[FOOTBALL] Your Euro 2016 England Squad

We're around 3 months away from the start of Euro 2016 in France, and as there's quite a few English players who are in form and have been consistently good this season, I thought it'd be interesting to get some opinions on England's 23-man squad.

Are Sturridge, Welbeck and Walcott all on the plane? Are any of the West Ham or Leicester lot going to get a look in? Is Phil Jones FEC still a FEC?

Jim's looks short on leaders and experience but I think that's mainly because we don't really have any. I would put Carrick in there though. An eleven of something like this, and get Hodgson to ring Ranieri for tips on how to play:

    Hart
    Clyne, Smalling, Cahill, Rose
    Sterling, Carrick, Drinkwater, Milner
    Vardy, Kane

It really looks disconcertingly short of experience but if the likes of Lampard and Gerrard were in there I'd be thinking "Why would those twats turn up this time?" so what the hell.

Carrick is appalling. If just being experienced is a qualification, we should take Nobby Stiles.

All those experienced players have really done us proud recently, helped our tournament performances no end.

    Or not.

He's really not. Compare van Gaal's record with Carrick in and out of the team, and it's like Real Madrid vs Wycombe Wanderers.

It's not that bad, SvN, and I'd pick it to beat the last World Cup team. A lot of those players are in great form (Smalling, Vardy etc being among the best in the league). It's just not full of big names.

Edit- Disco, read my whole post.

The pool is so tiny these days unless you delve into the second tier. There's only about one more plausible option per position outside the ones I picked. Left backs, for example, if Shaw is unfit you're looking at the over-the-hill, proven shrinker Baines or the atrocious Gibbs. Ryan Bertrand, I guess, but Jesus.

That is provided Raheem Sterling decides he wants to be a footballer again. If not, we can just switch him with Andros Townsend and get similar results.

    Work rate, init.

If I wanted an actual footballer in the middle, I'd have Barkley in there.

Sterling's had about 3 good games this season. Maybe Guardiola can teach him how to strike a ball properly.

Milner's underrated as fuck. Work-rate aside, he's a tidy footballer. Glad we didn't buy him and went with our current mob of fucking spineless cunts.

Nah, always rated him and watching last night he seems to still be at it. For some reason he's never been seen as fashionable.

I'm with Dav. Milner's a good player. Intelligent mover and his technique is underrated as he's just seen as a grafter.

I fear him being a United player might have something to do with this. They still play better with him in the side (this latest run of form has coincided with him coming back).

    It's still better form.

He's played a lot of games, easily enough to show the effect of him in the side. The record is much better with him.

"Last two years" is an odd timescale given that most people thought he and de Gea were their best players last season.

lol at everyone leaving Wayne Rooney out. He's shit and should be left out, but we're probably contracted to play him like Ronaldo in 1998.

Fair play. Their record without him last season was terrible.

I still think he's pretty much the same player as he was three, four years ago (in a much worse team).

As I said, I'd have him in largely for experience over the others. Look at that team of John Arne's for instance. Dier and Alli. They could do well, but it doesn't sit right having a team full of players with no international experience who might be too worried about themselves failing to even think about leading others.

Stones has been average this season besides that ronaldinho in his own penalty area. Smalling should be ahead of him.

Yeah, it could work either way. We'll see I guess, if Hodgson goes with the younger players.

Wales have Bale and that might well be enough to be better than England.

Just like we'll never beat Germany when it matters, we're not going to lose to Wales in a tournament. It just won't happen.

I wouldn't pick Vardy, he's all legs and no class. He's had a good season in a team where he's the main man. Can't see him doing the same for England.

As a bit of an outside bet id take Antonio, he's been scoring goals for a few seasons, versatile and he'd be a real impact player. Rather have him in the squad than Chamberlain or Walcott.

Yeah he's been good this season and probably deserves the fourth striker spot. Worth remembering Austin scored 18 last season and he's no way near good enough to play for England.
