I mean, call him an idiot if you want. But he’s getting nearly half a billion in income before sponsorship etc
I know some of these guys egos are enormous and they all want to be the highest paid, but seriously. Go buy a country or something and chill. He’s good.
Unless there are clauses that allow him to re-negotiate after X amount of years or whatever I think it's a bad contract for him.
Taking it at face value (as we don't know any sub clauses etc) it's $450m over 10 years. Assuming he'd have signed a 5 year deal he'd have then been able to sign a larger deal for the next 5 years.
Obviously idiot is strong as he's still raking in money and perhaps he's decided to give them a slightly friendlier deal to help the team but in terms of pure money it's not the right move.
Wasn’t just Brady doing it though right? Loads of guys were accepting reduced rates to play on a winning team.
If they’ve got that guy firing at QB they can throw lowball offers in there at players to test their will to win.
Best backup QB job in the business too. Not real risk of the franchise drafting a QB so they’ll either just churn out 3-6th rounders as developmental projects to trade or have Brian Hoyer’s regen holding the clip board for the next decade too.
It's a better deal for the Chiefs than it is for Mahomes.
I just can't see a way in which a guy potentially earning $450m before sponsorships etc is bad in any way.
Sure other players may overtake his per season amount in the future, but it's a great statement of commitment from both sides.
All seems to be differing stories anyway.
$50.3m AAV is a much better deal for Mahomes with a thick amount of it guaranteed is nice too.
I assume there is also a clause to re-negotiate after X amount of years.
There's no way he gets the full $503m then.
He might as well just retire.
What does he need to achieve for this to make it worthwhile for them? The stats don't really advise blowing your load on a QB's second contract anyway, do they? I know it's hard when they've been beasting it but this is really fucking going for it.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/american-football/53327285
They really need to cut him for this.
I love that his defence is basically "Hey, I just repost any old shit."
Another contract LOSER.

He’s also worth fuck all since his injury, so I’m sure that helps.
https://www.nfl.com/news/ravens-redu...-less-than-14k
Ravens are reducing the stadium capacity to around 14k this season in light of Covid. However, 62k season tickets have already been sold.
And college football games starting to get axed.
In conference only in the big ten.
Be interesting to see how that would play out for the playoffs if it was unanimous. An all SEC round robin would be quality.
It would still just be Alabama,Clemson, Ohio State & one other.
Not that we’ll even get conference games, if we’re being honest. American doing a great job of totally shitting the bed on this.
You reckon bama will top the sec again?
Lsu lost burrow and many others.
Georgia lost fromm
Bama lost tua, Ruggs and jeudy
It’ll be closer, but they’re still the third best team in the country, and as long as they don’t lose more than one game they’d probably be able to get in on reputation over some lesser teams.
Confirmed the redskins are no more.
No new name yet. South Park will need to re do the episode.
Mixed reaction it seems.
Load of bullshit but this is what happens when the idiots take over.

There are three fairly long parts to this but it's a good read.
Antonio Brown “retires” again.
Thank fuck for that.
There had been rumblings that we might offer him a contract.
It took Washington a week and a half to come up with "Washington Football Team" as their interim identity? Somebody's being paid too much.
Antonio Brown has decided he wants to play again.
Someone needs to find out who was keeping him medicated at the Steelers all those years and get them on the Covid vaccine team.
I think they might. They seem insistent on keeping links to the history of the name and team. For example they aren't changing the jerseys even slightly.
I'm pretty sure that sort of behaviour is fairly apocryphal, I don't think you can really do it, as it's clearly acting in bad faith.
Yeah those things often get overruled don't they? Because money if nothing else.
The Washington Red Bulls.
It doesn't look right.
I do like the Alamama style helmets though.
That is a hefty amount.
Some Chiefs lineman has opted out of the season. Not sure if he’s a starter or not but he’s apparently a doctor also. Won’t be the last.
He's one of their starting guards.
He wasn't very good last year though.
Interesting to see how coaches and team brass take that. Basically giving up your spot on the team. Good PR message if they can use it as a sort of loan deal.
The jets Adams trade is a bit spicy. Flared up some heat within the jets and interesting theory they’re building the capital to take a punt at Trevor Lawrence (unlikely I’d say).
Even with The Moustache, it's hard to see anyone out-shitting the Jags this year.
It would be a good season for someone like the steelers/colts/broncos to have an absolute meltdown.
On paper the jags have a real struggle, but never doubt the shitness of the New York teams, Detroit and Ohio teams.
The MLB looks to be starting rather un-smoothly.
De'Anthony "Black Mamba" Thomas - Ravens starting KR/PR
Chance Warmack - At the Seahawks but a long shot to play, didn't play any games last year
Maurice Canady - Cowboys backup CB (was at Ravens and Jets last year)
Danny Vitale - Patriots starting FB I guess, signed from Packers but NE don't play much with FBs
Caleb Brantley - Backup DL for the Redskins.
New names to have opted out of this season.
Joey Bosa gets 5 years and $135m for his troubles.
The Covid list is growing quite rapidly now.
Patriots will be fucked as they have not only the biggest names in Dont'a Hightower and Patrick Chung opting out but also the most so far.
Belichick's probably worked out some advantage to it.
Nate Solder has opted out and Lane Johnson has Covid.
