The 'What on Earth Should I Play Next?' Thread

That's right, this is the place to come if you need someone else to do your thinking for you.

I'll start, I'm looking to get into one of the new(ish) big, sprawling RPG's (we'll ignore the fact that both Baldurs Gates are sitting smugly unplayed on my Steam account). So, the choices will be between: Dragon Age: Inquisition, Pillars of Eternity or Divinity: Original Sin.

I haven't played the latter but would like to. I also have not played Pillars of Eternity but as much as I enjoyed DAI and there is much to commend about it.... I think I'd go for PoE of those ones. DAI feels a bit MMOy at times. Having you go about the world saving areas from... er... whatever the things (rifts?) are called is a good idea and there are some fun things tacked onto it but a lot of the time it's complete x quests to take area for Inquisition. And a lot of those quests are kill 11 kobolds.

Still, if you should settle on DAI go Qunari, for it is the correct choice.

I've completely ignored your advice and bought Divinity: Original Sin because G2A were selling GOG keys for about £12, plus I discovered you can learn an ability that lets you speak to animals. Sold.

That's one step away from being able to talk to the monsters.

Your speaking-to-animals comment has given me a thought: You know what I'd love? A sequel to or remake of Nox. Playing as a conjurer and summoning a grizzly bear to murder shitty bandits and thieves.

Further to my earlier posts I've been debating what game to buy and sink the last few days of my holiday into once I get home and I'm thinking Pillars of Eternity might be what I plump for.

The other, much pricier, contenders are Phantom Pain and Dying Light.

That's good news because I bounced off it a little bit, this gives me a great excuse to start again with all the new content. I basically realised that I borked my character somewhat and was too far in to want to face just starting again.

Finding myself more bored lately, with nothing to do.

Can't decide what to play from the following

    Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge
    Broken Sword 1
    To The Moon
    Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team
    Sleeping Dogs
    Dead Island

(Just randoms from my Steam/Origin library)

I'll probably do To The Moon first cos Mike's bigged it up.

I was looking to get more of Bloodborne done before November but now I feel like restarting. Father Gascoigne's a bad man. On the plus side, I've got Central Yarnham mapped out.

To the Moon is a) brilliant and b) over in a couple of sessions. An easy one to get crossed off a list of stuff to play.

Dying Light is pretty cheap on cdkeys. I was tempted to get it myself.

I'm playing Far Cry 3 at the minute. I bought in a Steam sale ages ago but never got round to bothering with it. I'm really enjoying it.

There's a point, I need to play Far Cry 4 at some point too. Hmmm.

That might be my next buy as well, FC3 (story and characters apart) was a great laugh and the new one is seemingly the same but with mountains.

Mountains that you can look at but not really traverse. Although, elephants. And a poor attempt at moral choice.

    "I represent tradition. BOO!"
    "I represent progress. BOO!

Like the choice at the end of 3?

Whatever, that one I suppose, can I drive a jeep off that cliff now?

Giving serious thought to Far Cry 4 now.

Has anybody played it in co-op? Because some of that looked like a hoot.

Never played 3 but they seem to think moral ambiguity is giving the player two shit choices at three predetermined times. It makes the characters who dish these choices out seem like the worst people to run a country.

One of the choices at the end of the three would also only be taken by an actual pschypath. They could have had a really interesting ending had they removed the choice and used elements of both. And an ending that might actually have made me believe the writers' waffle about his intentions for the story.

I've started it, got massively bored at one point but it got a bit better later on. Turned it off at the wedding with a view to finishing it off later in the week. The music's ace but the game itself isn't really gripping me yet.

I wish stuff on my wishlist was on sale when I was desperately bored and couldn't get into anything else. Divinity OS 2 or Tyranny are looking very tasty at the moment.

If you've got a PS4 you could give the Nioh demo a shot. Its the final day for that.

I'll try not to be too insulted by that.

Picked up Banner Saga this morning, not entirely convinced by it yet but we'll see how it goes.
