I think it's a Merseyside weirdness. They get spring roll and chips.

The Chinese just realised at some point that that could chuck any old shit in hot oil and cover as many bases as possible. I would be astonished if any of them do real quality fish and chips, to the point where if Mr Miyagi pops up from behind the counter I'm walking.

Funny you should say that. If you order from them and then try to return it, they offer you 50% refund. When you say no, they offer you 75% refund, and you keep the knives.

(Original pot noodles, in pots, only.)

Plenty to try, then. In the meantime I’ve ordered some of the Huel Hot and Savoury stuff for easy working from home food.
Got the doner one today. I assume it’s going to be a massive let down but I had to.

Picked myself up a grade 4 [which I assume means marbling score 4] olive fed waygu rib eye for dinner. Going to have it with a 2015 Lacoste-Borie Paulliac for a bit of midweek decadence [the wife is going out].

I like the idea of an olive-fed cow. Do they let the beasts loose in an olive grove, or just pay some feckless youth to keep popping Kalamatas into the old cud-gnashers?

The steak was decent enough but I'm not convinced it was that much better than a normal one, and certainly not worth the cost uplift. I think it could have done with being thicker but then it'd have had to have been 350-400g which would have been coming in at £35+

Don't think I'm up for Guga level spending really.

Wine was decent, which was a pleasant surprise as I often find that older [ish] bottles of French red are generally terrible [no '84 Latours for me]. Edit, '82 apparently.

I had to go into town to grab a new headset from Head Office and stopped at the all new, all shiny Taco Bell for lunch.

It's absolute shite, isn't it? A war crime against the people of Mexico and about as Mexican as Pepe's wife.

It goes along side Wimpy on the list of successful restaurants that mystify me. They must just be money laundering cover for drug rings and cartels. Otherwise I just don't understand who is going to these places more than once.

I remember you could get a bean and cheese burrito from Taco Bell for about 30 cents [in 2006ish] and always thought that would be a fairly affordable way to survive homelessness/destitution.

Can confirm the Taco Bell in Southend is of the right quality to target homeless people, but not the right price.

I have never been to Taco Bell. Seems like its main appeal is being ridiculously cheap, even by fast food standards.

Never been to the Flint House either.

People in the UK (and presumably all non-US countries) are absolute suckers for American diners they have seen in movies, even if the food is absolute turd in a lot of them.

There's a Wendy's in Kingston, really not sure what they have to offer that every other burger place doesn't have. In fact they're worse than most. Yet there they are.

For the man that’s always right, that’s completely wrong. Wendys isn’t a ‘diner’ type place, it’s a rock bottom faster than fast food type place. Even in the US.

The best thing to do with a fault is to avoid it completely.

Saw this guy on the Netflix programme referenced so wanted to see if I could get hold of some of his soy sauce because he seems like a top lad, the story is cool and I'm interested how different it actually tastes.

I'm currently at the stage of pretending to myself that it is ridiculously too expensive and that I won't end up buying a bottle.

Ended up buying it. It actually is on Amazon (with a stupid product name) for the bargain price of £35.

    Bought some wanky vinegar:

    https://www.thewasabicompany.co.uk/p...u-rice-vinegar

    And wanky sushi rice:

    https://www.japancentre.com/en/produ...chi-rice-small

As well. Have ordered some good tuna and salmon to arrive Friday and going to ruin all my excellent ingredients Saturday by fucking up my first attempt at making sushi.
