Problem is, if I stop that entirely then I won't ever win any games.
Problem is, if I stop that entirely then I won't ever win any games.
I'll stick it on Hall of Fame and see what that does.
If you don’t want to use the exploit then you will be forced to go down the road of proper NBA offence. That being setting screens, pick-and-roll and running plays. But as a casual fan of the sport I think that would put you off.
I would like to understand how to do all that, but the game does not make it easy. Plays in particular are utterly incomprehensible.
Anything anywhere that explains how it works in game?
Gonna try those slider adjustments too 7om as I wanna salvage this save.
body up sensitivity, ball defence and defensive awareness were all 50, so I've moved them all to 100 and we'll see what (if anything solves it) by process of elimination.
I’d suggest practicing the mechanics in the scrimmages then. You can try everything out in there with no pressure.
Cheers, I didn't realise one could do that.
On the sliders, moving those three all to 100 solves it, but at the expense of being able to score at all. 70 brings it back and 80 sort of works, but you're into other issues you get with 100 by that point. Tried Hall of Fame difficulty too (sliders around 58), which might actually be the best bet as it improves the CPU at everything, but it's a bit of a headache to play.
While the issue is there to some degree with pacey players, it may also be that Jordan specifically is a bit of a broken cheat code. I wasn't close to winning a championship until I got him.
EDIT: As you'd suggested as well on the previous page.

Jordan was a cheat player irl too, tbf.
I found this interesting the other day:
https://www.talkbasket.net/85283-how...heres-the-mathMichael Jordan dominated the 80’s and the 90’s, averaging +30 points in eight seasons, the highest being the 1986-86 season when the Bulls legend averaged 37.1 points per game. But how he would do today? It seems there is a consensus that he would average more points per game.
MJ’s agent David Falk said his former client would average 50-60 points per game today because there is virtually zero defense being played. Unlike the 80’s or 90’s when way more physical contact was allowed. Still, Jordan managed to average above 30 points per game.
I also had a go at plays in scrimmage last night, incomprehensible.
What I have realised though is that winning enough games by the margin I did last year does give me some leeway to try a new style with my current Knicks. Points with Olajuwon and Bol may be the way forward and would inject a much needed increase in difficulty, so that is what I will do.
I know it may seem wank, but the tutorials might help. They’ll explain how to post-up, execute post moves, run screens etc. Learning that may improve your experience.
Cheers 7om. I'll endeavour to learn one new move a game.
Which one would you start with that I clearly don't do?
Pick and roll.
Cool!
I think I'll need this for later:
That man is a hero for not making his video 10 minutes long.
Yep, as Pepe said, start with how to screen. Pick-n-roll and pick-n-pop. Absolutely fundamental.
So the pick is the screen and the roll is (someone) moving off it?
Yeah, so you control the player holding the ball. You call for another player to screen the player who is guarding you. Then you dribble away from that defender and they get blocked by the screen.
Your teammate who set the screen then can either run toward the basket (pick and roll) or move towards the three point line for an open shot (pick and pop).
Cheers. That will be lethal for 3's.
This is a great read by the way. I do love when someone grinds a game.
Agree with Kiko btw. Loving reading but I cant face playing the game as I really dont like basketball
Same here. I mean, I try but I can't help but play it like someone trying to apply football logic to it. I can't play it smart and recognise the gamey aspects of it.
Good to hear gents, update coming later.
We smashed them...
Game 1: Boston Celtics 80 New York Knicks 111
Pts: Jordan 37
Reb: Olajuwon 26
Ast: Allen 9
Stl: Allen 4
Blk: Olajuwon 4
Knicks lead series 1-0
Comfortable opening win in the garden, which I'd played before committing to learn new moves.
Game 2: Boston Celtics 110 New York Knicks 76
Pts: Jordan 27
Reb: Bol 8
Ast: Allen 4
Stl: Allen 1
Blk: Jordan 2
Series tied at 1-1
We lost this one as I spent the entire first half practicing the pick and roll. Which I wouldn't say I mastered, but did get much better at. I struggle to work out in a split second which way to move the guy with the ball when the screen is set.
Game 3: New York Knicks 114 Boston Celtics 96
Pts: Jordan 46
Reb: Bol 21
Ast: Bol 6
Stl: Allen 3
Blk: Olajuwon 5
Knicks lead series 2-1
Over to Boston and we're on it again, leading by 28 at half time the pick and roll practicing came back in H2 and we still ran out comfortable winners.
Game 4: New York Knicks 115 Boston Celtics 80
Pts: Bol 33
Reb: Bol 15
Ast: Allen 8
Stl: Bol 3
Blk: Olauwon 3
Knicks lead series 3-1
Bol was amazing at rolling and we're now one away from the conference semai-finuls which we can seal back at the Garden.
Game 5: Boston Celtics 102 New York Knicks 118
Pts: Jordan 37, Bol 14
Reb: Bol 23
Ast: Bol 13
Stl: Allen 3
Blk: Jordan 4
Knicks win series 4-1
Onto the semi's, where we'll face the Bulls again, the 5th seeds who beat the Magic in Round 1 4-1.
2026 Eastern Conference Playoffs - Semi-Finals
Game 1: Chicago Bulls 81 New York Knicks 114
Pts: Jordan 41
Reb: Olajuwon 15
Ast: Bol 9
Stl: Jordan 3
Blk: Olajuwon 6
Knicks lead series 1-0
Great start in the Garden and we're playing much more varied basketball now.
Game 2: Chicago Bulls 105 New York Knicks 93
Pts: Jordan 29
Reb: Bol 20
Ast: Olajuwon 7
Stl: Allen 2
Blk: Olajuwon 6
Series tied at 1-1
Hmm, we were soundly beaten here. 11 points down after the first quarter and we just couldn't get it back.
Game 3: New York Knicks 130 Chicago Bulls 85
Pts: Jordan 38, Bol 23
Reb: Bol 22
Ast: Bol 12, Jordan 11
Stl: Jordan 3
Blk: Bol 2
Knicks lead series 2-1
Cracking performance and Bol was immense with another triple double.

