Very evenly matched so far.
Very evenly matched so far.
This Fernandez lass gets everything back. Great defence.
Very good final so far.
Yeah, these two are quality.
Ridiculously good.
And Tim Henman is just lovely. Deffo man crush.
He genuinely looks exactly the same as he did 25 years ago.
I don't pay much attention to Tennis; do wildcard entrants often / ever do this well? It seems a bit mental. How can she be this good and not have qualified via whatever the normal route is?
It's that milky white Oxford skin that refuses tan.
Fernandez went for a shit.
Pele was a world name at 17.
Naomi Osaka? She got to the top and didn't like the view. She's not got the head for heights.
Ah, she's in the women's doubles final.
Kik's.
That point was glorious.
That shot was the best winner of the match and it was spoiled by shit camera work.
She's astonishingly good, isn't she?
Start the thread, Yev.

What a serve to finish it.
Good on her, she was in control the entire match.
Incredible. 18 and didn’t look at all affected by anything the entire tournament.
All the seethe from the crowd and Fernandez when she cut her leg and had to get patched up.
It was a perfect game to finish it.
Stunning stuff.
Applauding her for comparing her loss to 9/11?
Amazing win. What a player. And attractive as well. If I was 6 months younger...
Enjoying Laura Robson's barbed compliments.
There are so many sliding doors moments. Before Wimbledon Emma didn't have a main draw wild card. Would she be in this position if they hadn't upgraded it? Would this happen if she hadn't had to retire from the fourth round with breathing problems. The amount she learned from that experience is what has got her to this moment.
She played an almost perfect performance in her first Grand Slam final. You have to think there will be so many more.It is going to be interesting to see what route she wants to go, whether she wants to take advantage of this huge confidence she has got at the moment. What a performance. So clutch under pressure. She is just a phenomenal talent. To deliver that performance is another level. She is an absolute champion. Mentally today she was outstanding.
I wasn't bothered until I heard the crowd were behind the other one. New York sports fans are the pits.
Now the arguments about her not being properly British begin
That daily express front page is quite special.
Yeah, she's absolutely British.
Piss off we’re full.
Djokovic 2 sets down and has been broken twice in the third set.
Lovely stuff.
Sounds like he needs to go for a gluten free shit.
Him going for this record grand slam got me to thinking that have Nadal, Federer and Djokovic really won 60 slams between them? That's 13 years of slams. That's just insane.
Shame they’re all drugged up. Allegedly.
How many of them have triple Olympic golds, though?
EDIT: I mean 2 golds, one silver.
I'm kind of glad Djokovic lost - if he'd won the four majors but missed out on the Olympics, I reckon that would have been mentioned any time the feat was discussed. Which would get tedious fast.
I thought Osaka couldnt hack publicity so what is she doing at the Met Gala.
Some of her tennis friends are there.
