Goalkeepers in general. The money they're on they should be saving every shot (except where the shot comes from somebody on more than them, as the expectation there is that they score every shot).
It's all well and good discussing what different men earn but you're forgetting about the gender pay gap. Now that is a travesty.
Yeah, female football players should be massively overpaid too.
Then get their wages capped.
They are every bit as capable so I don't see why not.
After Man Utd signed Lee Grant as a third choice. I went and checked out the original Stuart 'The Third Choice' Taylor. He left Southampton at the end of the season with zero league appearances. His career has gone across three decades. He still made more league appearances in an Arsenal shirt (18) than any other team he ever played for in the league. What a legend.
Elon Musk has had to come out and say they hadn't even managed to get on a plane there yet. It'd be a good metaphor worth mentioning on Twitter if it wasn't a hate crime.
I am going to try this again.
This story is news, but it’s not journalism. It takes up space in people’s local/regional media and generates interest in a cause that is not actionable by a community. The space and subsequent attention could instead be directed stories that call people to action like “council wastes money on x” or “volunteer shortage at shelter”.
This points towards larger issues in journalism and media with newspaper congolomerates, reduced funding for journalism, and the advertising-based information economy.
That's a massive load of tripe.
Why do you think the story is of interest Panda?
What a fuckin hill to die on.
Page 1: POT HOLES CRACK LOCAL ICECREAM VANS WINDOWS
Page 947: 10,000 die in tragic blimp accident.... in France.
Panda, do you have something big in your life going on that nobody's paying attention to? Is that what this is about?
Because you have a bunch of kids trapped in a wild situation where they might die. It hits empathy, novelty and mortality all at once.
I don’t find it surprising that it is being widely reported—I just don’t believe that it’s a valuable story to report.
Now that you know the situation, what impact does it have upon you radiating outward to your community, city, region, country? None. On a going forward basis in terms of justice or policy, what is there to advocate for? Nothing beyond “caves are scary”.
This story is the exact opposite of hearing “thirteen kids in Syria might get shot”. That one wouldn’t be interesting as we expect it in a no-longer-novel war zone, but there’s plenty of room for advocacy.
Is there actually less money for journalism, or does it just go to wankers writing their opinions? Where did I read some esteemed journalism professor (lol) complaining that all of their students just want to write about themselves now rather than secretly film corrupt England managers? I don't care. I can't. Not when these poor kids are trapped, and footballers are sucking the country dry.
No, but I'm doubling down on a poorly written first post to the thread.
Media!! :Panda:
10,000 die in tragic blimp accident qualifies as worthwhile due to its scale and the fact that people actually died.
"Twelve Thai kids may or may not die, we'll let you know later" is a news item, but it shouldn't be dominating the headlines.
gotta die somewhere m i rite
Overall this story wouldn't have been covered the way it has if they weren't in a spooky cave.
What happened to all the hullabaloo about them not bring able to dive or whatever? They seem to be managing it okay now.
The water level has been lowered enough for them to walk the majority of the journey.
And there are far less newsworthy things that get reported on than this.
I don't think it's a big story because people are particularly empathising with them. There's just loads of facets of it that you can talk about without having to think very much, and that's really what most people want. It's a real life cliffhanger.
This is the first time I've been exposed to Elon Musk's fanboys. They are very reminiscent of Scot Nats and deeply, deeply weird.
The males in my office are crazy about Elon Musk. Im not fully up to speed on all his work. What im more concerned about is why he hasn't become Batman or Ironman yet.
He's busy telling you about what he can do, on Twitter.
And getting those who badmouth him (Phonics) banned.
So many great things happening in my neighborhood that I don't have time to care about this.
Is the coach arrested yet?
He saved them ffs.
What a fucking twat. You weren't there or involved. Shut the fuck up.
Too scared to post that on Twitter?
This is the first time I’ve heard of Elon Musk.
I'm a twit
I don’t know who he is or what he does so I’m a bit stuck here.
I do like his Phonics annoying policy, but he does seem like a bit self important. Difficult.
He makes electric cars and flamethrowers and was on the Big Bang Theory once. That's about the height of my knowledge.
I'm still not sure what the point of sending his car into space was.
Sends rockets up and then lands them again, so they can re-use them. To show us his smarts.
But NASA did that for years. Did nobody tell him?
Them rockets are pretty great, but people seem to be under the impression that he designs them, rather than just shuffling debt around and being a good salesman.
Is the plan to keep trying that punchline until you get a out of someone? Because it was literally 6 posts ago.
I'm taking the whole 'if you don't succeed...' mantra absolutely literally.
I'm going to try the same thing over and over again.
Elon musk's wife though 😍😍
