I watched it recently at a drive in cinema and loved it all over again. Such a good film.

As pointless as they were becoming, that's the Oscars well and truly fucked now anyway. Did anyone ever start that woke bullshit thread after?

Two of the criteria are so wooly and you only need to meet two, it won't change anything.

It will be interesting (in the most meaningless sense of the word) to see whether anyone actively games the system with a load of no-mark producer credits to take their white male war film above the threshold. There would be a real dilemma there for the voters. Is it for its own sake or not?

That said, I'm not sure why women and gays get to ride the 'under-represented' train on this one. Is showbiz really locking them out?

Iñárritu, Cuarón, and del Toro beg to differ.

Edit: and Lubezki, Bichir, Aparicio, Salma 'Salma Hayek' Hayek, etc. Even Lupita Nyong'o is Mexican apparently, lol.

I watched Knives Out and quite enjoyed it, but some of the gushing about Chris Evans in it just because he's playing against Captain America type was a bit OTT.

There's not a spoiler in my post unless the main thing you'd be watching for is "Does Chris Evans have the exact same personality as Steve Rogers?"

Watched Contagion. Considering it was made in 2011, it was pretty accurate for now. Fairly star-studded too, which was suprising considering how many corny montages it had that made it look like a low-budget straight to VHS fare.

That is up there with one of the creepiest films I’ve ever watched.

Director definitely needs a background check.

I watched Upgrade last night and quite enjoyed it. A bunch of reviews I'd read described it as being a spiritual successor to Robocop without being as boring/shit as the reboot and I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment.

Watched Onward last night, better than I expected. Then revisited a modern classic horror, The Conjuring. Such a shame they decided to try and make a 'cinematic universe' on the back of it. It's just so well balanced between threatening atmosphere without anything too overt happening in the first act, a lot of horror films either blow their load early or make it drag.

Tenet became 100x more enjoyable when I gave up with the plot and trying to understand the dialogue and instead just mindlessly drank it all in.

I watched Onward last night and quite enjoyed it. It's not up there with the best Pixars but I wasn't expecting it would be. Pratt and Holland are pretty much perfect casting in it though.

I saw a trailer for that hilariously bad looking Nick Cage Jiu Jitsiu meets Mortal KomBat meets Predator movie and it said ‘From the Director of Kickboxing: Retaliation’ which sounded so dumb I had to check it out.

It appears to be a film set in a prison where Mike Tyson and Ronaldinho train Jean Claude Van Damme to beat a fat combination of John Moxley and Brock Lesnar for their freedom. Incredible stuff.

I watched Edge of Tomorrow / Live. Die. Repeat / whatever the correct name for it is. Quite enjoyed it. It peaks early as it's obvious the broad arc the story is going to take but I enjoyed it. I didn't know Emily Blunt in power armour was what I wanted in my life but there we are.

I've also rewatched the first three Bourne films in the last week or so and they still hold up too. I think I've possibly underrated Supremacy over the years.

Yeah they're all on Netflix and Prime.

Jason Bourne is really, really dull. The Jeremy Renner one (Legacy) is possibly marginally better than it, even.

Ultimatum is still the peak of the series.
