Cheers AD. Out of those three, though, I only find the Roots one even remotely good. It's a little slow though.
The first one is fucking horrible for trying to fuck up a good Tiersen track as it is. Rappers should just learn to stick with sampling soul, funk, etc.

The second one has quite cringeworthy rhymes and I find the rapper a little bad.

The Roots are obviously quite solid, I'd say they are amongst the better of the currently active rappers.
Lighthouse is an immense track. But yeah, I can't listen to more than 1-2 tracks of The Roots without getting a bit bored either.

Clickbait headline and a premise I thoroughly disagree with, as I'm sure most of you guys would too.

Also, why are ALL rappers these days not pronouncing the full words? It's like they never pronounce the last syllable or at least consonant in words.

Also, what's the verdict on The Documentary 2?

Thanks, but nope, that's not really what I'm after either. It's got a nice funky beat, but it's a little too much elevator-rap to me.

All of these tracks are a little slow. Maybe I dind't explain what I'm after quite, it's really hard to articulate. You know Notorious Thugs by Biggie? It's like quite melodic, but it has some tempo and some sweet rhymes in it.

Basically I'm after people today who sort of stick a little to the sounds of the 90's. You know, like any track that had Nate Dogg on it or something like that. I do like some slower stuff, but it's a lot more difficult to pull it off, mainly only Drake can do it, but there are some gems, Little Brother, Jay Electronica have some decent (but not more) tracks.

    This isn't half bad:

Oh yeah, we're getting closer, nice one lads. This guys has a pretty decent flow and voice as well. "On & On" is a nice track.
It's a real possibility that this dude may have a song that can make the cut into my holy Hip-Hop Playlist.

Great beat and background sound, but I don't like the repetitive chorus and there's something off to me with his rapping.

    New Mayday album is great.

Tinashe has a real Aaliyah vibe going on.

    Anyone listened to it?

    Track List
    1. Intro – Documentary 2 [Explicit]
    2. On Me (feat. Kendrick Lamar) [Explicit]
    3. Step Up (ft. Dej Loaf & Sha Sha) [Explicit]
    4. Don’t Trip (feat. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre & will.i.am) [Explicit]
    5. Standing On Ferraris (feat. Diddy) [Explicit]
    6. Dollar and a Dream (feat. AB Soul) [Explicit]
    7. Made In America (feat. Marcus Black) [Explicit]
    8. Hashtag (feat. Jelly Roll) [Explicit]
    9. Circles (feat. Q-Tip, Eric Bellinger & Sha Sha) [Explicit]
    10. Uncle (Skit) [Explicit]
    11. Dedicated (feat. Future & Sonyae) [Explicit]
    12. Bitch You Ain’t Shit [Explicit]
    13. Summertime (feat. Jelly Roll) [Explicit]
    14. Mula (feat. Kanye West) [Explicit]
    15. The Documentary 2 [Explicit]
    16. New York, New York [Explicit]
    17. 100 (feat. Drake) [Explicit]
    18. Just Another Day [Explicit]
    19. LA (feat. Snoop Dogg, will.i.am & Fergie) [Explicit]

Tracklist looks good on paper but ehh that means nothing these days. I heard Don't Trip on the radio today (A. Dot's taken over from Sarah-Jane Crawford and 1xtra is so much better for it) and it's reminded me the album's out so I've got it to listen to tomorrow. Rumour has it Game's off the prison soon too so hopefully it sells well, always liked that guy. Uncle Otis is still my favourite diss track of all time.

Did you like "Surf" phonics? I don't think we ever really talked about it in here. It didn't really grab me at all at first, but I've revisited it a lot as the year has gone on.

Was that the one with The Social Experiment? I liked it but it's very much a background album that I'll play on my iPod while walking somewhere rather than something I'll seek out to listen to.

Kanye's uploaded two tracks to Soundcloud. The first is Say You Will remixed and the second is Kanye singing over the track he produced for The Weekend.

I miss this time 5 years ago. Remember all that awesome free music Kanye released?

I just listened to the GOOD Fridays compilation about a week ago, for the first time in ages. He really did put some quality music out over the course of that. Imagine making something as brilliant as "Christian Dior Denim Flow" and not putting it on a proper album or anything.

Drake unashamedly stealing some of my tipsy dance moves for that Hotling Bling video. I'll take it as a compliment I suppose.

I'd never heard of him. Reminds me of a less-corny Chiddy Bang.

    Anyway, just seen this book:

Exactly as it says on the tin really, but some interesting choices. Here's the full list:

Been listening to What A Time To Be Alive and Rodeo pretty much non-stop since they came out, really good stuff.

Tried to get into Documentary 2 but it wasn't doing much for me.

Now I got a new Jadakiss tape #T5DOA and all a bunch of Young Thug tapes (finally caved, never gave him a proper listen before).

I just noticed that every time I heard a Young Thug song recently I couldn't stop thinking "why does this trash sound so fucking good?" But it really does.
Best Friend and Power are two amazing songs, so let's see what gems are hidden in his mixtapes.

Also been listening to Dave East - Hate Me Now mixtape, solid stuff for the gym.
