The army don't get free doughnuts here and noone cares. They probably give them the shop if they want it in America, but including us in your little dig is just daft.

Apparently not as much as your lot. It's carers who get to wail about not being included in freebies here.
All that Wooton Basset shit was years ago now, we're well past the deification of the armed forces, thankfully. Although their mantle has now been taken by 'front line workers' or people who 'run towards danger' so it's swings and roundabouts. Teachers probably fancy trying to seethe their way into the equation somehow.
The same situation does happen here. The army don't get free coffee or doughnuts in Krispy Kreme, and noone cares.
There’s been some wild propaganda from companies here. Our local supermarket chain provided bags for the food banks to distribute food to those laid off. They’ve since seen the uptick in good publicity from having their logo on food bank goers and are advertising as if the supermarket are giving away the food to those people. Meanwhile they’re Not giving away any food and offering the equivalent Of 8p off a coffee for any hospital worker.
It's so strange whenever you see an old PMQs from the late Blair, Brown, or early Cameron eras (maybe it's only me that ever comes across such footage, but meh) and the respective leaders start by wasting two minutes each reeling off their sympathies for whoever had been blown up that week.
Even then, 'Our Boys' didn't have kids chalking murals on the pavements like 'Our NHS Heroes' now do. When are the brave and noble spare parts salesmen going to get their dues, I ask you.
Also, I saw it pointed out somewhere that within the NHS, the legends doing back office admin always get slated. No point having nurses unless someone's ordered the medicine.
I feel like NHS 'front-line' workers are being treated as heroes because for a few weeks there they were dealing with horrifying and traumatic shit on a daily basis. Of course the guy who orders meds is also necessary but he's not going home to have nightmares about it afterwards.
(with all respect to Our Lee)
The pubs being shut and nobody driving anywhere (eye testing legends excluded, natch) probably means they are facing a lot less horror and trauma than usual.
Facilitating death in the elderly is their bread and butter, no? Or was that just Shipman?
I can't imagine a situation where dumping an extra 30,000 deaths on the NHS isn't horror.
Good job they're all dying in 'the community' then, I guess.
The Itis got it hard though, they actually did have to make survival of the fittest decisions, though most were fucked anyway. We've been clapping people doing their jobs.
Nah it's always like this over here (to a greater or lesser extent, with this being the greatest of all extents).
NHS as represented by doctors and nurses is a national religion. Lee and his evil scumbag administrators trying to penny pinch on stethoscopes and introduce car parking charges are reviled.
Q for any Londoners but possibly just a public PM to Kiko, are there pubs serving takeaway pints till late? If so, is a piss-up basically fair game or are they being policed by SWAT teams nearby? If not, send mans some names, obviously wanting some outdoor sunning spots nearby.
None of the pubs in the immediate area to me is open. Clissold Park Tavern was open the other night at 8ish but not sure what time they're closing.
Ah yes, know it, top spot by the green too. Cheers.
Mans?
I'm only after using slang. Your man named Kiko understood.
Giggles has got a real hard on for Taz recently.
It will be interesting to see how long they keep going at him. I can't remember the British tabloids being denied a kill. Do they just carry on for months and we find out the virus has gone in the mean time?
That'll sell papers.
If I see that in the shop tomorrow I'm buying it.
Got a taxi home from the pub, I was his second fare in 8 hours because no-one's out/going to the airport/catching the train. I paid him double his fare and he gave me his number saying he'll give me my next 5 trips for free. Society
He's going to want a blowie at some point during those 5.
Uh oh...
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-...-dies/12287058A 30-year-old man from Blackwater in Central Queensland, tested positive for coronavirus, after he died in his home yesterday
The fatality brings the state's coronavirus death toll to seven.
Chief health officer Jeannette Young said the man is believed to have been sick with symptoms for several weeks.
Dr Young said the man had a "complicated" medical history and had not travelled outside of the town since February.
"He was at home for most of that time," she said.
His partner also has symptoms and has been taken to the Rockhampton hospital, however an initial test for COVID-19 was negative.
More to come.
I know you say it's Blair but the Iraq War broke the country. Absolutely lost any sense of vision and just started copying the Americans to cover their own arses.
The post 2003 Poppy being the perfect illustration of a country ashamed of it's actions but also unwilling to accept defeat.
Britain has been ill for a long time but this was the day it died:
Yeah, like your dad.
Guaranteed the public will be behind Boris even more now.
His approval has dropped something like 20 Points in the last 4-6 days.

You’ve literally just made up an opinion and implied it’s the majority opinion of 4 countries.
If at the point where the PM is quite evidently lying on the grandest possible scale in full public view at a time of national crisis his party still has a 10 point poll lead, I would be on Magic's side of the argument.
Their success or otherwise at the next election will be determined by the economic response to this rather than where Dominic Cummings drove 4 years earlier.
We seem to be conflating Boris with the Tory party here. I never mentioned an election.
People voted in the Tories either knowing and not caring what Johnson is or being too stupid to have realised (doesn't matter which), this being proven for the umpteenth time seems unlikely to make a difference when it comes down to it.
Keir Starmer is going to spend the three years leading up to the election whining about Brexit and wanting more immigration. The people who think this is all relevant are the same people who went round saying things like 'game changer' about One Nation Labour.
13 dead in Scotland. Half in the whole total being dead beats in a care home.
Get the border shut and pubs open.
