The clubs already made their 'fuck the rest of you' land grab, this is just going back to the pot for another helping.

Very true - could be.
For some reason Youtube just recommended me this.
Amazing, amazing bants Jamie.
Channeling Ian Holloway in that freeze frame.
This league reform seems like a good idea until you read about the big 6 having complete control over everything. The last thing we want is more power to those 6 clubs.
On the other hand the changes to the structure and how the money will be distributed is great and should be implemented. Change all those things but keep the 14/20 Premier league voting structure and I think the game would be in a far better position.
None of it means anything if the voting structure goes the way they want it to, because they could then just vote to reverse it all, or abolish relegation, or vote whatever they want into or out of existence afterwards.
The slightly more favourable distribution is the price for ceding control to those 6 clubs.
The best bit is how they tried to make it look like 9 clubs make the decisions.
I wouldn't mind the Big Four having control of everything, but I simply refuse to recognise this 'Big Six'.
Well if I know sports administrators they'll definitely do what's best for the future health of the sport as a whole.
That's why you just don't accept the voting reform and if it's take it or leave it I guess you leave it (although the football league are probably still better off taking it).
I eagerly await a Brighton or a Burnley proposing Andy's suggestion as a sensible compromise . . .
Although fuck knows why having the 14/20 would be really any better (all you get then is the middle tier Premier League clubs do everything in their power to suppress competition from below). Maybe they should go IFAB board style and give half the votes to the top 6 (actually just give half the votes to Liverpool and United as the others are a waste of time really, maybe that's harsh on Arsenal) and half the votes to the rest league (distribute as many or as few as you want) where a majority is needed to do stuff. Why does this new thing put us any closer to a no relegation future? I would have thought, were that in any way possible, the current voting model would be much more likely to yield it. The big 6 don't give a fuck about relegation. It is a threat so remote as to not be worth bothering with. At best that type of ingrained advantage is only relevant at a European level (where it is more possible to feckless your way out of the thing - see Meeelan and their bleating).
Who’s the ‘big six’?
The big four is Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, no? The original from the 2000s anyway.
We went through this before. There is the Big Four/Sky Four, and then City have affiliate status. Tottenham are nowhere.
The endgame for the American owners (who are the ones drafting this up, not uncoincidentally) will be for the league to mirror the collective owner-power and commercial certainty of US sports and if that means they know they are always working with Burnley and not QPR, then it makes it that little bit easier. Liverpool and United getting into bed is the most predictable thing ever - especially at a time when the Spanish big dogs are bleeding money and credibility. The more of a cartel there is among ownership, the less power players and agents will have. Levy will be all for it too, but whether the oligarchs and sand barons are is a different question.
As soon as you close up the league then you can start having things like salary caps which are extremely owner-friendly.
I found it interesting that they want rid of the Community Shield - seems like a weird thing to want to abolish, unless you're planning to play it or something like it in Boston...

Niko tries to come off as ‘not like the rest of the nutters’ and then drops a ‘only United and Liverpool are relevant when it comes to the premier league’
He's right. It's a 3 team league (Arsenal being the third one), the rest don't matter at all. As a Chelsea/City fan you really notice it in the media coverage - us two are only fleetingly relevant when we are failing and therefore allow the massive fanbases of the big 3 to lol at us. When we win the story is the red lot failing.
I get the point about trying to make it the National Soccer League (but presumably Pan-National), I just don't really see it as being remotely possible. Even if it were possible to corral the biggestest 32 teams in Europe (the World?) into some sort of super league, football, as we know it, really isn't some by the numbers how high can he jump how about that combine yeehaw sport, like those you would be trying to ape. Also, it is too prevalent. Closed shops only work if you are the shop. The NFL can dominate their players because they are the only game in town. How is that ever going to be the case with football? Are we just going to tell all of the other teams/ league in the world to stop bothering? Where do the players come from?
I guess what I'm trying to say is I understand the concern, but I'm not that convinced by it as a genuinely existential threat.
That said, the voting idea is wrong and shouldn't be countenanced. I'm not exactly sure how a democratic system in football governance should work, but 6 clubs good x clubs bad is a bit Orwellian, even though we have 14 clubs good and fuck the rest of you at the moment.
Paul Scholes looks a bit of a cunt with that move.
The traditionally mooted death star style Super League isn't viable. What they'll want is the best of both worlds - a slimline, elitist domestic league and a repetitive, elitist CL - and control over both.
It genuinely is in their interest to have a strong and deep English domestic system so this is why they'll hand the cash over.
He's made himself manager.

He hasnt. He is caretaker until they find a new boss. Pretty sure Warren Joyce was meant to do it but he is isolation.
Paul Scholes seems like a borderline retard, to the point where you wonder whether it was actually the club keeping him out of the spotlight.
Taken in by the BBC reporting again. Argh.
Which is sort of better than what we have at the moment, which is a marginally more bloated elitist domestic league, and a repetitive, elitist European format. So tell them to fuck off with the voting system, keep the Rumbelows, but have a few less league games and more money down the chain.
Although Rick Parry being in favour of something is usually a pretty good steer on what not to think. Status quo forever?
Our friendly against Mali has been called off for tomorrow approximately 16 hours before KO because 2 of their staff have tested positive. I hope Doucoure takes it back with him, the cunt.
Did they call up him and Adama and neither went?
Ya, Adama joined up with Spain, wasn't sure if Doucoure went or not.
Keita's got the 'rona now apparently.
Trippiers facing a 6 month ban for telling his mates he was off to Atletico and then betting on it. These people are fucking morons. Just give your mate some cash ffs.
Mezut Ozil rounding out his week of good PR by advocating for Armenian Genocide.
Very good.
edit: I replied and now I've got a good debate going between a bajillion fenerbache fans vs me. It can be best described as 'spirited'
They’re very angry at me.
What did you think was going to happen?
I've tried to follow this conflict but there is nothing to follow, so you just have to trust your instinct and figure Turkey has backed the cunts and that the Armenians are a great bunch of lads.
This is the most people in my mentions ever. There’s hundreds of people calling for my death. Normally it’s 2 to 3 people at most.
@ Lewis, not the Twitter Warrior.
I’d guessed as normally you’re one of the two to three people. Most of its in Turkish so I don’t have a clue but at one point people got very into accusing an old lady of being propaganda so I’ve just got 10s of photos of some fat old Armenian woman in there.
It's a truly baffling state of affairs. Why do Azerbaijan want it back? There is nothing there, and literally everyone hates them. It would be like us trying to expand Northern Ireland into Donegal.
It’s all a bit mad. Didn’t they send some general over to make a peace deal and murdered him like it was a fucking Game of Thrones b-scene?
Us against team Giggles part two about to start
Gutted I’m missing this as someone from work has COVID and I was told to stay home because of it
It’s growing in me too. If only it was the same shade of blue all the way.
Stephen Kenny looks like a Maths Teacher.
Matt Doherty was better at centre half against Wales than he is as a right back. Needs to be a 5 to use him or it needs to be Coleman (when he’s back).
