Suso hattrick.
Suso hattrick.
We're on the verge of signing Jordan Rossiter for compensation, apparently. I saw a bit of him whenever it was he started that cup game and scored one from distance, but presumably some here will have seen more. Good signing?
I've seen him in some u21 games. Over hyped cos he's scouse but should do well in Scotland.
Yeah, he was supposed to be the next Gerrard or whatever, but presumably he's not going to be that good if he's leaving to get game time in Scotland. Probably end up a middling Championship player, so he'll probably do alright. I know he was very young but he did look a bit weedy whenever he played for the first team. Bit of a shame to see him go but such is life, I guess.
The stories I'm reading have him knocking back moves to Man Utd and Arsenal because he's worked with our chief of recruitment before, but that could very easily be a journalistic embellishment to make the story seem weightier than it is. Still, it's a nice thought so I'll run with it for now.
I remember thinking he looked a bit too Jay Spearing to be 'the next Gerrard', but Kante manages and he's shorter than some threads I've pulled off a jumper.
Christ, Giggles is viewing. A scouse Liverpool player moving to an Old Firm club. He'll have a hit out on the poor lad.
I think he'll develop into a top player for you. He just wont get the game time here as the midfield is packed out already.
The one bad thing against him could possibly be Klopp not being bothered by him. Since Klopp has arrived he's handed out a fair few starts to youngsters but Rossiter isn't one of them. It could be a case of the lad already deciding he's leaving and Klopp preferring to look to other youngsters, rather than Klopp overlooking him being the reason he's going.
However him and Flanagan had the same amount of time left on their deals when he got here and despite him coming back from an eternity out, Flanagan got a new deal but Rossiter hasn't.
I don't think he'll be the Gerrard type bombing forward at every chance. More someone who prefers to stay back, always there for the simple pass back. If he gets the game time he should shine though.
Assuming it goes through our midfield is going to be a fairly packed as well, albeit obviously not with the same quality. Jason Holt is a nailed on starter next season, which leaves Windass, Crooks, Halliday, Rossiter, Law, Shiels, Burt, and Murdoch to fight over the other two.
Though I suppose only two of those are properly defensive midfielders, if what you've said about Rossiter is right, so he might be Crooks' deputy.
Thanks, LADS.
I think you nailed it when you mentioned Jay Spearing, unfortunately. I'll not mind if he proves me wrong, though. He wears his shorts really high up.
Early reports are saying Sakho will face no further action. May even play in France.
Well, that's a bit of luck.
Looks like it's true.
Bit of a kick in the teeth that he missed the final for essentially nothing. Although I can't say he would have made too much of a difference.
Kolo Toure was far and away our best player in that final, I'd say. Maybe we could've converted Sakho to leftback though.
The Independent reckons we've been approached by a Chinese group in a Ł700m takeover attempt.

They can have Tekkers and the Welsh Pirlo for that.
Look at those opening away fixtures. Plus ca change.
Flanagan, Smith, Wisdom, Ward, Markovic, Ings, Balotelli & Gomez all back in the squad.
7th.
The new Main Stand will open officially when we play Leicester on 10th September. Anfields new capacity will then be 54,167.
Not too shabby.
Apparently there are also plans to get work started on the Anfield Rd end at some point - I tweeted the club but didn't get a reply.
But there were spades in the ground!
Mane's injured.

Hopefully he'll only miss one game.
I'm a twit
Lucas starting at centre back? Wut.
Klavan was injured. Lovren is in no state to play, so it's a forced one really.
Karius on the bench though. And Sturridge starting, is good news.
And it only took 15 years and 3 different owners...
I'm so glad we're not in one of those bowl type atrocities.
If only we could wrangle some kind of deal to do the same to the Centenery Stand. Never going to happen though.
There are plans to update the Anfield Road end, too (that were submitted with the main stand application), but the club hasn't confirmed anything.
They can't do that until they finish this Main Stand properly. It'll only add another 4,000 seats though.
If we could do a similar job on the Centenery to the Main stand, we could push over 65,000 quite easily.
Is this Liverpool crowd really quiet or is it just BT's shitty mic placement?
Probably the former. Bar the bigger games we've had a shite atmosphere since we chucked the title run in.
Going alright this.
Oh dear, never mind
58,000 would be fine. Realistically, you're not going to fill the stadium consistently except for MASSIVE games. People are more fickle than you'd think, especially given ticket prices.
If Champ Man's anything to go by, it'll take years to fill it regularly. Years of actual success. I don't think Liverpool's brand is strong enough to bring in the day-trippers like United do.
Best way to prove to the manager you've changed? Just a single day after he has called for a positive atmosphere for today? Yes that's right, post a snapchat story calling him a liar and thoroughly make him furious. I'm sure it'll work.

I'll tell you what, our front 5/6 is looking pretty fucking decent now.
I still reckon Klopp shouldn't forget about Keita for now and go balls deep for van Dijk... Lovren is still a bit of a mess at the back.
Thoughts on the current XI? Obviously, playing Coutinho and Lallana in midfield leaves Henderson a wee bit exposed, so we will most likely see Wijnaldum or Can in one of those midfield spots, and more rotation up front. I'd like to see a new right back to replace Clyne. I like Arnold, but I think he's still not too close to the XI.
Salah's looked decent from what I've seen of him in pre-season, definitely a good Mané surrogate and if Coutinho moves into midfield/No.8 then the front 3 could be very direct.
A decent centre half would be nice. At least they've signed a left back, I suppose, and hopefully Gomez and Terence Trent D'arby can deputise where needed.
Karius in net.
I'm a twit
You want to replace Clyne?
I've got a couple of Liverpool supporting friends that don't seem to think much of him either which surprised me.
No complaints over Clyne.
Most fans are idiots.
Most
Clyne is fine. They could do better but not without spending about thirty million.
It's not a priority position for spending, let's put it that way.
