I think the distance thing is borked too - I just hatched two eggs & replaced them at the same time, then walked at least 1km, possibly closer to 2, and checked their progress. 300m on one, 500m on the otherAlso lame that it can't track me at work as I'm walking my whole shift so I'd probably be able to hatch multiple 10km eggs a day.
Oh yeah, and it's down now for me. On the bright side, I hatched a Rhyhorn yesterday

Game would be much better if they could track distance with the app closed, and maybe push notifications for nearby pokemon. Saw a suggestion as well saying that you should be able to raise your starter pokemon with just stardust. I haven't seen another Bulbasaur since I've started playing so it's just been sat there as a useless 10 CP mon.

Spent about three hours out catching stuff today. Creeping towards level 10 & just hatched a Tangela.
I'd really enjoy this game a lot more if it was actually stable. When it works it's actually pretty solid, even if there aren't many pokemon & battling looks shitty.

Hatched a 411 Doduo today and caught a 396 Slowpoke.
Pokestops were being kind to me as well so I've got 8 eggs on the go.
Up to 74km tonight. I've covered just under half of what Mahow covered in 15 days, in a day. I'll be signing up for the London Marathon next.
Kabuto and Nidoran M join the gang today and I had Hitmonlee appear on the radar, but after searching for him up and down all the streets, I had to concede defeat.
I was out from 5pm to 9pm tonight and walked 6 miles.
Leveled up my Psyduck, caught my first Bulbasaur and got about 20 Magikarp.
Caught my first Psyduck and he seems like a beast with a CP of 432. Had a Charmander make an appearance on the radar, but again despite me trawling every single street around the area, i just couldn't find it. They need to hurry up and fix the footprints glitch.
Sounds like they just turned it off to ease the servers. I imagine the function will reappear once they're happy everything is stable.

Another frustrating day so far.
Headed up to the lake and bagged myself a Wartortle
Just now was able to get in and set about transferring pokemon in preperation for my mass evolution spree. The servers held firm as I transferred away what was needed so I set out to walk the 1.8km needed to hatch my eggs with the plan to use the lucky egg at the last moment and then start evolving like crazy. I got them down to 0.5km left when the game crashed, and though I got straight back in it crashed again and now I can't get on. I guess it's lucky I didn't use the egg, but fucking hell, timing that is going to be a bitch.
The plus side was during that walk I caught a 552 CP Pidgeot, my highest mon by a clear 150 points.
The Lucky Egg was finally used up. I evolved roughly....

1 Oddish
5 Rattata
No idea how many Pidgey as I had to transfer a bunch to evolve the last one. I'd guess around 8

I also hatched both eggs and hit 1 Pokestop. I couldn't find anything to catch.
The end result was I went from level 10 (but virtually 11) to Level 13 and close to 14, so I gained just shy of 3 whole levels. Not bad.
Top 6 Mons now are Hypno (581, the Drowzee I evolved), Magmar (575, hatched from my 10km egg), Pidgeot (551, caught today), Vileplume (402, caught a few days back), Pidgeot (383, evolved ages ago) and Gloom (340, evolved today).
Got a squirtle, abra and magikarp from eggs today.

Nicely done Browning. Now you have to start hoarding Pidgey candies again. Also if you can, wait for level 15 to get another incubator and lucky egg, so you can add mass hatching to your mass evolving.

I never seem to see any near where I live. Certainly not in my house. Do they only spawn at Pokestops? I've only ever seen then whilst mooching about in the street.
This beauty showed up on Pokevision about 7 minutes from where I live, with 10 minutes on the clock to go. I ran like hell and almost shouted "yes!" when I got there and it was ???.
My best by about 500 cp now. Shit moveset I guess, but who cares.

Reached level 17 and finally got my hands on a Charmander. Have also reached 86 Magikarp candies. Another 314 to go. How is everyone else doing with their Magikarps, my best is 112.

It's been much more stable lately, so my enjoyment has definitely increased. I caught a Weezing on the way home from work, which, at 690CP, is my strongest pokemon by 400. Just hit lv12, and still have to do a lucky egg mass evolution. Can't wait to evolve all these shitty pokemon then immediately transfer 95% of them.
Think I only have about four Magikarp, so hopefully I'll just find a Gyarados spawn, since I think that's pretty much my best chance of ever getting one.
Put a lure down at the lake and it gave me 2 x Drowzee, 1 x Magikarp, 2 x Krabby, probably some other shit I've forgotten.. And then new mons in Squirtle, Poliwag and Jynx. Also found a second Jynx walking home. About 20 people rocked up to where I put it and seemed to be trying to hide that they were playing but then they all marked out when Squirtle appeared. You're welcome.
Just had a Porygon spawn round the corner from me - left my dinner in the oven & dashed out to get it. Got a couple of Weedle on the way home too.
Got some nice ones at Washington Zoo yesterday.
Ghastly, Bulbasaur, Clefairy were all new for me. Oh, and a Dragonite popped up just as I was leaving

I don't know how many Razz Beerys and Great Balls I chucked at it and it broke free. Genuinely thought it was going to just escape but finally got it.
How can you tell things like that? Surely you just get 3 footprints...
I'm sure Great Balls are shitter than Poke Balls. I was throwing Poke Balls at something earlier (maybe Squirtle?) and it kept breaking out so I switched to Great Balls and they just flew all over the screen.... changed back to Poke Balls and caught it in one.

I've been finding that as well lately - throws swinging all over the place like there's a massive cross-wind. Think it's usually after a Razz Berry, so we'll blame them. Almost run out of pokeballs now thanks to all the wasted attempts.

The Pokevision thing feels like cheating. I won't be using it, kind of kills the fun to know the exact spot of everything. That said I'm not sure how accurate it is as it only has about 3 mons near where I live and I usually find a lot more than that.
Because those Pokemon are specific to your account/device.
Also wont show any Pokemon that spawn due to lures/incense too.
Rumor is that they're going to spawn a legendary bird at the Niantic San Diego ComicCon panel, which is about to start.

This hatches eggs apparently, at least that's what a video I saw told me.
Doesn't seem to be registering steps all that well.
Steps are purely GPS based.
But I've seen so many say that putting it on a record player or a fan works
I need some hatching cheat for when I'm at home.

I know walking can help with depression but, when you saddle it with an addiction, you're a bit knackered. You'lll be treadmilling your way to 150 and then you'll feel so empty inside.
I made a spreadsheet to plan my lucky egg use
Got two eggs about to hatch, plus I can evolve 4 Caterpie, 14 Weedle, 18 Pidgey, 11 Rattatta, 1 Eevee, 1 Zubat, 1 Metapod, 1 Kakuna & 1 Pidgeotto, all of which should net me about 60,000 experience. If I can catch one more Gastly I can evolve one of those as well, which should add another couple of grand. Same applies if I can catch a few more Spearow, but I think I'll probably just end up saving both of those for the next round, along with Drowzee, which I still don't have enough candies to evolve.
I'm just about to reach lv13 anyway, so I should end up on the brink of lv17 if all goes to plan.
EDIT: A Gastly spawned just outside my house, so I will now be getting a Haunter tomorrow as well
There's a rumor that if you do the following you will keep every catch if the game freezes:
Close the app completely. Turn on Airplane mode. Open the app. You'll get an error saying no internet. Turn off Airplane mode. Go back to the app.
No idea if it's legit but I'll try it.
