American Express. Same as our stadium.

Somewhat different from the name of a Fatboy Slim album.

I hope that picture on the right is the numbers on the back or it's going to be some mess.

No shit. You would have thought, however, that they would allow a bit of time for fans to buy the kit. Most (all except France, perhaps) have already released them.

It'll come out soon, and they'll have months to buy it before the Euros. It's a weird thing to take issue with.

I'd like it if you could all take a moment to look at the Columbus Crew away jersey on that link above. It's really something.

RSL have nice kits this year.

It just looks purple on TV though as they're not real red and blue like the likes of Palace. The shade of blue and maroony-red more run into one another.

Unless I'm massively misreading sarcasm, what worries me most is that guy calling it a must-have and even setting aside a dislike for a club because of a purple shirt.

Kit design doesn't really exist anymore, does it? Nike and Adidas both just create simple templates and roll it out in different colours.

Bring back the early 90's, I say.

Macron getting bigger might change things up - since landing the SRU contract they've given Glasgow and Edinburgh some cracking designs with unique touches around heritage and make up of the club/cities. Their latest Scotland shirt was a fan design competition too. Very 90's touch, that.

Perhaps though if they grow (as they're looking to do with some bi contracts signed in the last month) they'll also lose touch with that personalisation.

Adidas and Nike have always just done templates with slight tweaking. Look at your own first post in this thread for an example of that.

Your example of Nike having "..always done" this is kits also released this year

In the 90's kits from team to team were way different, at least that's how I remember it.

Ah, got you. Still, I reckon those USSR/Netherlands were the exception, rather than the rule.
It could be rose tinted specs, of course.

There were definitely more distinct designs, but it's just because there was a greater variety of manufacturers rather than any change in approach from the big ones.

Here's the full set of kits from Euro 96:

I think that's 9 different manufacturers, so only Adidas appear more than twice. The likes of Umbro did seem to have very different designs for each team - maybe why they didn't make much money - while Puma look surprisingly lazy.

No way, I'd have that Scotland one in a football kit hall of fame. Still regret not getting it at the time and getting that grey England one.

I still subconsciously judge European national teams based whether or not they made Euro 96. In my mind, Sweden are upstart impostors for example, but Romania's rightful place is qualification for every tournament.

I do exactly the same, I suppose it was my real watershed moment for international football as USA 94 being subject to time zone issues and Scotland and England not making it meaning that it wasn't such a big event and 92 was just a little too early.

Edit- also, see mid nineties Champions League - I think of Ferencvaros in 'big club' terms.

That's probably overstating it on reflection, Scotland actually do pretty well among national teams for unusual kits.

This one sure to divide opinion:

That looks as much like a rugby kit as mine looks like a goalkeepers.

Scotland's recent kits have been very good too, current away not withstanding. Pity they'll be lost to the ages with no major tournament nostalgia for anybody to attach to them.

Love that 96 England kit. You can always rely on Croatia as well.

Kits were definitely more interesting back in the 90s, early 2000s. The worst case nowadays for identikit designs are Football League teams - e.g. our Nike kit being exactly the same as you can buy for your Sunday league team.
