If Martinez starts Carrasco at wing back and no Dembele against Brazil, he can jump in the sea.

Is it the Japanese who participate in Seppuku or is that the Chinese?

    Edit: or Koreans
    Edit: or Cambodians

Japan has 3v1 at the back for the corner. Belgium players were just quicker at getting forward.

Neymar offends everyone because he's yet another player who isn't Lionel Messi.

I always found Brazil annoying with their stupid instruments on the bus shit. THE SAMBA BOYS ARE IN TOWN, when they haven't provided any excitement since 1982.

One of the commentators earlier said something about Brazil being solid defensively which isn't something you expect from a Brazil team and I swear I've heard that said at pretty much every world cup that I can remember.

It's such lazy shite. They haven't fulfilled that stereotype since 1982.

It's Japan, they're awful. Which was why I was so animated about us forgoing the chance to play them.

It's also worth noting that resting those players did absolutely nothing for Belgium.

They had come up with a surprisingly effective gameplan up to that point. Also, England don't have Fellaini, so who knows how that one might have played out.

EDIT: By up to that point, I actually meant until the 1-2. But they did regain some surprising composure after the equalizer.

There's been a very surprising lack of trouble. Every other tournament I can remember has had some level of fan violence but there's been almost nothing at this one. That gay fan getting a pasting is the only thing that comes to mind, and as horrible as that is one incident is decent going.

It's looked to me like pretty much every fan at the grounds has been a sort of high income day tripping sort, and there clearly aren't big contingents from the traditional troublemaking countries either.

i've watched a few "stories" about the russian ultras and how they're all basically dying for the WC to be over so the police back off of them or something. I guess they've been cracking down pretty hard before the tournament on folks.

Highest ticket sale outside of Russia was to the yanks. Dan Walker said 900k tickets were to Russians. Lots of south Americans and North africans made the trip, barely any Europeans.

I've seen almost all of the really great games, but finally missed one. It looks like it would've been spectacular live.

Japan are so damn likeable as well. They run forever.

They surprised me actually, had a few decent players there other than the obvious ones.

Essentially though they just didn't have the nous to hold on to the win or take it into extra time. They'd have beaten a few of the other teams in the last 16.

As for resting players, how can you be so sure? They where full of energy in the last minute of a game played in 30 degree heat. Who knows if KdB would have been able to travel with the ball that far or if Lukaku would have had the legs to get up there and then the thought process to pull the defenders away.

I liked the Japanese Octopus, who 'predicted' the whole group stage correctly, getting eaten before the knockouts started.

It's literally exactly how Putin has planned it. I bet he instigated the super hooligan shite just so he could make the West look foolish when nothing happened and everyone says it's brilliant.

Yeah everyone knows the gangs were told to shut up shop for a few weeks. Same reason why the police weren't kicking everyones heads in when the Russian fans were brining Moscow to a standstill till 6am the other night.

Some of these clairvoyant farm animals are a fix I reckon. They probably put sweeter-smelling swill in the England trough to ensure a home snout.

Your little digs get more pathetic by the day, Phonics.

It's surprising that there's been almost literally no trouble. There's always something to report at major tournaments, so this one being incident free is surprising.

If you can hand them out, you can take them, you're a big boy.

They're in a police state where the government is both funding and supporting the sort of groups that create the trouble you're talking about. Where's the surprise?

This is a country where very important people seem to routinely fall off their balconies and you're surprised there's been no police reports of trouble?
