"England have lost all 10 wickets in a session three times in the last three years, having previously not done so since 1938."
I'm prepared to blame it all on James Vince. Even if he didn't play in any of those.

All jokes aside, getting bowled out by Ireland before lunch on day 1 is pathetic and heads must roll.
Whose?
I mean I don't doubt there are plenty to choose from I'm just curious.
I remember us doing it vs Bangladesh, that was truly grim. Was the Roston Chase Match another one of the times?
Yep. Plus this cracker

Murtagh
what an innings
Rarely seen anyone don a day's Test cricket so comprehensively. Ended up in credit for runs.
Wait, we sent Jack Leach out to open?
That strikes me as something that can't have happened very often, a night watchman opening the batting.
I mean it helps get our inevitable first-over wicket on the nth day of a test out of the way. Of course it'll be Burns who goes but you can't win 'em all.
The thing is, if you flipped England's batting order back to front and then looked at it only from the scores with the names omitted how often would you notice a difference?
Excruciating innings from Burns. Out of nick? Out of his depth? Both? Neither?
Having never really seen him bat for Surrey I am kind of baffling he made so many runs without ever scoring on the off side.
A bespectacled Jack Leach stroking it to all parts though
Leach to open in the Ashes then. Sorted.
Now he’s batting in a lurid pink headband. Hero.
Come on you useless tarts, get McBrine on.
That'll be from... what... a total 24 innings? Is it two three match series we've had since he chucked it?

The live text is making it sound like Roy only has two modes here: Lovely flowing stroke or about-to-collapse-in-a-heap.
Sounds promising.
Context here is I suspect Ireland are worse than all 18 counties.
I had the T20 on last night and got to see a glorious 0 (2) from James Vince, nicked off chasing a length ball outside off.
Gutted for Leach. Won’t get a better chance for a test ton
I just wish I'd been at home or in the sun somewhere watching / listening.
I remember how invested I was in Anderson's 80-odd innings and desperately willing him to get the century.
Right, I can just about bear this thread again with the World Cup in the rear view mirror. It's not England winning - I'd made myself OK with that a long time ago. It's the way it all finished up, and NZ being on the receiving end. That was very tough to watch.
I've got the rivers of tears frozen in ice boxes now, that way I'll always be able to enjoy some more with an evening G&T.
I thought you were here to talk about the Graeme Hick XI vs. the Brad Haddin XI.
*XII
There's a good picture of the Hick XII celebrating their win and Mitch Marsh looks like it's genuinely the highlight of his career.
I think my brain just edited the extra Is out there.
Moeen seems to have completely lost it, sadly.
Just as his bowling hit its highest height his batting has just fallen apart.
Fucking Bairstow though
This is worse than the first innings. It’s a flat pitch, no swing and about a million degrees and they’ve just thrown it away time and time again.
Massive credit Ireland to keep plugging away when it was looking grim with Leach and Roy.
Yeah, nightwatchman bunny sent in to open being top scorer says it all. We're an absolute shambles.
Bairstow needs to be dropped for Foakes with some urgency.
I followed a link to a Guardian article about this which had the line "For years now the Australian and English boards have been involved in a reverse arms race, from water pistols to pop guns to pointing rubber bananas, as the home side arranges ever-weaker opposition for its rival."
If this is being done intentionally then it's laughably petty.
The best one was in 12/13 when India rolled out a full team of medium pacers in its Board XI so that we wouldn't get any practice against spin (we won the series, lol).
A SWASHBUCKLING (probably?) 21 from Broad being our fifth-highest score. Great.
As if we've just set Ireland 182 to win a Test at Lord's.
I am going to win about £800 if they do it so I'm afraid all patriotism is out the window.
*with three days to get them.
But they're not gonna do it.
How much did you put on?? I think I put like a fiver on them.
Unfortunately for your bank balances, England seem to have belatedly discovered the tactic of “pitching the ball up” and it is paying dividends.
What you mean is that we've begun to execute our skills.
We're gonna fucking smash Australia 5-0 too. I'd forgotten how amazing we are.
K O'Brien is going to need to pull another of those innings out of the bag for them to get this. It was him last time, wasn't it?
We've been absolute piss, but I've only just caught up with the Australia warm-up effort where there batting seems to be almost as bad. It's going to be a horrific series. Everyone over in 3 days and it'll be ruinous for the counties' finances.
Yeah it's looking like it has the potential to be an absolute shitfest.
Broad learning his lesson from that 6? Doubt it but he will think he is a genius.
This is about where Ireland are, really. Love Adair though, think he'll be a great player for them.
Leaving our best opener out of the first test.
I couldn't believe that, given that it's a 14.
Our batting is so shit it's untrue. I really don't get the fascination with Denly.
Somebody called Steve James at the Times says we should be shunting Denly up to open with Burns.
I didn't bother reading to find out the reasons.
