Westworld (the 1973 film) was on TV last night and was a fun watch. Will probably remain on iPlayer. They did a lot with minimal special effects

It is good for what it is, and a great concept. Yul Brynner's performance was the inspiration for Arnie's Terminator by all accounts.

Plus it had that actor from that American comedy program (sorry bit vague). I can't work out if he's funny or not.

Tbf, the trailer had me slightly interested. How did they end up getting out of the time loop in the end?

While he’s dicking about drinking beer everyday cos he’s given up on life and since you can’t get a hangover, since the day resets, she

Palm Springs was well made but I found it extremely dull. I used to think my dad was a right miserable git for not liking any sci-fi and comedy in particular but I can really see his wisdom the more tiresome life becomes.

Finally got round to watching Sully. It's like an anti-9/11 but with somehow more CGI plane crashes. I was maybe expecting more courtroom bullshit but they kept it relatively proper. Although I still want a version of this where they land on the Intrepid somehow.

It is as well done as can be expected.

Watched Unhinged which was a thriller with plenty of shock and gore, completely undermined by the fact it is all carried out by a morbidly obese Russell Crowe.

The fact that it's all carried out by a morbidly obese Russell Crowe is the only reason it works. I reckon he's just about the best celebrity going. He had ten years of making absolute bangers (and should have won three Oscars in a row), somehow got a tough guy reputation from chucking a phone and threatening a couple of ponces, and then semi-retired to get fat on his farm with his kids and his rugby team. What more could anyone ask for in life?

On the subject of bad films I watched two last night, one which was fun and one which was not.

Glass is a load of shite. Split was daft but I thought McAvoy held it together, he tries here but it's nonsense and I'm not sure why you'd hire Bruce Willis if he's just going to go about being this bored all the time.

Then I watched Jiu Jitsu, a film about martial artists who fight an alien every six years so he doesn't kill everybody on Earth or something. It has Nicholas Cage and Crabman from My Name Is Earl in it, and while it's very cheap (the directing is... interesting.... and the alien is just a dude in a fancy armoured suit thing) and mostly rubbish I did at least enjoy that one.

Is there anything Cage won't do? He's got to be setting some kind of film appearances record at this point.

    Raul Julia plays M. Bison

Peak dogshit Australian cinema from the 90's.

It's a shame they never went full Zangief with Rusev. Raul Julia loved making that film for his kids. And then he died.

Jean-Claude Van Damme spent that film coked off his face and banging Kylie Minogue between not turning up for work. What a decade that man had.

I mean change Kylie to Cammy and 'promo shot' to 'win pose' and the point still applies.

Shite. Played all of it but barely paid attention in the second half. Should have watched it as a kid, probably.
