Planning your turn helps as well, if only to avoid the teeth gnashing frustration of failing a block and realising you forgot to stand half your team up.
I played about an hour of BloodBowl and it seemed absolute nonsense to play against an AI. I can imagine two equally skilled humans being fun though.
It was always useful for learning new teams or testing skill combos but yeah, playing against people is where the real game is.
I had 8 relics, 100+ HP and multiple upgraded cards, three board moves (including rest) and decided to go for a ? and an Elite then lost by 3hp to the Act 1 Boss. I would have absolutely destroyed the next city if I'd played 2-3 cards differently across the whole time (maxed out block turn against an elite I didn't notice gained strength on skills and got hit for 25 instead of the 16 I was trying to block)
If you can get to learn the best synergies you'll start wrecking the game. Once you've got a few on lockdown (dead branch + corruption and/or a couple energy relics is fucking lol as an example). My favourite run so far:
Snecko Eye (makes all cards random costs, so the more 2+ energy cards you have, the better it is) + five upgraded Perfected Strikes (base damage and +3 damage for every card with 'strike' in the name) + a ton of strike cards = Time Eater dead in five turns. Double tap (next attack is played twice) for days too. So strong I didn't need block.
Also this one:
Everytime ya use a feed it adds a copy to ya hand.
Here's a Dead Branch run from a mate:
This guy is also seen as pretty much the best Spire player around, his videos are very, very helpful if you really want to learn the game:

I leant into Anger builds early on but I wasn't combining it with enough draw to make it worth it. Also made a couple of decks that revolve around loads of Shrug It Off/Cheap Block + Body Slam.
This just got me to floor 40:
and this is the one I mentioned above that I died stupidly on:
Think everythings a bit too built around relics but apart from that it's a fun thing to play with tv on in the background.
That low key build
Always always remove strikes unless a specific build calls for them. They're utter gash. Defends are more useful.
Low card count, the second run. Curses can actually be a help at times, oddly. Certain relics make them worthwhile (+1 strength per curse etc), but yeah usually get rid of those suckers. Removing strikes has never let me down tbh, there's a Youtube vid of some geezer winning a run with a four card build, its madness.
Bah, my RE 2 run for the A rank was on until I used a first aid spray out of spite because I thought I was shit for time. 2:53, two saves.
Did a bit of Far Cry 5 yesterday. One of the purchasable vehicles is a tractor so I instantly approved, even before I'd got my little dog chum.
The Resi Evil 2 remake is so good I just let out a legit yelp walking backwards into a corpse hanging from the ceiling after hearing a window break behind me.
@Dark Soldier
I thought you'd enjoy this. I start every fight with +3 strength, 3 shivs and 4 backstabs.
Damn man, unlucky! Getting closer though
DiRT Rally 2.0 is alright, although there's no vibration on PS4 for some dumb reason. There's settings for it but no feedback. Looking at some forums, it's a regular issue for Codemasters.
What isa good four player online game on the PS4? Preferably with an online story mode.
Might be worth waiting for a Game of the Year edition or something, seeing as their DLC plans are selling the 'first season' back to you. I know Jimmy Broadbent had some audio issues on PC as well. Like, all the sound vanishing for a stage. He seems convinced that's not a problem on his end.
It's also bringing into stark light just how bad I am at rallying.
You have to stick to the 60s Mini. Things get ugly very quickly if you go for anything more powerful.
Got stuck in Resi and solved the puzzle without even playing the game, just thinking about it. I've done an absolute 180 on Resi based on this game. I might give 4 a go after this.
They start with a Lancia Hulvia or something which is pretty planted. I've given the Mini a shot which seems fun. Used some money for a Ford Escort as well just to edge up the power stakes a little. Seems like you can get money pretty easily in career and the challenge comes from unlocking the difficulties. Also, mystery solved on the disappearing vibration. My PS4 pad's rumble engines are broke. Looks like I'm relying on pace notes and visual feedback for feel, then.
Just got to a part in Resi where a giant invincible motherfucker is chasing me round the house and these things with big tongues are everywhere. This game makes me shit bricks left and right.

I like the look of this.
Just let out a scream playing Resi being chased by the big dude when I decided to hide in a room only for a licker to jump through a window and try to eat me. I've never, ever had a game affect me like this. I can only play like 20 minutes at a time.
If there's one thing they do better in the original, it's Mr X's entrance.

I don't know, throwing a previously on-fire helicopter out the way on your own allowing for two parts of the world to connect is pretty fucking badass.
I love the mod that gives him DMX music.
I mean, the hat really brings his look together but dropping him in like a bunker buster made me giggle when I saw it the other day. And the implication that Umbrella have tons of them.
Shooting off a (lab grown unstoppable horror-)man's hat? You're definitely the bad guy here.
@Dark Soldier
I did it
Shivs were doing 25 damage at the end. I shit myself when I found out the boss had two forms and I was down to 9 hp.
And I completed Resi. What a game, I missed an immense amount of stuff as well.
Codemasters having the game ping their servers for everything, even single-player content, is a bit of a problem. Found myself liking this Ford Fiesta, though.
The online at all times thing is extremely irritating. There probably is no coming back from it though.
Why are games like that though?
They use your data for gameplay/sales/marketing analysis. Also they're normally connected to a store which needs connection to shoot you ads to buy a new car with real money etc.
Having played another good chunk of it over the weekend Apex Legends is properly good. Shits all over PUBG and Fortnite from a remarkable height.
Some of the playerbase do need to fuck off though, as ever.
"You took the character I prefer to play as even though it doesn't really make that much difference?" *instaquit*
Gran Turismo Sport Progress

11,056/24,855 distance driven (miles)

Im now reaching the half way point of the platimum grind. Ive started a new grinding method as doing over 80 races, making left turns around an oval track every 12 minutes is now a headache. Im now racing around Le Mans every 7 minutes for only 100 XP less, per minute is way more interesting. By my calculation, I will have to do this race just over 300 times to reach my XP goal.
I don't like it.
Much prefer PUBG. It's better than Fortnite though.
