Ive played four games now with two wins and two draws on legendary. I like it.
* you can now position edit individual players likeyou could in the old pro evo games. You can play one player at LM, and the other player at RW. I haven't noticed if they actually do play those positions but i suspect they do
* the pressing settings on this version is for real. I always wanted my player to press like the AI and now they do if instructed too
Coupe things i dont like
* crossing and heading is super strong
* centre-backs at free kicks and corners still do not always go forward and are on the edge of the area like idiots
Other things ive noticed
* trying to get the ball to my CAM is now increasingly difficult.
* using a CDM in possession is ridiculously useful.
* Juventus using the default settings fee absolutely perfect for my play style
What's this like as a stand-alone soccer game to play with real teams vs the CPU these days? I was hugely disappointed with the last PES but that was normally the more realistic one over the years and FIFA was all physics defying tricks and 8-8 draws. Has it changed much?
Not including Ultimate Team? If so, I think Wullie plays it that way so he'd be a better judge than I, but my gut would be not very good.
This was posted in the FIFA subreddit, actually looks like it could be fun

Any news on when the web app is up?
It usually goes live not long after the demo comes out so I'd reckon Wednesday or Thursday.
I'd missed Paulinho popping off back to China. What a strange last couple of years he's had.
That team looks like decent fun, Yev, but the chemistry could be a lot better. Put Kondogbia where Partey is and get Banega in on the right.
The midfield is definitely the bit that needs tweaking, but never been a fan of Banega.
FIFA has been the better game since the first iterations released on the PS3. Prior to that Pro Evo was miles ahead, but they made a real arse of that first version on the new console generation and haven't ever caught up.
Some interesting stuff in this feed (scroll back a bit): https://twitter.com/Fifanomicsnet/media
I don't think that's the case, to be honest. I think they're close to each other but the small differences feel massive if you're going from one to the other. I kinda like how the demo feels. Just had the one game on amateur just to get a feel for it. Let the AI play itself on Legendary and it looked a little fast-forward. Fry said years ago that when you turn FIFA AI up, it gets better at FIFA, rather than trying to be smarter at football. As a result, there's a lot of playing in dangerous areas, one-twos that are unnecessary but get away with it. It's showboaty which is kinda how EA like to represent the sport.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the year I get back into it. In like .... March next year when they don't sell it for £60.
The choose a player packs (if available enough) could be facking sweet.
They use them a lot in Madden's Ultimate Team and they're great.
Makes me all the more determined to go for the grind and not use points.
My early doors XI looks similar to yours, @Yevrah
A couple faves from the early days of 18 in there with Semedo, Gameiro and a few of whom I really enjoyed the later upgrades of - Pavard, Roussilon, Wass.
Pre-ordered the Ultimate edition and it's downloading now.
Didn't realise you get an 80-83 rated Champions League player pick with it.
How is it letting you download it now? I've also pre-ordered the Ultimate.
I won't be able to play it until the early access goes live, but it's obviously gone gold, pending numerous patches.
EDIT: I posted it not to gloat btw, more to let anyone know who was thinking of getting it and playing it at launch that they can download it now and save a bit of time. It's 39.8 GB.

