Yeah. The criticism in here has been a bit over the top. It's not as good as Skyfall and there's plenty that could be better, but it's still fairly entertaining.

Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel again last night. A second viewing has confirmed it as the film of 2014 for me. I think it helps that I knew absolutely nothing about it going in (first time round, of course).
It's almost flawless.
Europa Report is a bit boring. You can see what they're going for, but the production values are poor and not enough happens.
You don't normally go in for that Spoonsky/Tobias boring twee (is 'tweedious' a word?) shit. What excepts that?
Just watched Phone Booth. Kiefer Sutherland is frankly, incredible.
Forgot about that one, it is quality.
Even I found the Grand Budapest Hotel a bit, well, tweedious. The aesthetics overwhelmed the story-telling for me.
It was grand, just not that funny and up its own arse a bit. I can see why it got approval though.
Giggles liking something that Spoon appears to regard as having been overly-'hipster'. If anybody needs me I'll be questioning reality.
There were a few bits that I thought were hilarious (the time where he just runs away from the policeman is one of the funniest things I've seen in the cinema recently) but on the whole I just didn't feel any emotional connection to the characters. You also never got the sense that things would turn out badly, the stakes were zero for me.
I think it's telling that when I think back on the film, my mental image is of a cartoon rather than live-acted. I think Fantastic Mr. Fox is far, far better (partly because it's more understated).
Watched Spy last night. Really enjoyed it. Up there with Kingsman as the best of the recent splurge of spy spoofs. Certainly a lot better than the fucking man from uncle.

I watched You Don't Mess With The Zohan earlier for the first time ever. Very racist but Sloan from Entourage made it watchable. Actually wasn't as bad as expected and found myself laughing more than I really should have.
It's probably more racist than Four Lions, and nowhere near as funny.

How Green Was my Valley is probably just a bit dated. I didn't enjoy it that much, despite some lefty politics.

I haven't seen the latter, but Ant-Man is just light hearted superhero fluff. Paul Rudd is an exceptional comic actor though, so he elevates the sort of jokes that fall a little flat when Captain Evans or whoever tries them.
Rudd is the main reason I will definitely catch Ant-Man at some stage.
I watched Danny Collins on the plane the other day and I'm not sure what to make of it. Not sure I could really believe any of the characters but strangely watchable.
Netflix have given Bong Joon-Ho, he of Snowpiercer and The Host, fifty million quid and full creative control for a monster film he's making for them.
Watched Hurt Locker for a second time tonight and I suspect I can watch it for a further ten times and not bore of it.

Does this prove that James Bond is a time traveller with the baddy reveal? And once again, I'm struggling to see why the bad guy is doing what he's doing. When was the last time a Bond villains plan made sense?
I can't even remember his plan. It's quite a forgettable film.
Jurassic World is a actually alright. It's stupid as fuck and often leaves you going 'erm...really?' but I wasn't bored once and given it's a 2.05hr long film that's a mighty achievement. It was very predictable though, but throw Dinosaurs in to the mix and it automatically adds a 2 to the rating. So that just shows you how bad 3 was.
The Boxtrolls is brilliant, if it wasn't for Inside Out it would probably win the Oscar next year.
Edit: Or not, I've just spotted that it was released last year and was nominated in the 2015 Oscars.

Sexy Beast is good, particularly Kingsley. But it's not quite as fantastic as I had been led to believe. The plot is minimal.
Spectre is much better than Quantum of Solace but not nearly as good as either Skyfall or Casino Royale.
It's another one that would have been much better with a more ruthless editor.

"It's a different film and none of it's true anyway" generally does the job for me.
Also, as just mentioned in the other thread, Purely Belter. Really funny and a good drama too. And partly about football.
I enjoyed Trainwreck.
Whiplash is very good, although somebody should have decked baldy.
