as centrebacks.
5-0 Everton.
The Grimsby keeper yesterday
They aren't great, but then none of our options are good. We never properly replaced Van Djik or Fonte.
Bednarek plays every game so there must be something the manager sees in him.
Why don't Manchester United or Chelsea simply stop what they're doing and immediately replace their current managers for Ralph Hasenhuttl?
I have (genuine) ITK that he was the backup choice should Lampard have turned us down or it had not worked out in some way.
Doesn't even break his stride.
This was the Danang bench today after they scored after 38 seconds. Danang are clear of relegation, whilst the team they were playing, Quang Nam, are bottom, but catching up. They have the same owner. Quang Nam went on to win 3-1.

Newcastle signing ASM's bricklaying mate from the Australian 4th division is pretty great
Best game of the day being PPV shows exactly why it’s a bad idea for fans, and a master stroke by the suits.
Andy, talk to me bruv, where you been hiding Welbeck's regen at?
