I haven't received a code. Coming off a ban ay I
Checked last night and I’ve only got Volta and Kick Off. Genuinely don’t think I can be bothered to download it for that.
If I can get on tonight (which I doubt given they'll have surely underestimated the server demands) I'll play it for 4/5 hours and give my thoughts.
I doubt I'll touch Volta all year, just doesn't interest me.
Okay well this just got awkward.
I've been unable to use the companion app all through '19 as no matter which of my emails I use to log in, it tells me I have no active account in game. Checked the very first email address I used to sign up to FIFA way back in the day and there it was.
TTH first impressions session tonight then?
I got FUT and kickoff.
Went into FUT and was INSTANTLY booted.
This is going to be fun.
How have you downloaded it already?
Just started mine now, 523MB of 37.9GB done.
I downloaded last night but still at work for a few more hours.
Yeah, the objectives do look interesting and will help a lot with pack only accounts.
Is the FUT part actually playable in the beta or more of a tour of what's available in the full game?
Doesn’t cover playing but wanted to move my post here

I can't get into the FUT section without being insta-booted. However my thoughts from kick off:
- Passing seems much improved. Players seem to be able to better decide if the ball should go inside, or outside the full back for example. Your more gifted players are more able to get the weight of the pass spot on.
- Player animations seem more fluid. For example, if a pass is slightly behind your player they can bring it under control without having to stop dead or face the other way. It may go slightly ahead of them, but it makes much more sense to continue the momentum, than stop dead in the tracks.
- Finishing seems more sensible. You're not banging in 35 yard volleys with your back to goal with Blanc on this one. Whereas get Salah into the box and you can tuck away reliably. You don't have to use the same finish each time either.
- General play is rewarded. The idea of the game seems to be to using passing or the odd skill move to break open a defence and get into the box. La Croqueta spam is gone. You might get 2 off but every time after the ball is getting further out of control. Though this did score me a goal. A miscontrol after a 2nd Croqueta actually went into space behind the defender and Salah got it first to bury it.
I feel like a 4-3-3 with 1 DM may be popular this year.
- Defending seems to give you a choice. No longer can you just put the controller down and let the AI do it. You either sit and hold your shape, which if you do it well, will work. Or you can press the ball. The key point here is by doing the latter, or being bad at the former, you pull players out of position. Add that to everything I've mentioned above and your opponent can tear you up.
- Speed also seems to have been fixed. I sent Salah in behind Aurier from the halfway line. Even with Salah having the ball from about 40 yards out, Aurier could not catch him.
Ah-fucking-men for the last one.
is it likley do you reckon Fox that 11 men behind the ball and countering won't be anywhere near as effective this year?
The more I think about FIFA19 it was such a steaming pile of shit to play. Easily the least enjoyable since I've got back into the series.
Aguero is pulling my team of absolute shit to pretty good in squad battles.
Oh and Sincere, no detailed stats again.
How many attempts did it take you to get in Mahow?
FUT always plays differently to kick off mode, so it's hard to tell. But it's not as easy as pinging one ball in behind now.
It will still be effective to some. I mean teams wouldn't do it so much in real life if it didn't. But you're now requiring the opponent to keep in their shape and then play out when they get the ball back.
Got in first time.
I know the pack weight is enhanced for the beta, but this might a good time to road test a pack only game.
EDIT: Scrap that, just got booted from the starter pack choice screen.
Ffs. I’ve tried that many already. Bodes well.
Finally in. Took about 25 attempts I think.
Jonjo Shelvey and Aguero on loan the highlights of the starting squad.
In, playing SB and looking to get to full Gold and Silver and 100 chem as quickly as possible to get on with placing in Rivals and making the weekend league.
This fucking grey box thing gonna be flying around all the fucking time?
Some thoughts:
The way the squad battles rewards are displayed is so dumb.
The milestone objectives are rubbish, no one is going to score 100 bicycle kicks without just whacking it on easy thus defeating the point. The rest of the objectives look very good and open up some sweet possibilities.
The pack opening animation is like something out of Brass Eye. Which might not be a bad thing.
Went into Squad Battles and played the hardest team from the four on Professional difficulty. Game feels a bit ponderous and controlling the ball odd, but that might be due to the sheer number of bronze shit in my team.
No idea what I'm doing with pens.
Yeah it's so they know who to punish if some video/screenshot from the Beta gets put on the internet.
Payet and Saul from my Electrum Players Pack , handy since I’m looking to build a French side.
You know it doesn't carry over to the full game right?
It gets wiped on the 21st.
& Chiellini from a 2 player pack from the SBCs. 212k min list
Just sold a silver healing card for 2,500. Nuts.
The coin balance in this is so broken.
Completing SBC's (the selecting players part) is horrific.
Yes, I don't like that you can't just switch to the next slot with R2/L2 anymore.
I don’t like the squad/players UI’s one bit. As long as the app is decent it’s fine though as I do 90% of my squad building and management on there
There’s 250k coins rewarded for 100 finesse goals ffs. That’s Maybe 10 squad battles on amateur for finesse, more for chips but i’ve Scored 4 of those just in the two games I’ve played.
DC’d in my first Rivals game despite have 365mb/s and 10ms ping. Fucking frustrating.
You also don't seem to be able to clear the squad in one go anymore either.
Oh and the radial wheel thing is absolute arse.
Finally got in. England starter pack. Jack Cork being my feaured player. Aguero as my loan.
Going through the menu and the objs it feels very slow. Andreas Pereira in my first pack filling in a hole in my side!
I had a freekick early on and the icons for freekicks stuck over his Andreas Pereira's head for a while. It then moved to my keeper and then anyone peforming a 'restart' (goal kicks, throw-in etc)
Played a few games now and while I didn't think it was possible forward runs are even worse than last year.
Just got 30,000 coins and a Rare Consumables Pack from what I assume is the daily beta gift.
Opened a 7.5k pack and Umtiti popped out.
I packed Malcolm and not much else from that. A couple of prem players so I now have a full prem team.
Game feels a lot slower. Although, as someone noted above, I am not sure if its just the shit players.
