Trying to get a puppy, the wife has wanted one for ages and I finally caved, we are both massive dog lovers but always made a case for not having one. Now we are up for it and there are loads for sale yet buying one seems to be such a fucking headache. Had one guy today ring back and witter on for 15 minutes about timewasters etc, finished the call with 'I'll send you some more pictures' then radio silenceWife is off christmas week so would be handy if we could source one for then and have a good wedge of time with both of us around all day.

My mate who lives in London is going wales for the festive period and no cunts are around to feed his cat, so he dropped her off here yesterday, and we have her until the 27th. He got me a bottle of Laphroaig to thank me, but after Luna got done in by a car a few weeks back it's actually really nice to have a cat around for Christmas. She's pretty cool. Highlight so far is probably her barging the dining room door open, staring at me for about half a second, then running off in a panic at the sound of the door bouncing off the wall. Mate, YOU did that, chill out ffs.
Go to the pound instead of keeping cretin designer dog breeders going.
The cunts make this impossible if you have kids. Most of them won't let you rehome a dog until the kids are 12 and even then you'd be frowned upon in favour of someone that doesn't have kids.
That leaves you with the option of rehoming from abroad (which always seems to end in the prompt death of the dog or a fuck tonne of vet bills) or buying from a breeder.
The rehoming centres are the cunts keeping the breeders going at this point.

The official adoption agencies fully cover their arse so it's rare they will commit to being 'good with cats/kids' and have very strict adoption criteria. We could get one of these romanian strays being touted everywhere but not sure I agree with their business model either. At least a KC registered puppy from a nearby seller shouldn't keel over by January and break everyone's hearts.
My sister was trying to rescue a second dog from the same charity they'd already got the current dog from and they were still unbelievably difficult about it, whether the garden was suitable and all that shit.

Exactly, when I was a kid we just went to the dog warden, had a look at the ones they had for rehoming and took them on a little walk, then just picked one and paid Ł40 for them to be neutered. Now it's like trying to adopt a child.
My favourite bit was when they said part of the fence was going to have to have mesh or something put at the top of it because of some route they reckoned a dog could take to jump over it.
The dog who did that would be wasted in a family home anyway as the scenario they were worried about would have seen the thing more fit to be a contestant on Gladiators.
It's an absolute joke. We rescued our dog from the Blue Cross, but it took a YEAR of applying for dogs before we got one. Yet some of the dogs we applied for were unhomed for months and months because they deemed us unsuitable for whatever reason, despite not having kids, me working from home, no other dogs, etc. Fuck knows what requirements they actually have.
And I reckon we only ended up getting a dog in the end because my wife moaned to them about the fact that we were applying for dozens of dogs and just never hearing anything. The next week, they call us and tell us about a dog that isn't on the website yet, and ask if we want him.
I get they don't want to bung a dog who's been in one shit situation straight into another but they're definitely causing more dogs to remain unhomed.
We both work full time so we wouldn't have had a hope in hell of getting a rescue.
The dog charities are still charities, which means that they primarily exist to keep themselves going and in employment. I'm surprised they let anybody have a dog.
Got this Russian mongrel staying with us while the in-laws stay for Christmas. She was a stray getting abused in Russia before being adopted and has clear anxiety issues. She's stopped growling at me at least but she's pissing on the rug when she can.

My mate has a cat with sub-par litter hygeine. When you walk in you immediately smell cat shit. He never mentions it so I presume he's just acclimatised to it.
There's an old story about febreze. They were aiming their product at people with homes that obviously needed a clean but found that people couldn't actually smell their own scent (probably the acclimatisation thing) so changed it to be part of a cleaning routine (give your house a little spray at the end of a clean).

Cheers everyone, we have a cat and a large fish tank already and are very much on it with cleaning so hopefully wont be too stinky, though it is unavoidable with puppies at first I know.
If someone hasn't mentioned it to yet you clicker training and crate training go hand in hand with labs.
