Watched Annihilation yesterday and it was pretty good. Really weird. Strange, quite tense. Partly just felt like a general hommage to Sci-fi.

Natalie Portman doesn't really age, does she.

The first one with stan. I hear a lot of critic with final destination but I think the whole franchise is great.

Roman Polanski is furious at the Oscars for expelling him and his movies from being submitted. He said it was an outrageous disrespect of Due Process from his appartment in Switzerland where he's avoiding extradition.

They knew all about Polanski when they were awarding him an Oscar in 2002 and condemning the persecution he was suffering.

Ready Player One is the worst blockbuster movie I think I've ever seen. Not Spielberg's fault as the source material is probably the worst book ever written but fucking hell its insanely bad.

Is it, as the advert suggested and I said months ago, essentially the FPS bit from Wreck-it Ralph stretched to a feature length?

Is there a proper running order to watch them in? I'd want no part of it if not. Thought about it with X-Men once and that is apparently fucked up for continuity with far less films.

X-Men has some other rights agreement so they're all over the shop. The Avengers 'universe' is all consistent.

Yeah I linked to the wiki with the order they go in. First one is Iron Man which I’ve already seen but only when it first came out. I’ve also seen a dodgy copy of Iron Man 3, the Age Of Ultron Avengers film, some of Winter Soldier on a plane and the quite excellent Spider-Man Homecoming so the majority of them will be the first viewing for me, which hopefully makes me want to actually get through the 18. (FYI Infinity War is on at the cinema but probably by the time I’ve watched the other 17 I won’t have to wait long for the 4K Blu-ray (do people actually say UHD?) of that.)

I was thinking of doing something similar given all the recent hype about Black Panther and Infinity War. Doubt I can be arsed though. I don't like super heroes that much.

The Maguire/Garfield films aren't part of the MCU.

Sony (who also do the X-Men films and Deadpool) did that.

If you wanted to reduce the workload of catching them up you could skip the Iron Man sequels (the weakest films and don't add anything), the first Thor sequel (weak and doesn't add much), and the standalone Hulk film (not bad, but what is there to get about him?). That would take however many hours out of it. You would only be missing out on Tim Roth doing a turn in the Hulk film, but all of the films tend to get their casting - particularly the villains - absolutely spot on, so you would live.

Sony=Spiderman movie distribution rights that are shared with Marvel, new Venom movie that comes out, outside of MCU continuity
Fox=Xmen movie rights,Fantastic Four movie rights,Deadpool movie rights,in the process of being bought out as movie studio company by Disney.

Easily my favourite film of the year so far:

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6738136/

A take on the old classic revenge thriller. Gore to the max, a stunning central performance and some insanely good cinematography. Not for the faint of heart but a phenomenal ride.

I watched Compliance yesterday. A marginally uncomfortable watch when you know it's based on stuff that actually happened. And even though you know going in there is plenty of research proving how wired people are to obey you still want to give some of the people involved a good, hard shake.

For some reason I've had lots of thoughts about Airheads a lot recently. I barely remember a thing about it yet what I do remember is incredibly vivid. Was it any good / do you think it'd still hold up?

Avengers was surprisingly good. They've finally managed to put a bit of jeopardy into them. Admittedly i haven't watched a marvel film since iron man 2.

I love how everyone is like YOU NEED TO WATCH ALL THE OTHERS FIRST ZOMG because they've added one layer to the film and maybe an extra dimension at a stretch.

People who watch normal films can understand quite well thanks.

I hadn't seen a single Marvel movie going in apart from Guardians 1 and 2. Seemed pretty easy to follow though. Robotnik wanted all the Chaos Emeralds, what more did you need to know?

Seriously, does anyone remember this film and if so, is it worth my time rewatching or is it more dated than Mahows Ukranian camgirl?

Yeah, just got back from seeing it. It's more of the same, which I'm totally fine with in this instance.

Saw Tully the other week too. Didn't really know what to expect having seen nothing but the poster, which gave me Ladybird vibes. It does have a similar indie type feel to it, and it was definitely better than I'd have guessed. We also saw Strangers Prey At Night, which was alright, if pretty generic.

The Strangers: Prey At Night - Fucks all the goodwill the first created into submission. Arse.

A Quiet Place - Fairly decent, signposted to oblivion, a couple of good moments. Ending was lol as fuck.
