What are they going to fine him for next, taking an aggressive line into turn 4?
I hate how rain is policed in F1 these days. Yes, if it chucks it down in a race a la Canada 2011, intervene. But otherwise, let the drivers use the tools at their disposal and work their way up to driving at the limit of the conditions. Running in the rain during practice, qualifying and races these days is so limited, I'd say a lot of drivers who have joined the grid in the past decade have only had a fraction of the practice running in the rain that others have had which just perpetuates the problem. Even Massa, who would bin it in the rain every time without fail circa 2007/08, learned how to drive to the conditions.
Wet running is such a big part of the history of the sport and is the time when the driver's skill is most at a premium, and when the good drivers separate themselves often regardless of machinery.
F1 clearly not interested in this and more interested in running the Safety World Championship.
Reason why Hamilton and Alonso immediately go towards the top of the time sheets during wet conditions.
For me, it seems like the inters are too good of a tyre. When the full wets are required, they red flag the race like a bunch of pussy farts
Wet tyre is far too good at what it's designed to do, which is chuck gallons of water off the floor up into the air so you can drive on the track. Unfortunately comes with the downside of spray everywhere and seriously reduced visibility.
Since we lost Jules Bianchi they've been terrified to go full racing on wet tyres in case something similar ever happened again. Even though that was a combination of sheer bad luck and Jules being a bit naughty.
Aye, people like to forget he was giving it full beans during yellows. Although he probably couldn't see a thing in that weather. Visibility must be a huge factor in them being flag happy.
They trialled mud flaps on the cars didnt they? In this case, water flaps.
I don't know, fining someone for testing stuff in a session designated to testing seems fair play to me.
Yuki for another year in the VCARB then. A bit unambitious?
It's exactly his level to be honest.
Wonder if merc are fake pumping us again here or are actually decent
Perez will be praying for chaos tomorrow.
Perez is so shit.
Perez
Abysmal. He might be bottom 3 driver at this point.
Hopefully the rain comes in Q3
Did they keep a receipt on that contract?
He has been shit since Sainz got the boot
Merc still looking good. The rain to fuck them would be beautiful
- I guess we're fucked
- Yes
Ferrari deep in the mud there. Doesn't look good in race trim either.
Is Tory George going to deny us a "Get in there Lewis!" or Max just plonk it up there again.
The big brains at Ferrari strategy central strike again.
Bookies don’t have a clue. Both Mercs and max 9/4 to win quali.
Little do they know.
Well you dont see that too often.
Turns out they did know.
Man, Hamilton might've been fightier from the front row against Verstappen. Turns out he was nowhere.
That was incredible.
Merc finally looking good but I can’t trust their race pace whatsoever. Between Norris and Verstappen again
So, are we getting rain?
It's going to be a completely green track, not sure if it actually rains during the race though.
In my mind race was going to be at 8, is it 7? Why do they constantly fuck around with the relative times between qualifying and the race?
It is starting wet but hopefully it goes to dry and then wet again
These two singing the anthem
Could be tasty this.
That anthemn though. Jesus
Verstappen's face was classic.
Is one of them Raffi?
Yeah, I was figuring race an hour earlier than quali, but it's two.
I'm very confident in Maxwinslol here.
But bring on the chaos.
Rain due to start again around the start. ‘Mon the chaos on the front row
Is the wrasslin' Mountie still alive?
Surprised someone in top ten didn’t risk starting on the wets
K Mag has played a blinder here
Well Haas, that is. Hulkenberg has also been moving up a lot.
Haas
Seems the relative pace of the tires is already shifting.
