Jerusalem is ace, although its use in home Test cricket is nauseatingly awful.

Why change it at all?
I'll be gutted when the Queen dies. Not because she's dead, but because the coverage will be absolutely disgusting.
It should stay as it is. We don't need an unofficial anthem to feel important, and any modern day politician who thinks they're big enough to change that tradition isn't up to the job.
Because the current one is shite. Jerusalem for me, Clive. Was actually drunkenly banging on about how I would care exponentially more about the England football team if Jerusalem was our national anthem the other day. Failing that, how about Happy Hour by the Housemartins?

Rule Brittania is the best England song.
God Save the Queen is a dirge, and the words to Jerusalem are all kinds of stupid. But Rule Brittania is pretty much a winner on most counts. Land of Hope and Glory isn't terrible, but it feels like background music to a Jane Austen miniseries.

It's hilarious, isn't it? The whole campaign is bizarre. I don't know how anybody can think England is somehow persecuted in not having it's "own" anthem. If you don't want this one chuck it.
It's the least important part of the day, and like you say if you don't like the song pick something else or, preferably, get over it.
More to the point, why don't Scotland find something better than Flower of Scotland? I could fart a better song and I haven't eaten beans for a week.
Land of my Fathers is the best thing about Wales, although it's hardly a strong field.
It is a dreadful song, and I don't think it's even possible to sing it in tune.
Scotland the Brave dons. 'Far off in sunlit places, sad are the Scottish faces, yearning to feel the kiss of sweet Scottish rain'.
I suspect the only reason it isn't used is that it's much harder to remember the lyrics after six pints.
