From what everyone's saying today it sounds like they were all advising him against it and he just railroaded over them to force it through, which sounds very like him from what I've been told over the years. A truly dreadful man, as is Philip (Charles is fine).

What do they mean by associates?
I heard an interesting point the other day in that while rich, Epstein was not (on face value at least) at a level usually associated with maintaining a private island in the arse end of nowhere.
I imagine they can't call anyone a pedo in the media as they'll just sue. However given we know what went on, on the island, anyone found in this associate book they've found is almost certainly one.

The Prince Andrew stuff concerned a seventeen/eighteen year old, so he could claim by our laws he isn't a nonce as such and merely a user of high-end trafficked women, but Epstein himself had a load of kids running around his properties.
