In fairness it would be massively lol if they did and Spurs finished 4th

It was an exciting game and a great comeback but I'd have been more impressed had Liverpool not conceded three goals at home.
They won't win it anyway. Sevilla are invincible.
Yes exactly. I would have also been more impressed if they scored an additional 3 goals at home, as well as not conceding anything. If they would have also kept 95% possession, that would have impressed me even more.
The UEFA Cup doesn't have any bearing on the 4th place trophy does it? Only City, in Jimmy's described circumstances, could take that 4th place spot away, couldn't they? Would be quite funny if the did it to United, or to Spurs (again).
Well bollocks then. Bring on Olympiakos.
.....
$20 that it's City-Bayern and Atletico-Real.
We can have five teams in, so 4th only perishes if we win both European trophies from outside the top four, which remarkably is still possible.
Europa League winners however go straight into the group stage... unless the Champions League winner has not qualified any other way.
.....
Man City - Real Madrid
Atletico Madrid - Bayern Munich
City could do that.
Fucking hell.
Wanted an all Spanish semi to avoid an all Spanish final really. One of Man City or Atletico for the whole thing would please me.
We had a Madrid final a couple of years ago didn't we? Suspect we'll have one again.
La Liga now exerting total dominance over European football. Far stronger than all other leagues combined.
How do you even measure strength per league to make a claim like that? Is it in Newtons?
.....
.....
Shakhtar Donetsk - FC Sevilla
Villarreal - Liverpool
Away second is good.
.....
Floyd and Smiffy are both right. The Spaniards are by far the best in Europe, but this stuff is cyclical. It will move on soon enough.
.....
I agree that they're the strongest league, I just find the "than all leagues combined" a bit of an odd declaration.
Not like Jimmy to make an exaggerated sweeping statement that doesn't really hold up.
Their teams have more chance of winning the trophies (as far as I can see) than do the teams of all other leagues combined.
.....
The very real possibility if they lose four ties out of four, of which they are favourites in at least three.
I just think the top 8 or so in Spain have left everyone behind recently with their ability to play technical football at pace. Everywhere else it's one or the other, or, in France, neither.
They're probably all on drugs, but never mind.
.....
So we could in theory have all Spanish, European finals.
City v Bayern would be interesting should that happen, although I think Atletico will win the thing. I also fancy the Ukranians to sneak the Europa League.
The top teams in Spain are stronger right now.
But, I'd definitely say Crystal Palace or Stoke are better sides than Eibar or Betis.
I also think this may be a large factor in why the Spanish teams are doing so well - they only really seem to have 6 important league games per season, the rest of them is just about how many goals Ronaldo and Messi can score in that game. Now in the PL, basically every league game these days seem to be a bit of a death battle.
.....
And when you get tired they give you someone elses blood to perk you up.
This is alright from the 'anyone but City' perspective. Bayern could collapse, and 'Atleti' could find their gypoball ineffective; but Ronaldo really ought to be scoring five across the two legs (I suppose the idiots at the other end of the pitch might wreck it).
