I've just watched the new Horizon episode and the bit about what this does to your lungs has just made me think that the 'Flu' that me and my mrs had in January could have been this. It had already crossed my mind, but it just matches up so well.
I know it shares alot of symptoms with the Flu, including the potential to give people Pneumonia, but my wife had to have an x-ray on her chest because hers wasn't clearing up and the dr commented on it being odd that there were 'cloudy patches' all over her lungs and wanted to admit her then. Apparently that is odd, but not unknown, with Pneumonia following the Flu.
Still odds on that it was the Flu, but christ I hope we've had it.
But lives in San Francisco. California might come back in a matter of weeks, to be fair. Right in time for the state to catch fire for six months.
Fucked if I know. I thought he was stateside at the minute but he's probably like Phonics in that he winds up anywhere.
Some tinpot short haul destination (presumably with the assistance of one of the budget airlines) surely has the opportunity of a lifetime here to be the first place to reopen and just have everyone man and his dog turn up and go mental. Hungary have a fairly batshit leader don't they?
You in @Lee?
Kenny Dalglish has it.
Give him all the fucking ventilators before the Scousers cover him in scarves.
I’m expecting travel to resume the day before I’m booked to go, out of spite. I’ve mentally accepted a UK holiday at some point in the summer and would rather the decision be made for me re Greece so I can get a refund or shift it to next year.
Jet2 (not who I’m going with) saying they plan to start again from 17th June has me shitting myself. In ideal circumstances I want my holiday, obviously. But sitting on a plane for three hours and some cunt coughs? Nah.
Reckon I might be okay for my few nights in Poland at the end of August. It might just hit the ‘between waves’ sweet spot.
He's famous. That's the protocol.
'Contact tracing' is going to be the lasting nudge towards dystopia this whole thing brings about, as if we weren't already spied upon enough.
The only bright point of all this is that it’s got me out of having to do an airport for holidays for another year. 3 in a row now
I should be thankful for that, really. Booking things the way I did was going to see me hit 3 airports in 24 hours. Fly direct, kids. Or as near to it.
Drive onto a boat instead. Bliss.
We have flattened the curve and are tracking better than the Military lockdown in New Zealand.
Step aside Joh Narne.
That's class (as is the Hillsborough joke).
Schools will open in September.
Being stuck indoors in London in this weather must be unimaginably shit.
Well, on the continent many countries are re-opening schools next week. Maybe the UK is 2 weeks behind the rest of Europe instead of 1, so it'll be 3 weeks there.
That being said you're the British teacher here, so I'll defer to you in regards to whatever the behind the scenes machinations may be.
You don't reopen schools until September if you're in the process of grading exams.
Further education have been told to expect not to reopen until October.

BBC are apparently putting 14 weeks of online lessons and teaching resources. Using that as a barometer suggests schools won’t open again before September.
All the ‘government sources’ reporting at the moment is pointing to schools reopening in June. Which seems a bit pointless to me. Pubs and restaurants not long after. Apparently the idea is to open things in reverse order to which they closed. I can’t see the current situation going on any longer than until early June. We’ll just keep the oldies/sickies locked up for longer.
Those children are still in school.
Also on Lee’s point about schools re-opening in June, if it’s possible it’d be worthwhile. Transition visits (y6-7), open days, mock exams for y10/12, etc. Some people (not aimed at anyone) think term 6 is a piss about but if anything it’s often one of the busiest terms.