Oh and if we win the Championship, it's going up to Hall of Fame difficulty for the three-peat attempt.
Game 5: Chicago Bulls 120 New York Knicks 125
Pts: Jordan 48, Bol 24
Reb: Bol 22
Ast: Bol 11
Stl: Jordan 2
Blk: M. Bol 2
Knicks win series 4-1
Bol is so much fun to use and has now hit 90 rated.
Houston (1) vs Oklahoma (2)
New York (1) vs Cleveland (2)
For the conference final line-up. Which is slightly annoying as the camera at the Cavs is arse.

Fucking hell
He’s a monster
Meanwhile in real life Giannis has done it and just f bombed his way through his MVP speech.
Stephen ‘A’ must be the worst pundit in any sport ever.
The other two are shite, no? Isn’t one of them at the Bucks as well?
Last night does make me want to do a Bucks game. I need to use Giannis. But not before I’ve gone for a three
Peat with the Knicks.
The Knicks save will remain, but thinking about starting a new one, with fewer games in the post season. R1 best of 3, SF's best of 3, Conference finals best of 5 and Championship best of 7. All on Hall of Fame.
Also want to dip into generated rookie drafts, ala Newgens on FM.
I see in real life the Lakers have not taken well to their early loss.
They're all a bit older now but LeBron, Davis, Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony is a dream team and even I know that.
Will definitely be hitting that on NBA2K22.
Anyone picked up NBA2K22? How's it been received generally?
Downloaded it today. It's not as borked as 2021 was at launch. I find the shooting to be consistent, at least. I'm basing this around 10 minutes of uncontested training, though. Plus I'm shit at these. Always will be.
Looks nice in that way they always do.
Looks like they've fixed the cheesing it down the side of the court and cutting in.

Tempted to make this my first 'current' gen PS5 purchase.
It looks absolutely abysmal from a MyPlayer side.
The more I play 2K22, the less I like it. I cannot get a grip on it and every game I play seems to go the same way. Tight three quarters and then a complete blowout. I'm never going to gel with this series.
EDIT: Real nice of the game to sneakily put my difficulty to Hall of Fame.

Picked this up for half price, first impressions are that I will never score a single basket and whoever puts Mycareer together somehow thought a good idea for any progression is to make your character a lumbering oaf who has to traipse across 'the city' by skateboarding through treacle each time you want to do anything. What the fuck
It's that time of the year again when I've picked this up again.
Lessons learned from last time are that Michael Jordan is too good, so out will go the real draft picks from yesteryear and we'll be doing a full on franchise with auto generated rookies.
Thinking of going with the Pelicans as they have Zion and have never won anything.
I gave up on it soon after my previous post, felt like I was trying to force myself to enjoy it and who has the time?
