Both those results seem to surprise even your own supporters than any real expectation that you'd take something from them tbf. You beat them fair and square at the Etihad and it should have been more. Our game against you, probably less so although a draw was probably a fair result given we were both shit on the day.
It depends which way you look at it. Obviously Alisson and van Dijk were pricey albeit offset by Coutinho's fee but the front three were peanuts in today's market. All three combined cost less than £100M probably.
So our good results against the top 6 are either because they're also shit or they were so surprising that they don't really count.
