The race is at 1 am lol. Great scheduling, lads.

It's confusing who it is even catering for. Mid-morning in the sand countries? I get it needs to have shiny lights on, so be in the dark, but surely at this time of year it gets darker there a bit earlier than 10pm or whenever they set the thing off local time.
The ONE part of the F1 website that was good... was the scheduling banner thing, that instantly told you start times in your country... and they went and changed it. Useless fuckers (they've added one extre click ).
Trying to find F1 start times has always been a click laden affair. They want to hide that nugget away so badly.
Often very clicky to find the starting grid, too, if you've missed qualifying.
EDIT: Race is 10pm local time.
Watching the Brawn documentary that Keanu Reeves did a while back. Two episodes in and Bernie's in top form.
Bernie is a full-on legend. Not appreciated in his lifetime due to being a completely villainous cunt, but in 20 years we'll look back on him as a hilarious hero.
Been watching it too – seriously good viewing. Love those bits where Keanu just suddenly shouts at some nerdy F1 boss, 'WHAT THE FUCK?'. Di Montezemolo comes across as such a pantomime prick, Horner too. I also love how much they characterise Ross Brawn as a teddy in public and a vicious fuck behind the scenes. Some good watching.
Thinking back, that period 2007-2010 was superb. The 2007 championship with Spygate and Alonso vs Hamilton, 2008 with the insane championship fight, 2009 the Brawn story and then 2010 the mega multi-direction title fight (and that superb looking yellow and black Renault with Kubica driving). Lovely stuff.
The thing it really hammers home is how skint the operation was. Outside of Virgin, I don't remember the outfit getting any proper sponsors. Hearing how they had to ditch half the workforce after Australia and ask the refuelling bloke to come in as a weekend gig is wild.
2010 Abu Dhabi was actually great. If memory serves there were a theoretical possible 5(though realistically 3) WDC winners going into it.
It was Alonsos' to lose and to be his crowning glory and the start of some Ferrari glory years. Yet imagine Ferrari making a pit stop blunder and sticking him behind a non-fussed Russian for the whole race.
Vettel had at no point in the season lead the standings in the WDC until he crossed the finish line. First driver to have done it since Hunt in the 70's.
Even though I was lolling at Alonso at the time, it's a pity it worked out that way. He deserves another championship and Vettel deserves to have won fewer.
I do wonder what F1 would look like had he got by Petrov immediately. In my head that incident was the most high profile example in the push to create something like DRS down the line.
Does Alonso then get first dibs on the upcoming vacant Mercedes seat in 2013? I reckon he would also have dealt with Rosberg in similar fashion to Hamilton and could himself be sat on 7 or even 8 titles. He rightfully gets his dues, but I bet it will irk him if two is all he ever manages.
I'd rule him out, but he's got one last hurrah with a change in regulations and an Adrian Newey behind him to build a car, anything could happen.
Ferrari 4 constructors from here.
Is that a new colour on the RB's? Reminds you of the old Benetton.
Yeah it looks like the O.G Kimi sauber.

Sharles going backwards.
Way better paint job than before, keep it please.
Never seen a modern tyre go off as dramatically as Leclerc's did there.
First time I've actually got up for this race, don't mind the circuit at all tbh. Much better than Jeddah.
Sainz should be black flagged for that, hideously dangerous.
Ferrari really fucked up Sainz there.
Wasn't watching it all, how has Hamilton ended up 2nd?
i missed it but is Sainz being looked at, at the end of the race for that pit lane cut?
Surprised Ferrari didnt swap leclerc and sainz given leclerc is close for 2nd place. I guess the bonuses for leclerc are personal and probably hurt ferrari if he gets 2nd.
Merc seems very temperature dependant.
Their other wins this season have been at a cold and damp Silverstone and Spa. Vegas also much cooler of a night.
There was a win at Austria, but Russell was over a pit stop behind when the two leaders took each other out.
Take the car anywhere hot and it looks useless.
Aye. My guess is Ferrari called them both in then realised he'd lose time double stacking them. As for the cut, I always (probably incorrectly) assumed the white line they looked at was the one on the exit.
EDIT: The rule is only punishable if you cut the line on pit entry. He didn't enter the pits so no problem.

Dangerous as fuck on a bend like that though. It would have been a disaster had there been another car there.
It should have a been a black flag under whatever sweeper rules there are for general dangerous driving. You can't behave as unpredictably as that in a high speed part of the track.
Rules have disappeared miles up their own arse though so actual high speed danger is fine but pushing someone off the track onto tarmac run-off at 40mph is a penalty.

Sorry to abandon my cynical persona but this sort of thing awakens the child in me. In summary:
11 teams is such an odd number

lol at Perez going under the bus as an innocent bystander in all this.
There's a lot of things that Max can do that are phenomenal. Driving at the level he does consistently without a team-mate that can push him in any way certainly makes his life harder.
I still beleive having a strong team is the biggest test, which is why hamilton for me stands alone against the rest compared to the rest since 1998
The Brawn GP story on BBC is wild. I don't really remember much about that season apart from the cheating thing but TBF I'd only just started to get in to F1.
Brilliant story.
Is skys commentary two seconds ahead of the feed for anyone else?
Is there another one this week? Is the continent change break gone?
It’s a triple header to end the season. It’s like the 3rd or 4th triple header of the year. Very dumb. It’s sprint weekend so that was just quali
Russell is just so much better than Hamilton
Perez lmao
Perez forgetting to go on the green light
Shameful
Don't think I've ever managed to tune into a sprint race other than on the last lap, having forgotten about it. Every time.
Norris is far too much of a team player. Such a nice bloke
That was also ridiculously brave to do with Russell less than a second behind
I can't stand that sort of thing. Fastest man should win.
Yeah Norris could have won that by 10+ seconds with ease but whatevs
It’s a good thing it rained in Brazil otherwise red bull may have twitchy bums based on the state of their car the past two weeks
As a racy as Piastri is, he sounds dead on the radio. I'd settle for Vettel yabba-daba-doing over "Yeah. Ok. Thanks."
I think every one of those things is cringe as fuck. Whether it's Vettel advertising his German naffness, Verstappen being an arrogant wanker or Hamilton's preening Still We Rise, it's just awful. Only exception is usually someone's first win or winning after a long wait and there's genuine emotion.
Piastri comes across very well. Seems brighter than your average fish.
Watching the F2 race, some of these people are genuinely awful. Bearman looks a class above, so smooth, probably going to come second.
Sling that, he's just absolutely mugged his French rival into T1. Rule Britannia.
