I'm not a narcissist. It's not all about me.
I'm not a narcissist. It's not all about me.
New Forest is lovely though. Anyone been? I have.
It'd be my least favourite looking of the lot, but then again I'd love to do a week in Dingle so it's probably best now to let her and the travel agent decide. I've shown my 'interest' by helping with the shortlist.
That said the Italian spot looks very nice, though it looks more like something we normally do rather than the resort thing. Plus there doesn't look like a place would have any fast food chains which would be a must for me in Italy.
Have you tried Southampton?
Are we about to find out who the first person on Earth not to like pizza is?
It's a lovely place. You should try Kinsale too, it's even nicer. Definitely better for staying in anyway, we did the west coast last year and finished up there for a few days.
As for Italian food, I just don't like it. It's all wishy washy oily tomato and nothing has any punch in it. Pizza is ok but always a bit meh for me compared to other takeaways, but I'd still rather one with a proper American base instead of that weird dry bread they use in Italy.
You've not been eating good Italian food if that's what you think it is.
Probably thinks Tony Macaroni is the epitome of fine Italian dining.
Italian is way down my list of favourite cuisines which seems a bit odd considering I got married in Sorrento. In saying that, the food was incredible when I was there and I do appreciate a good pizza or pasta but wouldn't go out of my way to eat it over anything I like more.
So I've booked everything, off on Thursday staying at some 3 star just outside of Kreuzberg. I was originally staying in the most hipster hostel back in the center of Mitte but they over-booked![]()
Did you try and get Union tickets?
The shit Italians you get over here are shit, but the stuff in Italy is probably the world's best food I think, or up there from what I've experienced.
Good produce, good olive oil, maybe some good cheese. Combine those and you really can't go wrong.
I went for the Revolut card after you mentioned it @Giggles. Seemed too good a deal to pass up as I'm away to Marbella on Saturday.
Card arrived today, just checked and Ł800 gets you 937 euros in app compared to 904 at M&S.
Great deal and the app is brilliant too. Cheers for the heads up.
Yeah it's brilliant for the likes of that and it has one of the best designed apps I've used. Because of the notifications I ordered a new ATM card and just use the Revolut for Amazon, etc now so my bank card has never been used online. I still need to order a contactless Revolut one though, as they didn't have them back when I signed up, yours should be.
Had to pay the Ł12 to get it this quick but well worth it.
Another one coming next week for July holiday.
The Ł200 limit for withdrawals seems a bit on the low side. Will just change Ł200 into Euros first and then see how many places accept card.
Anyone been to Zadar?
I'm not sure on that as I always just top up what I need a minute or so before I use it.
You'd basically be buying an option contract if you want to do that. Or a forward.
I have forever advocated just getting the Halifax travel card which allows free withdrawal and best rate on the market anyway.
Yes. Deserved recognition.
Not into sure if it's the area round my hotel but every second place here is a kebab shop. 3.50 for a fucking Kebab though
Couldn't be sears doing anything today so going to try do something cultural tomorrow.
My cultural tour began and ended with the German Spy Museum which was fucking badass. In their internet section they had a giant screen where you could replace any word on a website so there's currently a giant screen of TTH in the Museum with the word 'Magic' replaced with 'Cunt'
I also accidentally walked into Checkpoint Charlie (traveling without internet is so much better) which was interesting for about 5 minutes.
Tonight I'm off to the Union Berlin match and then there seems to be a cool rooftop bar nearby which I'll try hit up.
Tomorrow, I'm going to kickstart my morning by watching Fast & Furious 8 in IMAX followed by heading into Kreuzberg and maybe going to Berghain though going to a massive techno rave on my own with no drugs sounds a bit shit so I might abandon that plan.
Is Berghain that mental place with a tattooed David Brent on the door?
If you pay the Brandenburg Gate a visit spend a while walking around the area near it with all the embassies, there's some fun to be had with the contrast. The Russian embassy is a ridiculous building, with the hammer and sickle chiselled into the side of the building, a huge fence with painted gold eagles on it, and a load of Cyrillic text presumably paying tribute to Stalin all over the place. Then the Romanian embassy about a hundred yards away is basically someone's house with 'ROMANIAN EMBASSY' above the door. They don't even have a flag.
You might not get into Berghain phonics. Certainly not on your own. Door policy is insane.
There's a really great free Walking Tour done by Sandemans I think that leaves from Brandenburg gate. 3 hours but you won't really need to do anything else major and packs in things like Hitlers bunker etc that are off the beaten track.
Ps. This German food is giving me THE WORST farts. It's like living in a toilet.
You won't be without drugs for more than five minutes if you get into Berghain, they are more or less shoved down your throat.
Be prepared to queue for half an hour only for big Sven or his lackey to tell you to fuck off though. It is worth it if you do get in I reckon, and you stand a better chance if you're on your own/speak german/dressed all in black.
Failing that, go to Tresor, Globus or Ohm. They're all in the same massive warehouse and varying levels of drug den, but all piss on any other club I've been to outside of Germany.
Best off just acting completely emotionless and bored in the queue, and under no circumstances make eye contact.
Are they in the same area. As I mention I'm without internet so I basically have to leave my hotel hoping I find my way.
You could walk from one place to the other.
Tresor is right by Heinrich-Heine u-bahn. You could probably ask for directions to Berghain but you'd struggle to find it without a map I think.
Union Berlin was the definition of MASSIVE. Any English fans thinking that safe standing is the clearance of the road block to good atmospheres have another thing coming though. Entire atmosphere comes from a block of fans in one end and then the occasional person in the three others chips in.
#Zweibundesligamate
It is a great league though. Never been to a game but the crowds always look brilliant on streams.
Just out of travel agents there. Down to Zakynthos, Sorrento, and some place 10km from Dubrovnik. Still not sure though, the Greek one is a fair whack cheaper than Italy but there seems to be less to see in it. I'd be afraid it would be too full of 'innits' too, though Croatia could be similar.
EDIT: Cavtat.