No luck with my Amazon pre-order.
I'll have to download when it releases.
EA have confirmed that pack probabilities will be in FUT this year. They include the following in the announcement, which is patronising in the extreme and makes me think Miles Jacobsen is running their PR team.
It also suggests that they'll be gaming their own system as much as possible. I'd lay down significant money that they're rounding everything up and that the chances of getting a special card, if advertised as 1%, is actually 0.1%.Any probability percentages that you see are on a pack-by-pack basis and are not cumulative. That means that each pack opening is an independent event; opening multiple packs does not change the likelihood of being awarded an item from a specific category. If you flip a coin three times and get heads each time, you still have a 50% chance of getting heads if you flip the coin again.
The article; https://www.easports.com/fifa/news/2...-probabilities
Its about time I pre-order this. I will probably go with the Champions Edition so I can play it early. My pack luck is awful so the different between 20 and 40 is light.
I just saw this article. The probabilities they've given are so vague but working off what they've given, the chance of packing an 84+ rated player is apparently 4.5%.
If we give EA the benefit of the doubt and assume all players have the same chance of appearing, then the chance of packing one specific player is 4.5% divided by the number of players (around 140 non icon players rated 84+).
That gives a best case scenario of pulling one specific player of 0.03% from each pack you buy, and an expected number of packs until you get him being 1/0.0003= 3333 packs or around (150*3333 = 500000 FIFA Points). Buying points at 12000 for £79.99 puts that at £3333.
If you want to pull a rare player like Ronaldo then the odds are going to be substantially higher - you'd assume that each rating point makes the player rarer as well as rarity being inconsistent within rating as well. I'm sure in practice higher pace/more desired players appear less often than slow centrebacks. You could easily spend well over £10k and not pull him which is pretty grim.
Yep, the weights are awful, which is nothing we didn’t know anyway, but at a 4.5% chance for an 84+ rated player there’s essentiallly no point opening Premium Gold Packs.
At £1.20 pet pack it’s essentiallly the best part of £30 spent before you should get an 84 rated player and we all know that’ll be Bernardo Silver anyway.
Is this game released on Thursday to customers who have purchased a certain edition or has my friend got it wrong? He was fairly sure he is getting access to the full game this Thursday?
All in here Boom-Boom:

After playing GT Sport, I thought having match creation every 15 minutes was a stupid idea. After playing it for a month though. It is actually brilliant. It stops people from backing out of games when higher ranks are matched up and also improves connectivity as everyone is searching for a game at exactly the same time. It would be good if FIFA did something like this.
Imagine if every 20 minutes, match creation opens and everyone is searching for a game at exactly the same time. If you back out, that's it. You have to wait another 20 minutes to match up with players again. It sounds like it could work...
Info about Weekend League. Its now 30 games
https://www.easports.com/fifa/news/2...weekend-league
The new 'form' factor sounds good.
Xbox man. The game is available to download right now it appears.
Won't be activated until the release date though. They did the same thing last year, presumably to get a few extra quid out of those who otherwise wouldn't download it because their internet connection isn't fast enough to get it on release day.
If you have EA access you can play it now.

TOTW 1
That’s tonight sorted then. Will open the starter packs on the game and do all the team management on the web app to maximise game time on the squad battles rewards.
Ryan Fraser there looks like an early monster. Beside being three feet tall, I suppose. No back post headers for him.
I'd prefer Pepe. Bit of a meh team all round though.
All of the Prime Icons are apparently available in packs at launch.
Not sure I like that idea.
Had some free packs, best I got was a Koscielny.
Do we expect player prices to rise after the full release?
Players don't seem too badly priced at the moment. I must have got about 25,000 worth of players from free packs.
Got a load of bobbins in my free packs, but have almost ended up with a full gold squad full of ragtag rejects. Danny Ings and Sanabria up front
TOTW Yarmalenko in my welcome back packs.
Also got a nice bunch of prem players from my backs. Not sure what my first team will be but the game is pushing me that way
My mate who always has stupid pack luck as been telling me all summer how this is the version he grinds it properly.
He's put £15 on today and got Ronaldo in his 2nd pack. He can get to fuck.
I'm still at work (don't ask), but I'm more determined than ever to grind this one.
We'll see how long that lasts.
Early access not working for me on Xbox one. Grrr.
EDIT: Had to go through the EA Access hub.

Lost my first Squad Battle on Legendary 6-1.
In the demo on legendary, I didn't find it too difficult. I suspect it will be once I play the real game in FUT.
How you lot finding the new shooting mechanic?
I turned it off as I wanted to rack up as many squad battle points as possible. Obviously that's going well.....
Oh and the interface and pack opening animations look so dated.
