Yeah, I was going off a BBC article I now can't find which I read the other day, with the main takeaway away being they might inadvertently end up with a communist parliament, which seemed quite a funny prospect.

Why don't they just have AV in France though, which is what their system seems to amount to?

In unexpected news, one of my black mates has started spamming his Facebook and Instagram with Reform UK propaganda.

His local Reform candidate was this guy:

In a post in June 2020 he commented on the arrival of a small boat in Dover, saying: 'I hope I'm near one of these scumbags one day. I won't run away, I'll slaughter them then have their family taken out.'
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-hopefuls.html

Very, very sadly, he has been dropped by Reform today *womp womp* and my mate is furious.

I have no idea how the son of immigrants from Zimbabwe has got here, but it's quite something to witness.

Home Secretary James Cleverly has warned voters Sir Keir Starmer could change the political system to secure a “permanent Labour government” if he secures a “massive majority” on 4 July.

The only way of doing that is to ban all the other parties.

The Election night coverage is going to be absolutely prime entertainment. The interviews with hundreds of Tory MPs having lost their seats and being basically free to say what they like.

Ed Davey hula-hooping over the weekend, bungee jumping today, it is indeed a novel electoral strategy, and anyone voting for them should be taken out back and shot.

Good afternoon, can we rely on your support on Thursday?
No chance mate. Marie Rimmer’s awful.
Okay thank you very much, have a good night.

I presume he gets enough ‘omg yes of course labour is life’ that the few who say no make literally zero difference to the 100% chance of her being voted back in.

I should have mentioned I’ve stuck her in net in my fantasy team, perhaps.

There were 4 Reform people (including AN ETHNIC to show they're not racist) at the train station today handing out leaflets.

The amount of people ignoring and or telling them to do one was lovely.

I gave them a "not a chance" when asked if I'd vote for them.

I still have absolutely no idea who I'm voting for tomorrow. Completely underwhelmed by every single party.

Might email Ed Davey and tell him I'll vote for them if throws a thousand milkshakes at Nigel Farage while riding a donkey or something.

The only meaningul tactical voting this time around would be among Tories and Reform supporters. Good of the 'progressive' wing of things to continue sniffing their own farts on the verge of power.

The Tories outright admitting they are going to lose to one of the biggest majorities in history and begging for votes on the basis someone needs to be there to stop Labour doing whatever they want is fucking pathetic

My constituency has been Tory in every election except two dating back to 1931. They're currently 34 points down to the Labour candidate. Impressive stuff.

    Team spreadsheet prediction is in:

    Lab 439
    Con 93
    LD 69
    SNP 20
    PC 3
    Ref 2
    Green 1

LD feels high but that's just the vibes that have been detected, unfortunately.

One thing's for sure, although these Tories are awful and need to go, I would lol extremely hard if the exit poll comes up with something like Labour majority 48. Everyone will have shat the bed and the Tories would be leaping for joy despite getting a beating.

The value bet of the election I would say is Reform to win zero seats, which you can get at 10/1 currently.

They'll likely win one but it wouldn't take much at all for them not to. As always with Farage a lot of the momentum behind him is hot air.

I think they'll pull a similar share of the vote to the Lib Dems. It's just that the Lib Dems will win seats off the back of it because their voters are concentrated in wanky middle class villages and small towns, whereas Reform voters are all over the place.

I find it hard to care in this instance, but it feels massively undemocratic. That said, I'm not sure PR would particularly fix it. You just end up with waring factions disagreeing on everything and the outcome is a centrist mess much like the one we're about to kick out (and probably the one we're about to vote in).

First past the post may have its faults, but decisive wins one way or the other are better than accidentally having to elect a ragtag coalition of communists and other fucktards because the alternative is the national front/fascists, a la Les Francais.

AV's already failed, fuck full on PR.

I also had the Jimmy though re: the exit poll having some sort of Corbyn style bounce for lolz.

I think I’m voting green. It’s tempting to vote labour just because the party I vote for has never gotten in, so a win for me would be nice.

The magic of FPTP is that it divides the country into 650 pieces and to become the government, or even part of the government, you have to be genuinely popular in an awful lot of them. These 650 places are all very different and are populated by very different types of people. That means that the 'coalition' is built into the governing party already and so you have a broad church of views in the government without having the chaotic Dutch/Belgian/Italian propensity to fall apart at any given moment.

The incoming Labour government will have, like, 5 competing factions that represent a much bigger spread of voters than will have actually voted Labour. That's a good thing.

I think that turnout will be sufficiently shit that the Conservative Party will end up doing slightly better than it ought to be doing. Twenty-two/twenty-four per cent, and comfortably over a hundred seats. Obviously sad that they won't be completely destroyed, but Labour winning with less votes than Jeremy Corbyn got could be funny as far as the NARRATIVE goes.

The bit I can't square with that theory is who is motivated to go out there and vote Tory today? Their best hope of crawling to 130-150 is if the Reform vote just doesn't show up at all, or rather, the 'supermajority' shite scares them into staying Tory, which surely it won't.

The one thing I think might pop up a lot today is that a lot of people haven't voted since the last GE and won't know about voter ID, I had some colleagues ask me about it yesterday. Anyway, I'm off to cast now, what a thrilling experience. Will I bottle it at the last and vote Tory?

There's also the case that most people really don't know what to do. Most know they aren't voting Tory, but they're not exactly buzzing about voting for Sir Beer Korma. I'm going to vote in about an hour and I still don't know if I'm voting Labour, Lib Dem or drawing a massive cock and balls on it.
