Wife works in wine so vineyard producers visit the office now and again. This lot came in who are producers on an island off Venice which experiences flooding, they are the only ones who grow the dorona grape. https://www.venissa.it/en/wine/ pretty immense stuff, almost like a dessert wine but not as sweet.

Also the Tomatin is in , not opened it yet https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskie...dition-whisky/

The website is just showing the Oatmeal stout but it's not even showing the one you're drinking so they might be seasonal.

That's the one I'm on. Ratebeer has others but yeah, they might be limited editions or something that are now hard to get unless you find a random bottle somewhere.

The good off-licence in town has that one you're on in stock for definite. I must go and get a look in the local place tomorrow and see what they have.

Go and get one, it's swish.

Currently having a 'Wildebeest' by Wild Beer. I don't dislike some of their more unusual stuff but when they want to just do a really good, "normal" beer (in this case an imperial stout) they fucking nail it.

The difference between that stout and something like the Narwahl Sierra Nevada is massive. Both around the 10% but the Boyne is full of flavour and the SN is just like methylated spirits.

Also get some White Hag if you see it anywhere. Along with Blacks of Kinsale they're still the peak of brewers here, the New England IPA is gorgeous.

I've had some White Hag stuff before, I think they were at a couple of the CAMRA festivals round Glasgow this year too.

Something like Tom Crean is lovely stuff, this has a bit of a putrid taste off it.

Good dark glass too so it's unlikely to be mercaptan build up making it stinky.

I'll put it down to a bad one, especially when their other stuff is so nice. As Spikey says, the worst you could say about a lager is that it's tasteless but this was rank.

Went to the pub now anyway to see what's stirring and this Heineken is infinitely better.

"All The Leaves Are Brown" by Tempest. A maple-infused, bourbon barrel aged imperial stout.

Beer festival at the Cricketers tomorrow. Literally been counting down the days since July. My rugby lad mate Tom can’t come this time (he’s at the rugby) so we’ve subbed in a lad called Allan. Be sure to follow me on Twitter for Untappd reviews of each and every beer we try, complete with a photo of whoever is drinking it.

Can’t wait to try Dinkelacker. Might be a mistake to get it first drink (imagine going a beer festival full of potentially okay-to-iffy beers but starting with a lovely pint of Erdinger, would you wanna switch? I would cos the risk is part of the enjoyment, but it could end up in multiple pints of disappointment) but I probably will.

Going at 12 this time too, whereas last time we only got there at about 3:30, so loads more time. Rugby doesn’t start til 6 so hopefully by then we’ll be drunk and skint and happy to go home before it gets too rammed.

    So excited.

I shall be joining @Baz and, as always, drinking lager apart from one pint of disappointment while it’s a beer festival.

Ooh and the Erdinger rip-off we’ve both waiting so long for.

The Balkan one? It's alright so far - bit too heavy for me, kinda like the Polish one. Nothing that's really stood out.

Clothes peg on the menu for the bin beers.

There's some surprisingly wanky places in Dundee including a speak'easy.

Yeah it's a subscription thing and they send you a bunch of beers with a theme. So this one's theme was the Balkan. I've been quite happy with the others I've had so far I just think pilseners are a total waste of time.

This Pozoj IPA is the best one I've had out of this box. Left all the dark ones until last.

Pilseners are fine if you want something on a hot day and don't want to be impeded by anything confusing like flavour.

I wish I could just sample a few cans of poncy IPA of an evening. Having "a couple" has never done shit for me. Just end up feeling tired and sloppy whilst simultaneously wanting to keep drinking until I'm wankered.

Being provided with the telephone number of a private pharmacist who delivers locally has introduced a new issue, in that I find it very difficult to resist texting him when I am properly pissed, and I really can't afford it and it makes me feel like shit for days afterwards. I would just stop drinking entirely but real life can be quite boring. Currently experimenting with a teetotalism work pattern of ~6 weeks on, 1 day off, and just accepting the inevitability of getting into a dodgy man's car (not like that) at some point.

Never seen Giggs mention the stuff in fairness (although it can be filed under ‘alright’ too).

Yeah, I bought a crate of that a while ago and it was alright.

On the subject, I'm just working my way through a box of Bad Co stuff and I think I'm going to try the milk stout. Rest of it has been pretty decent.
