The Dead Don't Die is one of the strangest films I've seen in a long time. It was a fairly interesting take on your standard zombie apocalypse stuff, set in a far smaller town than those things typically are, that just went completely off the fucking rails in the last fifteen or so minutes. There were irritations all the way through, with some lines of dialogue being repeated to the point of absurdity and the entire soundtrack consisting of one song which is played at least ten times, but there's a gag in those last fifteen minutes which almost made me turn it off on the spot.

I hope Yev watches it. There will be no survivors in his building.

Weird, I just came in here to say I just watched that and I thought it was quality. Probably my favourite Scorsese film , but I've still got a few to watch.

Ben Wheatley taking on a Tomb Raider film isn't the most obvious combination.

It's definitely in my top 3. I'd never even heard of it til I decided to go through De Niro's entire catalogue about 10 years ago.

Just watched X-Men: Dark Phoenix and it really does stink.

Easily the worst of the series and such a shit way to end it all (before it gets rebooted by Marvel).

It's mental to me that when appointing a writer they settled on the one person who'd already proven he couldn't do a decent adaptation of that story. Then got him to direct it too.

You'd think / hope Marvel will steer well clear of that one for a good long time.

The Mrs has had ‘Sing’ on for 15 minutes and I want to put my fist through the telly already. Even if they finished one of the fucking songs it wouldn’t be so hellish. 10 second bots of different songs over and over and over.

IT Chapter 2 was very good

Also watched The Informer earlier in the week, which was fine. Other than those two, the best film I've seen in the last month was the Dora movie

Watched John Wick 3: Shooty head bang-bang. Was great as ever, even though the plot was complete gibberish.

I just stumbled on this trailer, is it set in Lilliput or something?

She's towering over everyone and everything despite being 6'1.

Yes, 6'1 for a 16 year old girl is seriously tall but all the boys look to be about 5 foot 5.

In today's episode of "What's my dad watching?" he was sitting down in front of Darkman. There's something about those 1930s superhero homages that are very offputting to me. Like the Rocketeer or something, it just has a weird look that I can't get behind. The acting's all period appropriate and the villains are the mob or the Nazis. This one stars Liam Neeson at his most awful. At first glance I thought he was Roy Scheider.

They made two straight-to-video sequels. There's a market for owt, apparently.

I watched Snowpiercer yesterday, which is very weird. The plot is contrived bollocks and the ending pretty obvious but it's quite watchable. Good cast too - Ed Harris doing his usual thing as moody overlord geezer, Captain America as himself and a few other assorted oddballs. It's got a Blade Runner/Robocop kinda vibe, which is cool.

I've only just learned that there's a film being made called "Jiu Jitsu" starring Nicholas Cage, Tony Jaa and Frank Grillo about a bunch of martial artists who team up every so often to fight off alien invasions.

    I want it.

Went to see Rambo: Last Blood today and it was exactly what it needed to be. Lol at the critics who are claiming it's racist and the violence is too graphic.

There was a great scene which result in a few sharp intakes of breath around the cinema.

Remember when Rocky and Rambo were serious attempts at saying something? That's not a slight. It's legitimately great how they've ballooned into this.

Not sure if there both as bad as each other.

It's the one with Chris Evans in it isn't it?

No, there were two Chris Evans ones (with Gruffudd, Alba and Chiklis) and then the most recent one with Michael B Jordan, Jamie Bell and some other folk of varying levels of fame. This one is actually worse than those two because at least they had an attempt at bringing a little joy to the proceedings. This is just a load of miserable grimdark, washed-out nothingness where nobody seems to be having a good time

One of Reg Cathey's last films.

I kind of enjoyed it but I'm not really sure why because it was a bad film.

Third reboot coming soon though so fingers crossed for something decent.

Yeah Feige will if nothing else do a better job of it. I bet they'll at least cast it better.

I think across three films they've managed to do about four bits of casting properly. Chiklis was wasted on that shit.

Annie Hall was on TV. Spent most of it thinking it was awful, but afterwards I'm thinking maybe it was really good. Maybe that's because the TV's off and I'm not having to listen to Woody Allen anymore.

It’s the type of film people say they like regardless because the right answer is to like it. All it’s missing is subtitles.

So yes, it should suit perfectly but there is zero entertainment in it.

I find pretty much anything set in Australia at least watchable, with the possible exception of Neighbours. I'm a setting whore.

Stan and Ollie. Absolutely wonderful. Don't care that it's a bit saccharine or whatever, that is just what it needed to be. I don't cry at films, but if I did, I would have cried at the final scene.
