    Kids

Isn't it about time there was a thread for this?

I do not have kids. Do you have kids? Do you want to have kids? Do you regret having kids?

    Thank you

    4 here.

    No [specific] regrets.

Obviously life changes somewhat, but there's probably a one-in-one-out equilibrium to it all.

No kids and once I passed 30 I was never going to have them - nobody should.

No regrets at all, I can’t stand anyone else’s.

I have kids. One of each colour. As tiring as they are, they’re both class (which was never in doubt, based on me being their dad.)

No kids but babysitting the nephew gives me an idea what I'd be in for. He's alright. Kids are alright.

I’ve a 1 year old daughter and a 5 year old step daughter who are both top. They are the most exhausting thing in the world though, currently in Portugal with them and haven’t had a minute to actually sunbathe, thank god for iPads though. Don’t want anymore.

I have one child. Born a few months ago. I never thought it would be for me and was pretty anxious about it all before she arrived but it’s amazing. Lost my gym and social life pretty much but I don’t care.

Got two, 3 and 5. 3 has some additional needs - speech and language development is behind, some gross/fine motor skills too. Possibly autistic but a diagnosis is years away. It adds another layer of difficulty to it, but he is class and has been making huge leaps in his communication.

We got a puppy a few months ago to help with his needs as he is dog obsessed, so he's got that going for him too

To answer the question, I don't regret having had children. I was a pretty boring bastard before children anyway so I haven't lost out on much really.

Don't have any, always felt like it was a thing where if I was with someone who had strong feelings about it either way I'd just go with the flow. Probably at a point now where anybody I was with longer term would either have them already or never wanted them in the first place so yeah.

I like kids and wouldn't be against it, but if it's gonna happen I want to get my money right first. If I make a milli before 40, then I'll go for it.

I've got a ten month old girl and she's great. Didn't really have a great drive to disrupt the status quo when I didn't have one but now she's here, it's funny how quickly you adapt and change. Watching them develop is genuinely amazing.

Don't have kids. Both of us have always felt like we will probably want them at some point, but that point has yet to arrive. I do wonder if it never will.

Still find the idea of wanting them baffling. Yes, they're cute and can be fun and yes life is pointless so they at least add some temporary relief to the monotony but the cost (physical and mental rather than financial) is ridiculous.

That's not to say I won't have them but I'm certainly not waiting for it in excitement. Ideally I'd have spread my seed by now and had aboit 10 kids by now and left the 3 or 4 women to deal with them but this restrictive society doesn't allow for that kind of freedom.

    None and no desire.

I also came to the realisation I prefer being single in the summer so I guess I’m destined to be a loner.

My sister has a 14 month old and she’s class, but I think that because I get to walk away from the meltdowns and my exposure to her doesn’t impact my sleep. I think I’m too lazy and set in my ways to have a kid. Maybe that will change at some point. But if it doesn’t, I’m not sure I’m that bothered.

    No danger.

Still get the bollocks 'oh you'll change your mind eventually!' but the desire has never been there and I never find myself thinking about it.

It's only mildly irritating but I feel for the folk who want kids but can't have them who get the same shite.

A working cock is one that can do the business with no risk of spawn. Everyone should be sterilised at 30.

That said, I wish I hadn’t expressed that sentiment one night over pints in front of the wife’s brother in law who had his last one at 49.

It’s just wrong. Some rapey grandad looking fella down at the school with his kid just warps them. If families were normal then the world would be normal.

Outside of council estates and caravan sites, granddads are usually older than their 30s or 40s.

Our daughter was three in June. I found it very hard adjusting at first and she would only breastfeed so I was a bit of a sleepwalking spectator for a good while, so while my wife misses that baby stage I couldn't wait to get past it and now it's a lot more fun. We like the idea of another but I do also think it would kill us so one is enough.

As if siblings are always best mates. Just have one and then siphon down your shared empire to make them a king.

    One king > two peasants.

I think siblings may work better depending on the age gap? There's 8 years between me and my sister, so while she was able to help out while I was a baby and we started out really close, she was a hormonal teenage wreck when I was an annoying little tosser.

Neither of us has really changed in the following 30 years.

Seriously rough few days. First a fever spiking up to 39.4 followed by two further nights of rotten broken sleep. The wife is in zombie Mode at the moment. I don't think I'm far off.

Don’t worry about fever numbers, mate. 39 and 40 look scary but don’t worry about them. Regular calpol and nurofen.

We've been giving her calpol but they don't sell it here so it's contrabanded from the times we visited home. Same as lemsip.

She's been good during the past two days so hoping she's through the worst of it. Thanks for the advice!

Bad parent here. We never bother taking the temperature of ours. Paracetamol and ibuprofen. Lots of water. As much sleep as they can get. Jobs a good'n.
