Oh well, that was fun.
Oh well, that was fun.
I think this is the proof in the pudding that while they're all catching well in qualy trim, Maxs car still takes some beating in races.
Pretty flawless drive from Russell, were he Verstappen's team mate.
And red bull get the perfect pit stop as well. They’re a fucking machine
Now's the time to stick it in the wall Logan.
Not sure why both McLaren drivers are doing the same strategy
Maybe they're hoping for operation Piastri roadblock.
There goes the roadblock idea.
Surely he's goalhanging for a SC now?
No way this strategy works for Norris.
So they’re not even going for a 1 stop? I don’t get it
Proper Ferrari-level tactics there by McLaren.
Max still has a brand new set of softs to put back on.
Look at Flavio's boys go.![]()
Pretty stupid of Merc/Russell to leave Hamilton hanging 1.1s behind.
Not sure this strategy was really worth it. Would have been less time between them both if Norris just pitted at the same time as Verstappen
He should be able to shorten the gap once Verstappen's tires fall off. In theory.
That was a nice battle between Lando and George.
That was quality.
Shame it just meant Verstappen is further up the road lol
Lando might have weaved one time too many in the middle there, but I guess it probably doesn't matter since he lost the position right after (before regaining it in the next move, that is).
We need a safety car. Come on Kevin
Hulkenberg is in the points so The Magnussen could well be deployed here.
Ì get the concept of this "lap-by-lap" at the bottom, but it just seems very hard to follow the way they've gone about it.
Edit: Just realised it might be a F1-tv only thing.
Russell about to get very pissy on the radio when he sees the colour of tyre on Lewis' car.
That's not the type of pit stop you want.
ffs McLaren.
wtf they aren’t even sticking with their plan. McLaren are useless
Slow stop, doomed strategy.
And a shite pit stop to boot. Red bull are just better in every department. Strategy, mechanics, drivers etc
At the end of the day, it’s another Lando bottlejob.
Thank god he won in Miami at least
I think in the end the strategy has been ok-ish. They're closer now (and a place higher) than they were when the first round of stops came about, and that's with shittier pit stops.
Be quite funny if the softs blow up and Tory George coasts home on the hards.
What is this inside outside shit that a lot of the drivers seem to be doing into turn 1 to defend against the DRS?
I think McLaren have the fastest car at the minute. They’ve been top 2 every single race since Miami on lots of different types of tracks. Arguably should have won in Canada and definitely have the fastest car here. Just threw it away with the start
Must be an overwhelming temptation as the radio engineer to just say "you missed the braking point you twat" or whatever whenever a driver gets on moaning about the car causing them to fuck up.
McLaren always looking like a rocket ship in the last ten laps of races.
Be great if they could start a race well
These two are just dominating at this point. 5 of the last 6 races had them 1-2?
Feels like McLaren did Lando out of a win there.
Well, between the pit stop offset and him binning the start.
You need to have such a clear head to realise taking your medicine is a better approach than trying to find a way to win from the initial fuck up on a sub-optimal strategy. Everyone always wants to be on the faster tyres at the end but how many times does it work? Once a season, if that?
It was mostly Lando that did Lando out of a win. His start was abysmal. Not to mention he was clearly on board with their strategy.
Every race if you were in 2015 Merc
Yes the McLaren strategy (and pitstop timings) were wank but I feel like they changed shit on the fly after the awful start.
Had Lando not been slapped about by Max and George they'd have gone for a safer strategy which would have worked out better.
Still not sure their strategy was wank. He was 5 seconds behind when Verstappen did his first pit stop (so essentially when their strategy difference started). In hindsight it wasn't a strategy that could win them the game, but it didn't really cost them anything either.
Stroll extends.
