They might not look the best but freshly made little balls of fried dough covered in what is basically warm Nutella sauce? Fucking delicious.

I could see it better when I zoomed in (on the mobile). They do look good.
I ate loukoumades once and have been trying to find it ever since. It’s so unbelievably good
Anyone in Birmingham? Need a curry recommendation for tonight.
Also in Southampton/Brighton for the next week - anyone any food recommendations there? Can’t remember who lived there - @SvN @Andy @Offshore Toon @niko_cee
I've been to east2east I few times and it's a good place for a curry

Terre a Terre is good in Brighton, although it is a vegetarian gaff. Food for Friends too but same applies. But, you know, when in Rome and all that.
Otherwise, I don't know, that 62 degrees place is meant to be good (I think that's it's name) and there's a micro chain of places called the ginger x,y or z which is meant to be good (think it has something to do with masterchef).
I remember going to a Turkish/Persian place on Church Road in Hove a wile back which was decent.
The Chinese all flock to some fish and chip place called The Regency on the sea front, which, despite that billing, is meant to be good.
Casa Don Carlos is decent if you don't mind tapas places.
I haven't lived there in 5 years, but this was great back then - https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restau...s_England.html
On the expensive side, but superb food and service. Great cocktails too, according to the wife.
@niko_cee do you have any recommendations for Jersey?
I like El Tico on the west coast. But maybe mostly for the vibe when it's sunny. The food is good and if you're there for an evening when it's warm and sunny I can imagine it's a pretty great place. I think they have loads of good places over there. I went to that Bohemia place years ago and thought it was really excellent, and comparatively bargainous for a starred joint. I think they have a few Michelin type places if that's your bag - they've defnitely had a few great british menu folk I think. Being the owner of multiple children most of the places I go to are't necessarily that great. The original crab shack in Gorey is decent, and there's another place there down by the harbour which I remember being good a few years ago. Offy's probably more your man though, even if he no longer lives there. I go over there most years, but tend to do the same things, none of which are particularly focused on food excellence.
Hierarchy of importance - Does it open at 5.30? Does it have a kids menu? Is is ostensibly decent?
Maybe I need a niko recommends tag.
Still relatively useful. I'm thinking Offy will sort out the ket.
The British menu one is called Samphire. Ł130 for their taster menu. 😨
Yeah, things have changed and prices have aligned somewhat. When I did that Bohemia place it was c.Ł50 for 3 courses (with a few micro ones in between) when you'd have been looking at easily double that in London. Quality was equivalent.
There's also a cracking beach pizza place on, I think, Portlet beach. It's not necessarily the best pizza ever, but, again, the location on a good day is second to none.
Cheers guys.
Forgot to check back after posting but Pushkar was where I picked @SvN as it was top of Deliveroo. British curry of the year last year. Was awesome.
Went to a BBQ place in Southampton after a loooooong day at Peppa Pig World.
This was worth the wait though
Are you doing a tour of the cities I've lived in?
Peppa is a girl. Get with it Boydy.
@SvN seems that way! I didn’t realise you had lived here to be fair. Didn’t see much of it really, heading to Brighton later on today.
How much was all that? Might be worth a trip over.
It's about a standard Indian here so I'm not too sure what's going on.
Might be an absolute disaster but I'm definitely going to try it.
For science, you understand.
I tried poutine once, was shit. Didn’t even taste like anything, which is made worse by the fact that it’s literally the unhealthiest food you could possibly eat
That sounds almost impressive, to make something with a combination of cheese and gravy taste of nothing.
Is the gravy on poutine like that American pale beige sauce or like English greehhveeehhhh.
From pictures I've seen it looks to be closer to our stuff.
You've only tried American 'gravy' though, right?
Well, the Canadian. Which is what poutine is.
If the gravy tastes of nothing then what the fuck are you lot up to?
I doubt it's better than chips, cheese and gravy (proper gravy, not watery shite you get in the south of England, thick like tar) anyway.
I made a veg paella last night and it was pretty brilliant. Easier than I expected it to be, too. Like risotto but you don't have to spend your evening standing there stirring it.
Yes, the one in this excellent book.
Here's a picture of it because I'm a good guy. I wasn't overly sold on the artichokes so you could leave them out, or just chop them up smallish if you put them in. I lobbed some runner beans in which were good. Chickpeas or beans are probably good in it. Don't skimp on the paprika.

It was a touch bitter too but it worked well.
Went for some top quality lunching today at The Salt Room in Brighton.
Seafood haters looks away now:
Cider cured sea trout with ponzu, apple & kohlrabi..
Scallops with smoked paprika, lime & coral butter.
Octopus with white beans, cider and seaweed gremolata
Salt cod fritters with whipped smoked cods roe.
BBQ monkfish with char siu, crispy pork belly and sweetcorn
Currywurst is my tip for 'National dish that everyone raves about but is actually awful'.
Thirded. Weisswurst is the wurst you need. Preferably with a beer at about 8.45am.
What's the one with cheese in it? As in mixed in with the meat. That's the best'un. Extra cheese on top, onion, sauerkraut, mustard.
I'm fucking hungry now.
I'm a big fan of currywurst.
I've had a thing called Käsewurst which was a sausage with cheese piped into it like a jam doughnut. Interesting, quite nice, but ultimately quite perverted.
Googling käsewurst actually brings up what you say rather than what I said, so it might just have been another one of my sausage dreams.
I'd prefer to watch a sausage being stuffed with liquid cheese, to be honest.
Funnily enough I went to The Salt Room at Easter but I wasn't that impressed.
Looks like taking the Jay Rayner approach and just ordering the menu might have been an idea though.
@Adamski
That looks cracking. The octopus dish especially.
