I'm lazy, so the meals I opt to make most often are ones that take under half an hour involve as little washing up as possible. A favourite at the moment is blitzing some sundried tomatoes, basil, olive oil, garlic & parmesan and chucking it over some pasta.

Any in a similar vein I should be aware of?

Get Nigel Slater's book 'Real Fast Food', it's full of such things. The man is nothing short of a genius.

Delicious and a piece of piss. I think I've only done it a couple of times with the couscous, other times I've taken a bit more time to make a spicy rice or something to go with it because couscous is yawn. The lamb is the business though.

Along similar lines in terms of how easy it is to make: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2.../chorizo-pilaf

They might be easier than you're actually after if you want something that looks a bit more impressive.

Surely "cheap and easy" for Magic would be only hiring the second best catering company in town to do it.

Went here tonight for the girlfriend's birthday. Had the lamb, the pigeon and the trifle (with the cocktail). She had the mussels, the cod and the same for dessert. It was all absolutely bloody lovely. I should have done something in food instead of medicine.

I don't think I've had any before tonight.

We went to the Caxton Grill (twice ) which is Adam Handling's restaurant, who came runner up on Professional Masterchef. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of. The first time we went there for the tasting menu was the best meal (I hate that word) I've ever had.

Both of the Great British Menu dishes tonight were pretty special, but I thought the pigeon was the star. It was sensational.

EDIT: The duck was, yeah. I've got the recipe for it actually...

I know he's lost a lot of weight, but it's no secret how he got so fat after seeing the recipes in that book. Buttered ham for fuck's sake.

Has anyone ever made soda bread? I bought some the other day from Morrisons (the proper brown loaf stuff with oats on, rather than the right-angle 'farls') and it was mega, but I rarely go to Morrisons, and nobody else sells it. However, it seems easy enough to make, since it doesn't need the yeast and pissing about that has always put me off threatening to make bread, so I thought I might have a crack at it because my life is utterly without meaning.

I once got it into my head that making my own malt loaf was a good idea, but then I worked out that it was about three times cheaper to buy. This makes sense because it's seemingly made with shit we already have.

I've not had a go yet (will at some point) but the serious eats recipes tend to be really good.

That's a stupid statement just following the company line. I love the taste of them plain and find anything on them ruins them, what's depressing about that?

Giggles drinks water from the toilet cistern because taps are for pretentious media types. Well, pretentious media types and sheeple just trying to go along with the consensus. Fair play for being such a trailblazer of belligerent philistinism.

Because I prefer pancakes plain than with something on them?

Scottish style pancakes are quite nice plain, but it probably is a sweeter recipe. I usually try a bit of the first one to make sure the recipe is right and end up eating the whole thing on its own.

I'm not offended by it and nobody else is you weirdo, everyone is just playfully taking the piss because it is CLASSIC giggles. I've been posting on this forum for about 5 minutes compared to everyone else, and even I would immediately guess you if someone showed me a post on here about liking pancakes plain with your name and avatar redacted.
