Been watching Brooklyn Nine Nine recently and I'm absolutely loving it. It's got a real (american) Office vibe.

I had been put off it before as I was under the impression there was no real character development or story but there seems to be at least a bit. Yeah, it's essentially the office in police setting (without the interviews and camerawork maybe).

I think I'm about five episodes in so far and I would largely agree. It's been alright but there's definitely a giant, Kilgrave shaped hole that's proving difficult to fill. I'm pretty sure I've guessed who the person they're setting up as the villain is going to be too. It seems really obvious to me at the moment. I would speculate further, but I can't really without the spoiler tags.

One thing I will say though, is it just me or does her best mate (Trish?) nearly always come across as a really needy, pushy, self-entitled tosser? I really don't like her.

Oh man episode two of season two of This Country is absolutely hilarious. The first season was proper slow going with the occasional lol, until the last episode which was really good. The first episode of season two was okay but oh boy that second episode was a cracker. The bit with the wheelbarrow should go down if potential gif folklore.

I go through staged with Trish. In the first season it was more good than bad, in the second it's largely bad.

I had also guessed the villain set up too.

I've just started the handmaid's tale. Very leftovers in the sense it's very unsettling and positively mental.

I don't remember her bothering me at all in the first season, but it's like her default setting in season two is just to be a massive twat.

One Million Credits was one of my favourites, largely for an astonishing piece of acting from Daniel Kaluuya but the premise and progression are both up to par too.

Really what you should do is miss the pilot, which is entirely unrepresentative of what's to come, watch the rest, then loop back once you've got a taste for it. The pilot is good, but it's operating on a different frequency from everything else.

Cheers. I saw the first series when it was originally aired, but all I can remember is the PM and a pig. I'll do a few from the above (but will no doubt watch them all).

    Nah.

It's not rollicking fun like others, but it's one of the best episodes for exploring social impacts in technology.

White Christmas is probably the best although they're all very good for the most part. The standout weakest ones for me are The Waldo Moment and Metalhead.

I like The Entire History of You and White Christmas the best, I think.

From the most recent season, "Hang the DJ" was my favourite.

The latest episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine is the funniest they've done in ages. I would watch a twenty two episode season that was nothing but Holt and Kevin being overly formal with each other.

I kinda both wanna finish all that as soon as possible but also don't wanna run out of episodes to watch.

It's one of the best shows ever. The last season or two is a bit off the rails but it's a great dystopian world with loads of badassery. Where you up to?

He's very good in it right up until the last episode, he carries it on its back. The cop lady seems like a shitty cliched character at first but really grows into the role.

The last bit of the intro set it up so well for what they were going to do.

Has anyone else watched the adaptation of American Gods?

I watched the entire first series at the weekend and liked it but I can't decide if it's actually good or I just enjoyed a new version of something I already like.

I watched the first episode of that and couldn't get along with it at all. Nick Sobotka as the leprechaun bloke is among the stranger bits of casting I've ever seen.

There are some annoying bits to it (Nick Sobotka as John mentioned is one, as is the fact that Laura Browning's character is such a cunt). It did help having Ian McShane as the main old god though.

I would have liked it to have moved a bit faster (they managed to make an entire season of television out of, what, the first hour or so of the book?) but, on the whole, I think they built on the source material well and it was pretty good.

I agree he didn't really fit the bill, but I thought he did a decent job. He was actually thrown into last minute I believe, the first choice (I can't remember who it was off the top of my head) dropped out right at the last minute I seem to remember.

Fucking hell, watched the whole season of American Gods and failed to realise Pablo Schreiber was playing Sweeney. Given how many times I've gone over S2 of The Wire that's a bit special.

I really enjoyed it, but agree with Niko they dragged the fuck out of what is essentially just the initial scene setter in the book. Still, it was well realised and more accurately so than Amazon did with Preacher (which was nonetheless fucking brilliant).

    Fair comment.

On an unrelated note I've started watching Person of Interest, on the back of the Boydy and Phonics conversation of a couple of days ago. I've only watched the first episode so far but it seemed alright. Interesting premise. Although the awful, and presumably fake, beard Jim Caviezel is sporting at the beginning of the pilot episode made me think of Ron Burgundy in Anchorman after he gets sacked from the news channel.

Twelve, I think. It's the most recent one but the couple before it have been unusually plot driven so only skip right there if you don't mind getting the end of the story before the beginning.

Started on Wild Wild Country today and after 2 and a half episodes I'm hooked. I knew nothing about the story of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh/The Rajneesh movement but it's completely mad and fascinating.

It's a really good documentary series.

I giggled like a loon at the closing joke.

I think Kevin's only been in like six episodes, so it's testament to how well drawn he is that that joke seems so absolutely perfect. Marc Evan Jackson is probably the most underused comedic actor around. I've only really seen him in Mike Schur shows but he gets a laugh out of pretty much every line he says.
