I'm not buying it brand new but it's 100% getting bought at some point . Did you like / play Primal?
I was hoping my copy would come today but they've obviously held it.
I never really got into Primal so I'm hoping this is good.
I bought this on Friday in a shop, installed it only to find out it's not out till today. I've been fuming.
I think you're going a bit OTT. The shop did something illegal, I just didn't know.
With FM last year I bought the physical version because we didn't have the internet set up in the new house yet, turned out the disc was just an alternate way of authorising the download through Steam anyway so I had to rinse my mobile data through tethering which I could have done to begin with. Right load of shit.
I loved Far Cry 3 but went off 4 pretty quickly. The setting here seems more my thing so if the first impressions from people today seem alright I might grab this later on.
4 was only good for the co-op tbh.
I never bothered to finish the game after me and Ian had run through all the bits to co-op.
He's still a dick for jumping out of a Gyrocopter he was flying without telling me though.
This whole thing can be played Co-op.
Gold star for Webly.
This is my icon collectathon of choice so I'm going to get it at some point, partially in the hope that they've found Clint Hocking in a cupboard somewhere and it'll be good again. Not that they've been bad, 4 had the good grace to remove all possible character from the main story and just let you blow stuff up in whatever way you like.
Almost killed myself by standing too close to a shrine I had to blow up and then I did kill myself by deciding to fly a seaplane I found right into an explosive shrine.
Fun times.
Is this worth it or the same mince as the previous 2 repackaged?
Fuck it, downloading now.
It was the massive statue that swayed me.
Just about to start and I think I'll go balls deep on the hardest setting to start.
Fiar play Yev, I love that you know exactly what you want from a game.
Imagine you're a PR person whos paycheck is based on sales reading this sentence when it comes to doing your analysis
"Well we were looking dicey for a bit there but then we convinced them to put a big fucking statue in the trailer and that pushed us over 3,000,000 units."
Couldn't find it in the one shop I tried so I've ordered it. Impressions aren't unanimously positive but the people who are enjoying it seem to really be enjoying it, which is good enough for me.
Only had an hour last night on it and not got off the first island yet so very early days. But first impressions are that it's very 'far cry'. I didn't play primal in the end as I needed a break after 3 and 4 which were so similar. This is the same again, just prettier and a (So far at least) more interesting setting.
Mechanically very sound but thematically vapid is what I'm hearing which would be consistent with the previous two games.
I've barely got through the intro, but what I would say is the main villian is light years more threatening than the two pantomime types from the last two.
I really liked Vaas as a concept, but they did their best to ruin him as the game went on. Fun fact, he was played by Nacho from Better Call Saul.
They tend to come up with interesting ideas and characters then flesh them out to about 20% of the way and call it good.
Looks stunning, plays well. I avoided 4 and Primal so after a few years away it feels fresh to me. The lead pisses all over that Vaas cunt. Movement feels great.
It's very similar to the previous couple of games. An enjoyable blast though.
Just rescued the dog and kitted out my pistol with a suppressor. Use that and the bow normally for range (until I unlock a sniper rifle) and a baseball bat for close up stuff.
I've managed to get to the main island (the one that Joseph rules over) whilst still technically locked.
I was roaming on a bit close to it and saw that bottom waypoint with my binoculars which allowed me to fast travel to it.
Managed to kill someone on the island and they dropped a beastly sniper with scope.

I played the opening. I need to put on subtitles, I could barely understand a word that leader guy said. Why is there a character creator in an FPS?
Just unlocked a bear, destroyed the massive statue and unlocked a third weapon slot.
Currently rocking a sniper with the best scope and a silencer, a .44 magnum (or similar) and a bow.
Also, I bought the Gold edition but like quite a few the sniper that I was meant to have ON DAY ONE is not there. I think I've gotten everything else but not that. Apparently it's affecting quite a few which is shit.
Do you have to destroy the statue to progress? I'd rather not.
I knew that was coming
I think you do sadly, sorry Yev.
I'll be getting in about the bow when I get this. The satisfaction once you learn to adjust for the drop.
I became quite a beast at it on 3 / 4.
I'm not quite so sure about that. Mediocre perhaps is more apt.
When it comes to being a beast with a weapon it's clearly me with a grenade launcher from the back of a gyrocopter.
Thing of beauty
For those who hated it, there's no skinning animals (you can kill em if ya want), no towers. The world feels more like FC2 as in there's constant ultra aggressive patrols which you can challenge if you want, or you can map your way around and avoid the conflict.
The fishing mini-game is addictive as fuck, the gunplay feels meatier. Movement is a joy, especially the grappling hook and parachute. I'm enjoying it so far, but then I avoided 4 and Primal so it feels nice and fresh.
Overall though, I fucking love the world and the setting.
I did do something stupid today though.
I managed to unlock a bomber plane, when I got in I instantly decided to see how the bombs worked. I was still stationery in the hangar and obviously blew myself to little pieces.
@Raoul Duke If shooting at cars while they approach doesn't allow this then I'm not interested:
Let's not play this game.
go shove a 1080ti up your arse and asphyxiwank, phonics
I can do 1440 at 30fps sshh
1060. I'm not made of money. Have you seen what Bitcoins done to the market? You can buy a whole PC for the same price as a 1080. You could buy an Alienware Laptop for a Titan.
I was gonna get the 1060 6gb laptop but it was £300 more fuck that noise. Got the 3gb laptop version, does 1080p maxed (or near maxed) on everything so I'm still erect.
It's quite good so far and the statue is a thing of beauty, which I'll be doing all I can to avoid blowing up.
Agree with DS that it feels more Far Cry 2 than 3 or 4, which is a great thing.
The levelling system is still absolute bobbins though. I don't know why they bother.
I unlocked the wingsuit first thing but haven't found anything tall enough to wingsuit off. Hopefully there's a bit more verticality to the game than I've run in to. You had big fuck off mountains in 4 so it made sense.
And why can I buy a helicopter for $2,680, but an outfit costs $9,000?
