Can we all agree Hazard is the best player in the Premier League now? K, thx, bye x
Why don't you write to him asking him out?
Because he's done well holding up the ball in one match in an international tournament?
Jokes aside I fuckin love watching those 3 on the counter (KDB, Hazard, Lukaku).
Reminds me of the good ol' days with Rooney Tevez & Ronaldo.
I think everyone's trying to convince themselves it wasn't a penalty, but to be honest in most cases it would be called. I don't think that type of thing should be a penalty, but just like I don't think that back of the head Colombian move on Maguire should be a red card, it is in the rulebook and there isn't much you can argue with about there.
If the ball was still in play then it's a penalty yeah. I do agree that it shouldn't be, but it is what it is rule-wise.
He was completely cleaned out, of course it should have been.
There are some things (like violent conduct) which can happen at any time, but if the ball has gone out then trips and so on are not in the game.
Did Gabriel Jesus do anything positive in the entire World Cup? Nearly won a penalty?
Top work 'Cheech'.
Sticking with mongos like Paulinho too. They always have to have their favourites. Sad for some, not for Neymar.
I felt that Paulinho actually had a good tournament.
Going into full tournament mode
All out defence.
If he does that, fucking hell.
I'd be happier with him starting a game than coming on to suck the life out of us.
What's happened to Loftus Cheek?
And why the fuck is Fabien Delph in this team.
Is it weird that Brazil have been knocked out at the quarter final and doesn't feel like a big story?
We had about 15 think pieces within 20 minutes of other big teams being knocked out. Is it because no-one can identify a proper narrative outside of Good Team loses to Other Good Team?
Its because they've done absolutely fuck all of note since 2002, and haven't won a thing worth shit since 2007 if you include the Copa. Sure they got to the semi finals in 2014 but that led to one of the greatest moments in football history.
They finished below Peru and Ecuador in the 2016 Copa. They're really not all that anymore.
Yeah, all the 'Hip Priest Cheech' think pieces have had to go on the bonfire. Completely out-trucked by Bobby Martinez. The only saving grace was that it didn't go full Germany when that looked a distinct possibility. Getting donned by Fellaini though, there's always some joker with big hair shitting on their parade.
I know we (England) have been guilty of ineptitude in management and selection since time immemorial, but, now that we seem to be doing things a bit more semi-sensibly it is interesting to note quite how many other countries also have compete numpties in charge. I guess it's always been that way and I've just been too obsessed with metatarsals to really notice.
The Brazilian talent pool's not what it used to be. They used to have a squad so good Jardel couldn't even get considered with 45 goals a season at Sporting. Now, the last striker you can think of is Pato or Fred.
Would have been a much better way for them to set up generally. Having two-holding midfielders frees up their creative players (and stops them having the worst defensive left flank ever/being too open) - which is pretty much what they did in 2002 isn't it? With Silva and, I assumed Emerson, but it was actually Kleberson, lordy. Firmino would have provided an attacking focal point even if he's not the best in term of pure ability. Ok, they were without Casimeiro last night, which would have been a problem, but I'm sure they could have founf someone to at least have a stab at his role. I suppose, the real problem is if you set-up to have an all-dominating play-maker, you have to sacrifice the rest of the team to that end or you end up with a too many cooks situation.Code:Firmino Neymar Coutinho Willian/Costa Casimeiro Fernandinho Marcelo Miranda Silva/Marcelinho Danilo/Fagner Becker
Cheech stuck with what was good for pumping bilge, and looked dodgy against anyone half-decent, and even fairly poor against well-organised bilge.
I'm not sure I agree with any of this. Brazil have been the best side in the tournament and should have gone through last night.
Have you told FIFA yet?
They keep ignoring my letters telling them to use expected goals as a tiebreaker so I've given up.
I can already hear cries of "it's coming home" outside.
You would think its the world cup final today that England are taking part in.
I think there's a link to the same mental state that Diana-fication caused with all this.
Semi and it's on, until then the only thing guaranteed to be coming home is the team.
Was it Sweden that dyed their hair blonde to highlight their inferiority complex the last time we played them in a proper match?
I'd forgotten about that, but yes, I think you're right.
Here we go boys, 3-1 win.
Then its fucking coming home 100%

It was Romania. Carry on.
If England win the World Cup (its on a Sunday) we’re gonna need an emergency bank holiday.

It's the biggest game in about 20 years, I think some excitement is understandable.
I fully expect Kane to absolutely destroy us. 3-0 England.
Here's our starting 11:

Back in the early 2000s a young Swedish midfielder set the world on fire in Arsenal, with his fashionable haircut and his clinical finishing. This was not him.
Seb has spent his career trying to keep Alex McLeish, Sam Allardyce, David Moyes and Martin O’Neill in the Premiership. Our apologies.
It's interesting to listen to/read some of the stuff people are coming out with about Southgate (despite the fact the tournament isn't even over) not because it's terribly insightful but because it's amazing what you seem to be able to achieve simply by dressing smartly, being polite, and not being a colossal supporating arsehole.
Our local council has put a load of England flags up on lampposts over night. It’s not coming home, lads.
Greek commentator just said "Berg's having a great tournament so far, missing a lot of chances, only thing he's missing is a goal". That's some deep understanding of the sport right there.
Spent about 20 mins in Tesco and didnt see a single England shirt.
(Bought grass seeds, a little pink foam football, some cards, some root beer and batteries.)

It's going to be terrifying.
