No, it isn't.
Is the island called Ireland? Yes.
Is he going to the island? Yes.
Therefore he's going to Ireland. Whether the country is also called Ireland makes no difference.
Googs dropping his facade of indifference when Ireland is involved, as per usual
Ireland needs a new name, along the lines of the dismissive things we used to call it, to reflect its provincial status within the European Union. Hibernia would be a good one, but I'm open to suggestions.
They seem to dislike Southern Ireland, so just go with that.
I thought it was Éire anyway, Côte d'Ivoire style.
Hitting him where it hurts: his actions in 1921.
I'm a twit
You're right on the Ireland/Sincere thing though, even if you have gone at it like a bit of a madman.
Or being a bigot, swings and roundabouts.
Ireland is the name of both a country and an island. If you are visiting Belfast you are both 'visiting Northern Ireland' AND 'visiting Ireland'. I'm not sure why that's controversial at this point.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ireland
Ireland is an island in the North Atlantic.
Politically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland), which covers five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.
All semantics aside, if someone says they're going to Ireland and it turns out they're going to Belfast then they're either a bit of a div or a mental.
Aye, I'd have words. That's like saying you're going to Korea and then touching down in Pyongyang. Maybe.
For the most part Ireland means Eire / The Republic / Whatever I'm meant to be saying but for all this to have stemmed off something Sincere said is ludicrous.
Is there anything more TTH than a 2 page battle of semantics?
Racism It's a bit late for you lot to start playing the victim.
This City away kit is beyond reprehensible.
Sterling skying the penalty is reprehensible
Inter have been making some ridiculous tackles for a friendly; proper shithouse behaviour.
Wan Bissaka is amazing.
Mason Greenwood
Ben Somebody took charge again and we beat West Ham 1-0. Shelvey seems to like Bruce because he talks to him.
Man city should have won clearly, but lost to Wolves in the final on penalties of the Asai Cup. Are Wolves winning the league?
I think as they're the first team to beat Man City since they won the league that they are now the champions. Legally speaking Man City should be dropping off the title to the ground within a week.

Germans currently rule the world.
Was that Buffon in goal? Lol at them spending all that money on De Ligt and having him in nets this season.
Yea, it was szczesny.
Lucky they made it clear which bit of Ireland they're talking about.
The soccer team is officially called 'The Republic of Ireland' even though the country isn't because both states on the island used 'Ireland' for a time so FIFA banned both from using it to avoid confusion. Legitimately we should be allowed use it if they had any backbone though.

Fax. Another British invention.
That is indeed correct also.
