The National Anthem Sponsored by JA's Buzzfeed Thread Titles

Imagine voting and giving press coverage to something so unworthy and unimportant as this.

Has the thread title been changed?

The current doesn't seem offensive at all. I wanna know what it was.

If Land of Hope and Glory is good enough for Randy Savage, it's good enough for Raheem Sterling.

It made reference to the current health of Her Majesty, the Queen. Nothing special, really.

Jerusalem is ace, although its use in home Test cricket is nauseatingly awful.

Land of Hope and Glory has the better words though. 'God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet'

I'll be gutted when the Queen dies. Not because she's dead, but because the coverage will be absolutely disgusting.

It should stay as it is. We don't need an unofficial anthem to feel important, and any modern day politician who thinks they're big enough to change that tradition isn't up to the job.

Because the current one is shite. Jerusalem for me, Clive. Was actually drunkenly banging on about how I would care exponentially more about the England football team if Jerusalem was our national anthem the other day. Failing that, how about Happy Hour by the Housemartins?

But it's essentially pointless, who cares what song is mumbled through by the teams before the game?

It makes an impression. I reckon I'd like Red Bull a lot more if I hadn't heard the Austrian anthem played after all their wins for those five years or so.

I'd like Red Bull more if they had an ounce of grace, whatever the theme tune is makes no difference. It's like saying you won't watch Eastenders because you don't like the title music.

    England, England, land of diversity
    All our children at university
We're sorry for all our colonial ills
    Our NHS distributes pills
    Tol'rant values, equal, fair
    And everyone hates Tony Blair

Someone else can do a right wing verse.

England, England, land of the brown
We let them in under some clown,
So let's send them all back,
    The brown AND the black,
So let's start the hate campaign,
And make England white and great again.

I am an Englishman, I come from the UK and I can say...
    (what can you say?)
That I have access to the best health service in the world
    NH-NH-NHS, NHS, NHS. NH-NH-NHS, NH-NHS

And then you just use other left-wing shite for each verse ('That our banknotes have women on...') until everyone like me is dead.

Don't think I want MPs involved in the coaching of the team, to be honest.

Rule Brittania is the best England song.

God Save the Queen is a dirge, and the words to Jerusalem are all kinds of stupid. But Rule Brittania is pretty much a winner on most counts. Land of Hope and Glory isn't terrible, but it feels like background music to a Jane Austen miniseries.

It's hilarious, isn't it? The whole campaign is bizarre. I don't know how anybody can think England is somehow persecuted in not having it's "own" anthem. If you don't want this one chuck it.

It's the least important part of the day, and like you say if you don't like the song pick something else or, preferably, get over it.

More to the point, why don't Scotland find something better than Flower of Scotland? I could fart a better song and I haven't eaten beans for a week.

Land of my Fathers is the best thing about Wales, although it's hardly a strong field.

It is a dreadful song, and I don't think it's even possible to sing it in tune.

I suspect the only reason it isn't used is that it's much harder to remember the lyrics after six pints.
