Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Can pick this up off Ebay for 5 quid usually is it worth a crack considering I've never played any MGS game before?

It is the most Metal Gear you can have.

Installed and restarted this tonight on PC. Man the opening is full on! Also realised it’s the only MGS game I didn’t reply, having played all the others several times.

I feel like 5 is the one where the gameplay is at its best, but the story perhaps at its worst.

I know Kojimas' whole thing is jumping every shark at once and it's batshit but it ends up working well. I'm not sure some of the stuff in 5 hits home as well as the rest of the series.

It's also 40 hours long whereas the others have a much quicker pace to them.
