I need to get back to my old save. I want to see if Saviola keeps playing til 50.
I need to get back to my old save. I want to see if Saviola keeps playing til 50.
I downloaded it a while ago, since it's freeware and has a massive community of people doing updates etc, but I don't think it's aged well at all. Leave the memories alone.
It might be sacrilege but crap graphical match engine > no graphical match engine.
Phonics continuing the Arsenal traditions of ignoring the teams actual needs and buying a fancy new forward.
I go the other way on match engines, the modern ones are so bad I'd rather stick to text commentary and leave it to my own imagination.
The limitations of 01/02 when I went back to it were more the mechanics of the game/season lacking detail.
Won the League One playoffs in my first season in the league with Southport. Media prediction was 24th.
Only thing 01/02 is missing is right-clicking, otherwise it's the PERFECT GAME.
I'm a twit
Could just tap a mouse for 6 hours and save the download space.
I'd need flashing text saying "GOAL FOR NEWCASTLE!" to complete it, though.
I've been playing 0101 religiously for a fair while and the biggest downside is tactically you can't really try much too new as you already know what works but as far as speed goes, interface etc, it's in a league of its own.
Recent update, Tapani patch, you're set.
Mobile is decent if you want to be able to get through seasons at a good pace.
I'm currently downloading the touch one. Do I still have to do all that faffing around stuff to get real names etc?
I got Touch 2020 on my ipad, halfway through the season so far and it's ok. Real names wise I assume you mean stuff like Juventus being Zebre etc? I havent bothered looking to change it and also ios is a pain to install logo packs etc unlike mobile on android where you can look into the files so I havent bothered looking into it.
The main irritation with Touch for me is the in app purchase buttons, not sure if you can turn them off but the 'purchase dodgy lasagna' and 'buy magic sponge' buttons really irritate me. It's definitely and upgrade on mobile but hoping reports about it being too easy arent correct as I like trawling the market and turning clubs around.
I'm on the laptop but it's not good enough for the full version. I've sussed the real team name thing out, it was the same as it used to be. Just waiting on a logo pack now. I do agree with you about the purchase buttons too. I wasn't sure what you meant initially but one month in and aye, they are the pay to play things init. Robbo needing a specialist for three months right as the transfer window closes (no signings) did make the magic sponge button tempting though.
It's probably going to be easy being Liverpool given what I read in the thread early doors but I have an idea in mind.
Still playing Touch '17. It's flawlessly good.
£130M plus 20% profit sell on for Mbappe. Too much? First season, last few games left.

Nah, Mbappe is always worth it.

I only bid out of curiosity but it's ready to be confirmed, I just can't bring myself to do it yet as the intention was to not buy a single player and rely on youth when the first team started coming to an end but I am tempted to cash in on Salah so I can get a decade out of Mbappe instead.
Get him in
Woah, woah, woah, Mike. It's been a while since I have done FM but surely it can't be forgotten how reckless I used to be with the finances. This one requires thought in these uncertain times.
As a side note, I like that you can no longer see the youth intake on a particular date but when do I see what players I do actually have?
You don't get anything until March now, bar a cryptic email which says something along the lines of 'our youth prospects have loads of wingers and a top prospect from Kenilworth. There are no Centre Backs of note.'
Yeah that's what I am referring to. I am near the end of April and I still can't see what players they are referring to other than those cryptic things.
That's weird. Are you sure they're not sat in your Under 18's? You get them in a 'Youth Development' squad in mid-March like you used to.
I don't seem to have an U18's team. Just a reserves.

Is it because it's FM Touch and not the full version do you think?
It must be, but fuck knows when you get them. The season is all but done.
Touch, journeyman unemployed career with Sunday league experience. Got a job with Dorking in the VLS won the league exceeding expectations in my first season. Had a wobbly second season in the VNL and scraped avoiding relegation with a win on the last day of the season. Playing possession based attacking football with kids and no transfer budget, just bagged an absolute beast striker for season 3 but hope I can get some real form together, it's interesting dealing with contracts at this level but it would be nice to upgrade to a position of at least knowing players cant just leave when they want soon.
Posted my new tactic if yous fancy it:

Third season with Dorking was a bust, relegated and runners up in FA Trophy. Resigned and applied for a load of jobs only to end up managing Maidenhead in the same league Dorking have been relegated to. Foolishly just looked at their final league position and objectives and took the job. Turns out half of the good players are unhappy and leaving on free transfers. Had to do some real digging and despite unearthing a few diamond kids I think promotion is going to be a stretch. Fortunately I get the impression failure to get promoted will result in the sack so should be interesting. I don't expect to move up the leagues quickly but wouldn't mind a stint in Spain or Germany's lower leagues to mix it up.
I am managing Atletico in one of my Jman saves and we've given away 9 penalties in 24 games. I thought it would be tactical, but going through them it doesn't seem like it would be (and I've been using this tactic for like 3-4 season now and it wasn't an issue). It just feels like the game is cheating, Real, Barca and Bilbao (the rest of the top 4) have 0 penalties conceded. Pretty annoying.
I changed my tactics from 4231 wide possession to 4222 dm narrow geggenpress this season and ended up smashing the VNS with 108 points and a +73 GD
Started as Kings Lynn and I’ve gone from the VNS to League One in seven seasons. Barely any money and the promotion from League Two felt like a massive fluke as my squad was terrible I still had half a team of part-timers.
Anyway I struck upon an idea, look through all the Premiership U23’s for players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season. Then from April onwards any who have been scouted and come back as must sign I’m offering £0 for. Means I can tie the transfer up before they get released and all the other clubs come in and blow me away for wages. I’ve signed 9 players who all appear to be better than anything I have at the club with this little tactic and the benefit is rather than them all asking for over 1k a week I’ve managed to bid them all down on wages. Season only finished last week but my squad is pretty much built for next season already.
Very nice. I scored a keeper from Arsenal that way but 99% of them wont entertain me.
Suspect FM 2020 Touch has a bug. Was smashing the league but got a load of long term injuries and can't bring in replacements because there is an ongoing takeover that is simultaneously going well and badly on the same day.
Buckley Town - Season 2019/20
Season Summary
The media suggested a season of struggle was ahead after predicting us to finish in 16th place but fifteen transfers later the squad had a completely different look about it and it quickly became apparent that we would challenge. Corwen looked as though they would be tricky to catch early doors but they soon started to fall back around Christmas time and Bangor City were more late comers than a consistent thorn in our side.
In truth our position was never really threatened.
We enjoyed a run on both domestic cups and whilst losing in the semi finals was unfortunately, beating TNS in the Welsh Cup more than erased that memory and qualifies us for the Europa League next season which is an added bonus.
If we can keep the majority of the squad together on non-contracts whilst adding a few more numbers than I reckon we should be looking at avoiding relegation from the top flight with ease but I want regular Champions League football, ram packed stadiums and a steady flow of youngsters coming through.
A minor fuss was made when Kyle Smyth joined from rivals Flint Town but he answered his critics well with 15 in 42 but with 11 assists also.
After failing to make the grade with Cardiff City, Sam Wade had spent much of his career bumbling around and doing nothing much of note in the Welsh lower divisions, first with Goytre United and then with Llanelli but with 40 goals in 39(1) in his debut season at Buckley he's for sure a keeper.
Currently on sale, 1/3 off at the moment
My Sunderland team have been promoted twice on the bounce and have finished 6th at the first time of asking in the Premiership.
The squad needs investment, but our finances are still shite. £40 million to spend and I have a load of 30 somethings that have their contracts expiring that I really don't want to renew.
Will Grigg in particular is pissing me off. We've had 3 offers for his transfer listed arse, and he's rejected their contracts every time. He's leaving on a free now having sat on the bench all season scratching his arse and, - yes, wait for it - my bank balance is terrified.
My first team striker is currently a 17 year old 'wonderkid' that came through in last years youth crop. He was already Championship standard when he arrived, so worth the work to develop him, but he only bagged 8 goals this season. The fella needs to fix up.
Any decent cheap player recommendations welcome.
Are you managing your wonderkid's training and having him mentored?
Got Bristol Rovers to the Championship in 18 months, having taken over with the remit of avoiding relegation. Signed Lovren and King on free transfers to be mentors. Sacking off half the squad to survive next season now.
I mean, I've still gotten good value from the game, but the ME is admittedly fairly atrocious for 2020.
Is the ME still getting your full-backs to bomb on and put in back post crosses?
It's a bit more varied than that nowadays, but it still has a lot of the good old stuff, like 3-4 posts every other game, strikers unable to finish 1on1s, wingers shooting from insane angles and the likes. But hey, now you also have VAR. which, if you want to watch highlights means having the referee run all the way to the monitor, look at the monitor and walk back to the pitch to announce the decision (which is always a penalty if the doubt is "penalty or not", or 95% of the times a free kick if the doubt is "inside or outside the area"). And you can't skip it because "realism".
I never get the realism thing. If it was realistic I wouldn't be the manager of fucking Chelsea.
