Musk is a twat yeah but a pretty smart fucking twat
That's the worst type of twat to be fair.
Not if you’re actually doing shit, which he is
He's not doing shit though is he? He's just hiring other people to do shit in his name and then working them into the dust.
He's funding shit. He's a big programming nerd but that's not been put to use since the dot-com bubble.
Do you mean he's been funded by the state to pretend to do shit?
Everything you read about Tesla makes you think that the major established car companies are just sitting there learning from its mistakes. It was briefly worth more than General Motors last year (it might still be), but its entire advanced order book for this new economy model would have kept Volkswagen busy for about three weeks. Once these giant companies feel like they have seen enough, and deem electric cars to be their leading products, they will cut its legs out from underneath it.
Of course, mugbull likes Elon Musk.
I like how his GT3 cars (which he plans on having a whole racing series based around) can't handle Spanish weather.
Tesla will probably forever be a luxury car company, but something like SpaceX has no parallels and will probably be the future of space travel. Tbh, what Musk does best is take things that are usually financed and organized by the state - another example is the Hyperloop stuff - and put it in the hands of a far more productive private sector. And he's actually capable of that.

I do if the alternative is reading your posts.
In all honesty, the most financially sensible use of space travel I can think of in the near future is to make the moon a dumping ground for human-produced waste. Could clear up a lot of our problems and as long as we don’t discover any moon bears, doesn’t really leave us with an ethical conundrum either
I once put that to my old scientist housemate (except it was just nuclear waste), and he reckoned it wasn't a goer because we might want to use the place one day. If we did write the moon off though as a waste ground it wouldn't need re-useable rockets, surely? We could just build cheap ones and slam them straight into it.
Also I think another goal is to make space travel a regular thing (not for us specifically, but for the species). There’s not too much crazy shit in terms of colonization that could be accomplished within our lifetimes, but over many generations...you could, if there were enough iterations, but that won’t happen if it remains a one-and-bust thing like the original moon landings were. Reusable rockets are step 1.0.0 of that whole process.
All told, when market forces come into play, the landfill option will probably be our best bet. But i think there’s a lot of opportunity on top of that.
It’s a pretty stupid idea if it never gets off the ground, but it’s a next level idea if it does happen. He’s got enough buy-in at this point for it be a realistic ambition. The very idea of a public infrastructure project of that magnitude being designed (more or less) open-sourced and financed by an independebt guy with his own company is insane, but I think that is fundamentally the direction that a lot of things will go in the future, regardless of whether Hyperloop itself is workable
We will dispatch representations of ourselves, but the time and distances involved pretty much rule out any human space exploration beyond going for a wank on Mars. Where re-useable rockets come into that I don't know. Maybe if they were sent out from some orbiting space base there would be logistical applications. But if we're just blasting them straight off from here then the initial rocket phase seems like a pretty trivial thing, and not worth keeping something like SpaceX around for.
Musk is using Tesla as proof of concept for batteries. The cars, while fun, are nearly irrelevant in the big picture.
Batteries have been around for a long time. The concept has been proven already.
Electric bikes aren't much better, sadly. Batteries weigh quite a bit.
Even Jaguar have built themselves what is by all accounts a pretty good (if expensive) electric car, and they haven't built anything particularly well in about sixty years. Unless Tesla develops the next generation of batteries (that is to say new, rather than simply improved) then they can't stay ahead of the game.
Do you mean that E-Pace thing or whatever it is called? It does look nice.
The main problem with sending nuclear waste to the moon is that rockets blow up a little too often. You'd have a dirty bomb explode and send debris around half of the globe
The I-Pace, yeah. Jaguar mate. They can even make some shit gimmick like that look mega.
EDIT: Good point. Back to dumping it in the Irish Sea it is.
If it explodes in the atmosphere it doesn't matter, it'll be everywhere.
That's not to say we can't nuke Florida anyway...
What the fuck man
Look on the bright side, it wouldn't harm the attendance at Marlins home games.
I can't believe I'm getting roasted about the Marlins on this website. I didn't realize the Marlins were a joke internationally, even.
This is a lot for me to take in.
Hydrogen was the way forward instead of putting all the eggs in the battery basket.
Isn't the problem there that it's almost impossible to store hydrogen without it exploding?
Hydrogen for what? Transportation? The issue is always cost. Separating hydrogen isn't cheap.
It's obviously not currently but that's what technological progress is for. Couldn't be any slower than the progress in batteries.
Good work Giggles. Back to the lab bright and early tomorrow.
lol
Hundo P a PR stunt. They shouldve dropped Teslas in there and claimed the children had been brought back up via capillary action
Lolllll
Now he's out there calling the bloke in the video a paedophile.
But yeah my joke was definitely worth a Twitter ban.
It can't be stressed enough how fucking moronic it would be to put radioactive anything in close proximity to lots of rocket fuel and then fire it through the atmosphere. Let alone contract the work out to some schlub who made a few milk floats and is popular on Twitter.

Musk is being sued by the paedophile.
